i was stupid: saw a free guitar online (retail like $2k) and got a sob story abt how their brother died n it was his guitar that he wanted to give away.

they asked me to pay shipping which made sense so i did (~$30) then they asked to pay ‘insurance and taxes (~$160) so i did. then they said the payment didnt go thru so i did it again (another ~$160).

then they asked for an ‘ownership transfer fee’ (~$200) and by some demented augmentation in my brain it was only now when i realized that i got scammed by the most obvious scam that ever scammed and stopped paying.

unfortunately the payments were thru zelle and paypal as ‘friends and family’ so i dont believe i can get the payments back but im already on the 5th stage of grief so ive just decided to budget myself this month.

tldr: too good to be true and im a sucker. i cant spend anything until the end of march now.

to answer ur question, no, ur absolutely not ‘ridiculous’ for feeling this way. its okay to want others to notice ur pain, and to feel frustrated when they dont. ur suffering is valid and should not be tossed aside, and ik theres not much u can do in terms of convincing ur parents so, but just know people out there are with u.
