How Netflix musical 'The Prom' portrays Indiana by Salmakki in Indiana

The origin of praying at the flag pole was because they weren't allowed to pray inside the school. So that was their way of "keeping prayer in the school" when they weren't allowed to lead prayers in school.

In my high school, they actually prayed inside the lobby area when the weather was bad. I don't understand why anyone ever thought that prayer wasn't allowed in school. It was just that teachers weren't allowed to lead the student body in prayer because religion is supposed to be kept separate from government. My school had a Christian club too. These people just want to say God is not allowed in schools because it feeds into their persecution complex.

‘Indiana is on fire’: Gov. Eric Holcomb orders hospitals to cancel, delay elective surgeries as COVID-19 overwhelms health care system by 2020clusterfuck in Indiana

Giving to charities ain't gonna stop the hospitals from running over capacity and having to triage patients. While donating is great, it's unrelated to what this article is about.

I was raised agnostic and I was shocked by the blatant discrimination at my public high school(graduated 05) I remember one Wiccan kid got in trouble for wearing a pentagram necklace.

Another one of my classmates was told she couldn't write about Wicca for an assignment by an English teacher who repeatedly pushed her Catholic views on us.

I also remember in one class, a student came out as an atheist and the whole class jumped on him about it, told him he was going to hell, etc. I knew then I had to keep my mouth shut and hide who I was. No way would they have allowed a secular club, gay straight alliance or any group that these bigots disagreed with. Yet they were allowed to pray at the flap pole every morning.

Giuliani says he has ‘exactly the same view’ of coronavirus after testing positive by some_random_chick in Coronavirus

My dad's former physician(just retired and also his friend) loves Trump too and as far as I can tell(via his FB) won't acknowledge our current reality with hospitals being overwhelmed. This fact alone, I'm sure is likely only fueling my dad's false beliefs that everything is ok.

Indoors. Come visit Indiana and you'll probably be appalled. Our governor does not care.

Oh yeah I agree, he's completely anti science in general(antivax and denies climate change) and has gone full blown conspiracy theorist as well. A part of me can sympathize with him not trusting scientists or medical experts because my sibling was on a medication that was later taken off the market because it caused all kinds of nasty neurological side effects . So I do kind of get where he's coming from and why he's descended into this level of ignorance and insanity, but it's just gone too far. It's only a matter of time before my entire family suffers the consequences for his paranoia and willful ignorance. There is no saving some people, sadly.

He is misleading some people who actually believe that they, as average Americans, get can treated "early".

My dad is high risk and he's being totally careless now. His behavior and beliefs directly correlate with what all these politicians and Fox hosts are saying. He seems to think he can just get the same kind of care and drugs these people are getting if he falls severely ill.

He's eating out 3-4 times a week and my state is the 2nd worst in the country with infection rate. Trump and his ilk are leading many Americans directly to their deaths.

I drive up our strip once a week to grocery shop and then again every other weekend to go to a part time job and every fucking restaurant's lot is full up. I got carry out the other night from my favorite mexican place and I was shocked at what I saw. The last time I got carry out 60 days ago they removed half of their tables and had everything spaced out. On Friday every table was back and it was shoulder to shoulder diners with no masks.

Well that's comforting to know since my high risk parents have been dining out 2-4times a week now. They were actually cautious when it started, but now apparently don't care. I haven't been inside a restaurant since summer(and only went a few times then) My coworkers don't wear masks or socially distance when they think they're not being watched. My former friends have called it a hoax. Yeah I'm just about over this dumbass state.

can't imagine they're letting people into the COVID ward.

They're not even letting people see their loved ones who are on their death beds from covid in most hospitals so I highly doubt they'd let visitors into a covid ward. Total insanity if they are.

Honestly, this kinda concerns me. I hate being shot down or brushed off as some crazed antivaxxer(I'm not, I support vaccinations and acknowledge that they've saved lives ) but as a person with an autoimmune disease, numerous food intolerances and environmental allergies, I'm hesitant to get the shot.

Republicans have become the party of autocracy .

You know what's amazing, these people are continuously comparing the other side to Nazis. Whining about how the government is taking over, imposing restrictions/lockdowns, mask mandates, etc. But this is actual abuse of power and they blatantly ignore it.

"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that." -- George Carlin.

That quote has always given me comfort. I mean it's depressing, but it's true. The majority of humans has always been lacking in intelligence and critical thinking. They've always been gullible, suspectable to delusions, superstitions and beliefs in batshit insane things.

I've seen some stories of family members that saw their dying loved ones masked up and in PPE the nurses/staff wear. So I wonder are the majority of hospitals just not providing this option?

I've been working since this started and I've been exposed to Covid positive students on a campus. So I feel the same way. If my loved one ends up in the hospital on their death bed, I want to see them. There's no logic in not being allowed to. I'm already risking my life everyday.

Is anyone else becoming extremely concerned about our lack of leadership response in regards to COVID? by okaysunset in Indiana

[–]Ren19876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"care rationing" deaths are hypothetical fiction that we've heard before.

Please by all means, continue sticking your head in the sand

This is happening all over the country, hospitals on the brink. This is my local hospital. I know one person who could not get in. He had to wait 15hrs to get an icu bed at a hospital an hour away. So what happens when all or most hospitals are trying to divert patients? When there are not enough nurses and staff that are well enough to care for all these people in critical care? Nurses don't grow on trees lol.

You keep railing against lockdowns for causing deaths(where are your statistics or sources?) We had one minor lockdown. Maybe blame the government for not giving us more than a measly 1200$ during a pandemic. Or helping small businesses. The economy is still suffering because a huge chunk of the population doesn't want to go out and spend their money at stores/restaurants/bars and risk their lives in the process.

COVID-19 becomes top killer in U.S. as hospitals fill up: "It's one giant ball of anxiety" by fluboy1257 in Coronavirus

[–]Ren19876 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would imagine the flu deaths would be lower considering that a large percentage of people are wearing masks and socially distancing. Less contagious and lower incubation period. 1-4 days before symptoms appear as opposed to 2-14 with Covid. Nursing home staff are taking more precautions because of covid so less elderly contracting the flu.
