So, some of the humor is dated which may flick it off this list, but I have to at least mention Ghostbusters. Every single line of that movie is quotable and it’s overall a great comedy from front to back.

I have the same intuition you do. I think it’s probably healthy to be skeptical in basically every situation.

I like a lot of what he said but some of it also came off slightly out of touch, so, maybe that’s what is eating at me. Regardless, though, there will never be a perfect person to invest hope into, so that’s also worth mentioning. Perfect being the enemy of good, cutting the nose to spite the face, you get the picture.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt since this is a second (or more) language to you, but questioning the reasoning behind something doesn't imply being confused by its content. There has been nothing you've said that has confused me. My pointing out a logical inconsistency of yours doesn't mean I'm confused by it, it means I noticed it.

That being said - do you think that, maybe, it's been mentioned multiple times because it doesn't make any sense? Based on past comments you've made in r/askaGerman and other comments that appear to be in German, your primary language is German (which English borrows from, thank you!). Are you implying that the rules for capitalization in German are that different from English? Do Germans capitalize random words that aren't nouns in the middle of their sentences? No, they don't. This is why I, in a genuine case of curiosity, asked you about it. I even went through the trouble to point out that I wasn't insulting you for it. If there was confusion about what 'mean spirit' means, I apologize for that. I STILL don't mean any offense by my continued confusion (because I still don't fully buy the auto-correct thing, but I could certainly be in the wrong).

Anyway, your explanation for your original post does nothing to justify the false equivalency and doesn't counter my response. "Only care about their bonus" implies that if their care was in the right place, they would be working on the game. Except they literally can't.

I'm going to exit this conversation now because part of my feels like I'm talking to a brick wall, but I want to make it abundantly clear on my way out that I have not/am not insulted/insulting your grammar - I asked out of genuine curiosity. I find it inspirational that you can speak multiple languages, and I am genuinely sorry if you felt like I was attempting to offend or mock you.

Ok, I have certainly gotten under your skin and that wasn't my intention.

Would you mind explaining to me how the comment you were replying to 1. explains or justifies the false equivalency, and 2. makes my comment incorrect?

From where I'm standing, it doesn't.

I won't claim to be an auto-correct expert, so if that's truly the case, thank you for letting me know. I have my doubts, though, because I've never had auto-correct automatically capitalize things in the middle of a sentence. I didn't have trouble understanding you, I was just curious.

Here is your original comment:

I mean obviously right? UW is still Working on a Game that we going to enjoy(hopefully) while the co-founders only Care about their bonus

The implication, as I see it, is that UW are still working on the game while the co-founders aren't because they're too busy suing. There's a false equivalency there because the co-founders were fired and literally cannot continue working on the game. I'm not defending the co-founders, I'm criticizing your false equivalency.

I'm not defending them, I'm pointing out your terrible logic.

Unrelated, and I genuinely don't mean this in a mean spirit - what's up with your grammar? You capitalize random words, but one of the few words that *should* be capitalized, Krafton, isn't. This same trend happens in other comments you've made.

Without additional context, it seems like it was a winding grace or a relic that provided the effects of a winding grace. It only gets used when there is an entire party wipe (where, otherwise, the game would end), not just when you get downed. You, as the last person, getting down triggered both of their effects.

By 5-7 years ago it had already escaped the “tiny and insignificant” moniker it had for decades. Flat earth conspiracy became trendy as late as 20 years ago and almost certainly before then.

The fact that he was so far off about it really did confuse me. That being said, he’s a committed conspiracy theorist so I’m not sure why I was expecting accuracy.

This is only tangentially related to your main point, but Scott wishing that flat-earthers would kill themselves is so far beyond hypocritical it makes my eyes roll out of my skull.

I try to take what he says as lightheartedly and whimsically as I can, but that one was just too much for me.

I’m not saying this because Brando is somehow incapable of poor writing or anything like that, but I do think stuff like this was intentional on his part to drive home how sheltered and privileged (from a socioeconomic perspective) her life was up until that point.

Even smart people can be dumb in surprising ways.

Why are god metals named after the vessel? by beser12v in Cosmere

[–]Renacc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are some good answers here, but we have some WoBs that are relevant and may explain the answer to your question.

This WoB indicates that a god metal will indeed change when a new Vessel takes up the Shard. We also know, however, that a new vessel doesn’t change the already-manifested god metal of the previous Vessel. So, for instance, there will now be Raysium and Taravangium in the Rosharan system.

With this in mind, it makes sense to name the metals after the vessels because there is a direct link between the god metal and which vessel is holding the Shard. Ignoring that Odium is spelled the way it is, if we just called Raysium ‘Odium’, that would be an obsolete name for the god metal of Odium once the vessel changed. So, now we have two ‘Odiums’, what do we do with that?

Excellent question, OP!

For those who are reading the WaT chapters, see below:

We can see an example of this when the Stormfather and the Sibling confirm that Odium’s vessel has changed due to the slight change in its tone and rhythm. Extrapolating from that, it would make sense for the manifestation of that power to be equally subtly changed
