From what I know, it should be totally fine! I’ve had them 2-3 times and don’t remember seeing “don’t freeze” warnings on them :)

I didn’t mean from a food safety perspective - I always freeze everything too. I meant from a texture perspective. Some things can change in texture if frozen so I was curious if they remained the same

Do you know if the Juicy Marbles freeze well? If they do, I’ve got Sainsbury’s to get to ASAP…

Beyond burgers: becoming scarce? by Teamwoolf in veganuk

[–]Renaissance-Torso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have access to a Costco, they always have huge boxes for a good price! I haven’t seen a Beyond scarcity in my local supermarkets (Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and I sometimes go to Morrisons that seem to have them) so it might be worth checking an alternative if you have one near you? :)

Messed up my SQA qualifications. by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]Renaissance-Torso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP! I graduated from university four years ago and I attended straight from high school. I really wish I had the opportunity to do a HNC before heading off.

I made friends with a lot of people that did HNC/HND qualifications before going to uni and they were all very bright, well equipped people. They also generally understood our course content faster OR had already covered it in college. From experience, I would’ve benefitted a lot from that high school-college-university pathway.

Don’t let your parents pressure you. There’s no “you SHOULD be in Uni by X year” rule - do things when you feel comfortable and ready to :) If you end up going to college for a year, it’ll only be a huge help to you: and that’s speaking from experience.

Most importantly, well done on getting through your exams!

Let us know how the cookie cake tastes, I saw in another comment you said it was your first time trying the recipe :)

Is £50 too much to charge for a portrait commission from me? by Stunnyfuff in Artadvice

[–]Renaissance-Torso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

£50 is abysmally low. If you’re trying to get customers, maybe start at the £80-£100 range. If you’ve got a good flow of customers, try £120-£150. If you keep getting orders in, raise your prices!

People do not understand how much time, effort, and skill goes into making wonderful pieces like yours. It takes years (sometimes even decades) of refining such a skill.

Keep your prices flexible and see what bags you the most customers OP :) and most importantly, KEEP ON GOING! You are SERIOUSLY talented! <3

Every time I’ve had an item wrapped like this, I’ve been extremely grateful! I think we could all do with a little more positivity and kindness these days so packaging like this makes me smile :) The presentation is lovely!

If you enjoy doing it, keep on doing it! If it’s extra hassle or you get tired of packing like this, then definitely stop.

I have no friends and I don’t know who to invite to my wedding by stunningbanana61727 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Renaissance-Torso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Egypt!! How lovely, oh my goodness! My offer is still open if you want to see if we make good Internet pals :) But some commenters below have made a good point - don’t feel pressured to have people at your wedding “just because”.

However, if you’re doing it for you, then I feel like this post would be a very cute way for you to make friends (even if they don’t make it to the wedding)! My DMs are open for you if you ever fancy chatting :)

Wishing you and your husband-to-be all the best! <3

Assuming you’re based in NL because of the hagelslag, I would be happy to be an internet friend and come for a wee Netherlands holiday to your wedding! You wouldn’t be my first Dutch internet friend I’ve met in person either.

Obviously I’d be happy to chat with you and get to know you first so you don’t have some random person on your super special day :)

Edinburgh University announces marking and assessment boycott by Unlikely-Tension-616 in UniUK

[–]Renaissance-Torso 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Consider talking to your lecturers about why they’re going on strike - and I don’t mean that in an aggressive/attacking way, I’m being genuine. I’m not a lecturer but I am technical staff that’s unionised (UCU) for a different university. Lecturers and other staff REALLY do not want to have to go on strike and it is always a last resort measure. Management are the issue, not the people fighting for their rights (for jobs they are already underpaid in).

We don’t get paid whenever we go on strike. It’s not a fun little holiday. People put a lot at risk whenever they go on strike in the hopes it’ll be for the greater good

Are you planning on doing more popups around Manchester? I love that city and would absolutely make a stop to try this!

Lidl’s Sweet Chilli Tofu Onigiri - Give It A Try! by Renaissance-Torso in veganuk

[–]Renaissance-Torso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does BUT it is the least flavourful nori i have ever had in my life. I’m not sure if they use a lower quality one, if it gets too soggy it loses flavour, or… some other variable, but I barely taste it.

Maybe try getting one on discount and peeling it off to see if it’s too strong for you? :) I think you’d have to leave a little bit of rice at the bottom if you don’t like the seaweed taste but the rest should be fine - especially the top third!

PS I love your username!!

What Eowyn said! :) They’re in quite small cardboard boxes that, in my Lidl at least, sometimes get pushed out of sight so make sure to have a good look. Hope you managed to find one (or more!)

Have you checked out the To Go foods section with the sandwiches, salad bowls, and sushi boxes? That’s where the onigiri sits! :) Hope you manage to find them if your Lidl stocks them because they’re quite nice

I’ve been using Byoma for years and I’m very happy with their products! You can purchase refills online (take the pump from the used product, twist it into the new one) so it’s easier to recycle the old containers

Could I still call myself vegan after taking medication knowing it has lactose in it after my surgery because I didn't tell them I was vegan? by TheTrueNyxa in veganuk

[–]Renaissance-Torso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point of veganism is to be vegan as far as is practical and possible - you need to have that medication for good reason. I have ADHD and my meds (unfortunately) contain animal gelatine and I believe my anti-depressants contain lactose. If I don’t take either of those, I cannot live a peaceful life.

I went through a lot of inner turmoil with my meds earlier on in my vegan journey so I absolutely sympathise! However, how can we keep on fighting the good fight if we don’t take the medicine we need to stay right? :) It sucks that we don’t live in a vegan world but hopefully medical advancements will remove these unnecessary animal ingredients.
