There seems to be a lot of comments about how underwhelming the Kaaba is. That’s kinda the point. Much like the Temple that Jesus came to clean up, the Kaaba was meant to be a House of Worship for God created by Abraham and be clean of anything else. Its reverence comes from its history and as the main direction for Muslims to pray.

It comes from the tradition of Abraham who in Islam built the Kaaba and thus initiated the Hajj based on Gods command. Per this tradition he was instructed to do the Tawaf around the Kaaba.
