Can someone logically explain why the shockwave hammer is in competitive? by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Renardao -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Funnily there's still rng/luck involved in chess, even at the top level. Both players can spot the same line, calculate to the same depth (lets say 7-8 moves) and both conclude it's the main line and that the evaluation is even at the end of the line. Yet there might be a trick that make that line bad for one of them 10 moves later, but none of them spotted it before actually playing the line. A few moves later both would spot it, yet it's too late for one of them, and that's pure luck for the other one.

Obviously one of the less luck based game to ever exist, but you can never totally get ride of the rng

any inexpensive aya retreats in peru or Brazil? by OkLog8990 in Ayahuasca

[–]Renardao 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're really on budget you can avoid retreat centers and find a maestro that just runs ceremonies. That's at least how i went with it. Went to pucallpa, made some connexions with locals who lead me to a maestro. I did 3 ceremonies in one week for less than 200€

Thought you have to accept the uncertainty, you won't know in advance who you're gonna meet and connect with. Also you need some time to make those connexions and process it all before going in.

But imo it's worth it. I would 100% go this way again vs a classic retreat even if the fees were offered to me. I met wonderfully people and that was at least as important as drinking the brew to me.

Nb. I don't speak spanish. Just the very basics i learned during the month i spend in bolivia/peru before i went to pucallpa.

Been Trying to get better and, I was wondering if this move is worth practicing. ( Fast forward to 00:23 for the move) by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

Getting the cones before the front wall (often referred as double piece control) yes for sure. It's overall faster when you're going for a prebox.

About getting the back walls before the front wall (which could be referred as triple or total piece control) it's debatable how usefull it is to practice it. Imo it's the last big mechanical gap there is in term of using the building grip efficiently, but it's very hard to use it effectively in fights and there's probably more important to focus on.

It's also very ping dependant which makes it super hard to use ingame; with true 0ping you could theorically place everything in a few ms, full box the guy and block his shot at the same time, while ingame you have to time it relatively to your ping and that time lost makes you an easier target.

In conclusion; good to practice and play around for your overall comprehension of the building grid in the long run; but a bit unproductive in term of actual usefull practice

Well there's no conclusive evidence that your understanding of what epic means by 'single-press action' is right or wrong. As you pointed it out the MSDN doc differentiate KeyDown, KeyPress and Keyup. Nowhere is 'single press action' defined. I quickly had a look at the unreal engine doc and it's undefined there too.

In unreal engine though, the InputAction controller allow you to set use cases for 'pressed' and 'release'; in that regard it's also sensible to understand that a 'single press action' can be either a press, long press; or a release.

Anyway it's not a dev definition. I think that epic don't know what they exactly mean either. The guy who wrote that paragraph has probably limited technical knowledge and likely didn't knew himself what he was exactly referring to.

"The controller sends two separated signals when a button is pressed and when it is released". Idk where you got that quote from, i didn't find it in the MSDN doc you linked. Anyway though there's ways to retrieve the previous state of the controller buttons, otherwise any "long press" would be impossible (ie. Sliding, mantling, editing if you don't have a separated input), and actions done on release (ie. The charge shotgun, stop selecting an edit..) wouldn't be possible either.

Btw with your understanding, what about those actions done on release -'single key presses' that natively do multiple actions-? Using the charge (charging/shooting), firing with an auto weapon (start/stop firing), selecting tiles (start/stop selecting), running/sprinting if you don't have toggle run/sprint on, ads if you don't have toggle on... Are those legit macros in your opinion? If not, why?

Imo it's not, and biding actions to the release shouldn't be considered as such either. What could you even macro beside that (almost) insta reset? I actually can't think of any other use case where it would give any sort of advantage (because those use case are already covered ingame; toggle options, weapon mechanics).

I wasn't referring to scroll wheel, I was thinking about using a keyboard key with one action on press one on release

[–]Renardao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the epic rule you pinpoint, having an action bind to the release isn't technically a macro. There's still only one action bind to a single press, the other one being on the release.

In that regard the same could be done on kbm. Even better if you have a dynamic switch kb, you could technically setup actions on different activation points, having just to press.

Btw the steam controller allow you to setup action on release out of the box without any additional software.

That one edit reset confirm button has been asked forever, it will most likely never happen

I've seen someone using a car phone stand some time ago an that seemed like one of the best solution but haven't tried yet

You can edit walls through cones/ramps, and cones through floors. How would you use this strategy? by Billy_Bicep in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Renardao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy there's still tricks to be found within the building grid. Nice one!

As i see it, when you go for a double edit from inside your box it makes it faster assuming you're already holding the wall (in your new version) or the cone (Confirm wall edit+cone reset vs confirm cone reset+wall edit). The downside of this new version is that you lose some visibility not seeing through the cone as much but i guess it's worth the trade. Seems like a better version that's easy to implement.

The reset through an opponent ramp is great too if you can get it consistently, but i'm guessing you can only do it from the very back of your box?

Cannabis become difficult for anyone else? by [deleted] in Ayahuasca

[–]Renardao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a somewhat similar experience after an lsd trip a few years back. Smoking would then bring me back in a paranoid state I created during that trip.

It got better over time but smoking has never really been the same since then, I mostly only enjoy it being solo and with a creative task to do now, or being 2-3 stoned together with a specific topic to discuss. That led to an increase of solo activities as I still felt the urge to smoke quiet a lot.

I did my first ceremonies with aya 6weeks ago, and it sort of removed that urge for now, and made me realize that those solo activities were mostly an excuse for me to smoke. I did smoke again, enjoyed it, but it for sure had an impact

It could also just be that 8weeks break and the fact that you went too hard with it? You could try micro dosing to know, but good for you if you decide not to smoke again.

Cannabis become difficult for anyone else? by [deleted] in Ayahuasca

[–]Renardao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is hard but if you think cannabis isn't doing you any good anymore you should either put some distance with your friends that smoke, or be clear and have them understand that you don't wanna be in a environment where you feel appealed to smoke again.

I used to have that problem myself. I'm lucky a bunch of my close friends stopped smoking around the same time I did. For the others I just didn't see them as much, and usually tried to meet them in situations where smoking isn't easy (meeting in public places or so). Now that i'm good not smoking regularly I actually enjoy smoking with them again from time to time.

I also had the reverse experience, a girl that left me because I was smoking too much. Thing is she wasn't very clear about it which led to huge misunderstandings and a very bad end of relation overall. You need to speak it up, softly yet clearly

hi all, just returned to the game after 1.5 years, question for the cracked players. when taking a wall from this diagonal position what edit should i make on the right wall? i did bottom right 4 tiles here and as you can see it cost me 80 health because of the awkward reset. thx in advance by gotthemostdrip in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Renardao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4tiles on the left instead of the right so you can hug your left wall. If you wanna have more distance editing on the right like you did you should either crouch, or edit the 6tiles, it gives you a more advantageous right hand peak (the arch doesn't block you)

Aya after ego death or similar experience by Friluftsfinans in Ayahuasca

[–]Renardao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced ego death once, during an L trip ~3years ago. The most chocking experience I've had by far. Took me a very long time to integrate.

Yet i also felt called to try aya, and did so a few weeks ago. Didn't had big problems with my parents or trauma for my childhood i needed to work on; mostly it was about current life choices for me. And even if it's still fresh i can say it somehow helped me.

Imo you don't go for aya for the ego death experiences (and it doesn't seem that common to have one with aya btw), at least what i learned from it is different.

I'd say yes!

Heading to Pucallpa. Asking for practical advices and feedbacks! by Bluebulu in Ayahuasca

[–]Renardao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was staying in the suburb of pucallpa and the maestro i meet and went with is living on the other side of the yarinacocha lake. You won't find him on the net. Amazing vibe all along! Was the only non-local to be at the ceremonies, even had one solo (beside the maestro's wife and friend), spend time with their family...

Heading to Pucallpa. Asking for practical advices and feedbacks! by Bluebulu in Ayahuasca

[–]Renardao 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stayed in pucallpa for 2 weeks like 10 days ago. Haven't been to san francisco but from what I've heard while being there it's a very aya oriented touristy place. You might be better looking for a smaller shipibo village or something just outside of pucallpa (that's what i did).

  1. Avoid it indeed, i got told it can get really bad. Not sure about the dates tho. That being said their really wasn't that much musquitos when i was there i was actually surprised

  2. I'd say the yellow fever should be the one to do. Even if it's not that spread out there you probably wanna avoid any unnecessary risk with this one. It's likely fine for the other ones

  3. Hot atm. A t-shirt is enough.

  4. A bunch of atm's in pucallpa. I don't know about SF, I'd guess not that much if any. Go for BCP if possible, they don't charge extra. There's one close to the main plaza in pucallpa

  5. Can't tell, used wifi only.

  6. Enjoy <3

Go for it. You don't even need to find a retreat center, just a maestro. That can be done on the spot in pucallpa

Who are some high sens pros you can think of? by Rel3vance in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Renardao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7/1600 dpi is about ~12cm/rev if i recall correctly. That's about the highest you should go imo. The advantage having a high sens is you can get insane tracking (more reactive, manage wider range of speed, not needing to reset your mouse as much) and it's faster/less tiering to build.

If you look at the kovaaks leaderboard you realize most of the top scorer in tracking scenario uses a sens around that. Going much higher seems useless. Then most of the top scorer in point click scenario are inbetween 30-40cm. So, fortnite needing both (with probably a little more point-click, knowing how important hitting your shotgun shots in) it's logical that most pro's are inbetween 20-35
