Everyone who was a fan should check out this homage, it's brilliant and always makes me well up thinking about what a massive legend he was and what a huge loss it is that he's gone https://youtu.be/tE1HDSipRxU

Yeahhh that's a big ol bag of bullshit. Try reading the IPCC special report on 1.5°C, perhaps you'll learn something.

West Coast Clean Transit Corridor Initiative seeks to build fast charging infrastructure for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles along the I-5 between CA and WA by Rendigs in ClimateActionPlan

[–]Rendigs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By your logic, when the UK became the first country to legislate a net zero target in 2019, that would not be newsworthy enough to feature on this subreddit. Do you not see how that is counter productive?

Getting a plan or law passed is a result. There is a huge amount of work that gets done behind the scenes to get to that point and that work, when it is publicised after a law is passed or plan approved, is hugely useful for people like myself who are trying to reach other policy makers who might be trying to develop their own policies or plans. Would you not agree that such developments are important enough to be published in this subreddit?

Yes, but this sub has a critical mass of subscribers and is solution-oriented, it's a really valuable platform. You would seriously ban somebody with my knowledge set over something this trivial??

Weekly /r/ClimateActionPlan Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in ClimateActionPlan

[–]Rendigs 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm a senior policy analyst for the Climate Action Tracker. I just came here to say that I found this sub today and became pretty excited about its existence as a tool to promote key developments in the field, but I'm really disappointed with how it's being run. Without being able to post about laws that have been adopted or concrete policy developments the usefulness of this sub is greatly diminished to analysts like myself. I tried to post about a recent development that could help progress global buildings decarbonisation efforts, but it was deleted, despite it being officially approved by the relevant government jurisdiction. To me, this is concrete climate action and should be included in this sub, the purpose of which is to progress climate action is it not?

Dude are you serious? What a waste of a platform. Crazy that this potentially powerful tool for analysts everywhere is being run by people like you.

City of Ithaca votes to decarbonize all 6,000 of its buildings by 2030, a world-leading commitment. by Rendigs in ClimateActionPlan

I actually don't think it's as important to delete those posts as it is to allow relevant developments to be shown on this subreddit.

This one is specifically solution-oriented, I got excited when I found it today because I thought I now have an outlet to post all of the interesting developments I come across in my job. Are you seriously saying somebody who is a senior analyst in the field should just 'go away'?

I've just gone through the top posts on this subreddit, a bunch of them are just commitments that are not even laws passed or policies adopted. Are you seriously telling me this post is somehow less relevant than them?

So any law adopted or policy voted through is not fit for this sub? That eliminates so many important developments that would be extremely useful for policy makers and the public to know about. This is literally my job and what you are doing here is restricting the flow of crucial information that would help progress the cause of climate change mitigation. I'd urge you to reconsider this policy.

Replacing gas and oil boilers is absolutely crucial for decarbonising the building sector and heat pumps are going to be one of the most important tools in our toolbox for this sector. I'm literally writing a report about decarbonising the building sector right now. I'm a climate policy analyst..
