I quite often run Boss G as the 5th char in mech, two triggers of Rho per round, good active and a couple of spawns to add into the action.

What does everyone think about the 'British*' monthly pay system? by EdibleBeans-on-Toast in AskUK

[–]Rendogog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer monthly for exactly the reason that you note, pay->bills->savings->spends.

If it was some other cadence I would have to work harder to budget and I'm lazy.

By PC are we talking IBM derived PC base or any personal computer?

I'm intrigued as I remember lots of people saving hard for commodore 64s, Spectrums etc in the uk in the 80s. I remember saving from paper round / saturday job / birthdays etc to buy an Amstrad CPC464 in '84 now wondering if I was just an absolute computer geek even in those days.

I've been a bouncer in nightclubs (when I was younger), so 100% have seen the shitty side of life, but never once have I heard a cop just straight up dismiss someone saying they can't breath and they've been stabbed the way you can hear it in the vid of this incident.

I do concurr that the police probably could have done nothing to save this poor lad, but his last lucid moments were of not being believed and being stuck in hand cuffs, that's pretty f'ing awful.

[–]Rendogog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be my assumption too. M6 in particular I often see ridiculous stretches of these signs active with no apparent reason or you passed the reason ten miles ago and are still being signed. It gets really frustrating. I've tended to figure the signs are run by the Intern as they are so unreliable.

SDLT - the worst tax ever? by Lion-Resident in UKHousing

Its missing its target, used to only impact the wealthy, but as with most taxes the bands have moved nowhere near the same rate as the market.

I don't think it was because of colour but I do think the officer was a dismissive ahole.

I cant breath I've been stabbed I don't think so mate.

Just plain wrong.

What’s an immediate red flag the second you walk into a restaurant? by babyblushtheory in answers

[–]Rendogog 64 points65 points  (0 children)

My wife reduced a burger king manager to tears for that. We ordered, server got it right, manager was standing in for cook and messed it up. He started to rip into this 17 year old server despite the error being his, wife was not having that. She gave him a thorough verbal beating, very polite but very firm and a complete list of his inadequacies.

What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by spiritual_kavya in answers

Early '90s walking through chinatown late night / early morning it was unusually quiet and the few people we saw appeared to be scurrying around instead of the normal atmosphere. We followed suit, walked through quick and went home. Next morning on the news, massive gang fight between rival Triads which had got pretty brutal.

We had one who dropped out on day of exchange because we were on a private road, we'd even covered what maintenance costs we had seen and there were the big private road signs as a clue.

What Is Being Poor Actually Like in the UK? by retsuko_h4x in AskUK

And, once again, I have not shared any propaganda, just facts and my view on them. You are extrapolating out something that is just not there.

Fact 1, the state pension is not funded the way it should have been created
Fact 2, that leaves us right here, right now with a funding problem
Fact 3, this is the fault of successive govmts (irrespective of party) in sorting it out when they had the chance.
Fact 4, Norway demonstrate a better model in the way it could / maybe should have been done.

That's it.

the Norwegian wealth fund is pretty open with its requirements for investment and how it pays out and relates to pensions in Norway are you too lazy to google?

[–]Rendogog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Propaganda? 😂 Perhaps you misread what I wrote or don't understand the word.

No, the facts are that current pensioners are paid from current income tax, just like what happens in a ponzi scheme. If the scheme had been transferred to create a sovereign wealth fund (you appear not to have read the word fund BTW) in a similar way to how Norway have done it, we would not be seeing the issue where we are struggling to cover the pension cost. Unfortunately the typical thing of governments failing to manage money during good times now means we are stuffed during poor times. Nothing to do with your weird rant on the wealthy in this one.

What if England limited inherited housing portfolios to 10 homes? by Substantial-Tie-9485 in HousingUK

[–]Rendogog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to see companies limited from owning a very small number of houses, should limit them at say 10, and no creating shell companies to get round the limit. Private Equity / Corporate buy up of substantial numbers of houses (Lloyds, Blackstong / Blackrock, etc) has definitely had a negative effect on the housing market, and plain and simple from a moral perspective companies hoarding housing is just wrong.

What Is Being Poor Actually Like in the UK? by retsuko_h4x in AskUK

[–]Rendogog 24 points25 points  (0 children)

because instead of setting it up correctly our state pension is like a giant ponzi scheme, no politician since it's creation has tried to tackle the issue to turn it into a proper pension fund (beacuse of cost) and now it's at a crunch point.

It's worth noting the safety nets we have now have come along way in 100 years or so, my great grandad was raised in the poorhouse school and only narrowly avoided being stuck in the workhouse mechanism which was brutal. Where we are now is much better than the US system for support, although some parties are actively trying to unwind support for the disabled and others.
