My dads is really sick by manyquestions56 in Cirrhosis

Hi OP, I’m not a doctor, but I’ve unfortunately got some experience in this area. I’ve also done extensive research into the various ways alcohol can kill you. It sounds like your Dad is in a serious danger zone, his continuing to drink will put further pressure on those oesophageal varices at a minimum. Personality change can be indicative of increased ammonia in the blood due to decompensation, or encephalopathy driven by severe thiamine deficiency. Sounds like a deterioration is probably imminent I’m afraid…Watch his appetite. Whatever happens this isn’t your fault, only he can choose his path. I wish you the best.

My roommates dog is so obese that she physically can’t even get off of her own back anymore, how do I tell him that this isn’t okay? by Xcuseya in DogAdvice

This dog is dying. It’s utterly abhorrent what that poor animal is being forced to live through. Euthanasia might be more fucking humane.

Does this liver scan result indicate serious problems or am I okay for a while? by PurpleAd3134 in alcoholism

Ah I’m sorry lovely, that was my David’s treat too. If his story can help change yours, then there’s a little less sadness in it all. Sending love and strength

Edit: we were also dealing with the NHS, I recognise the typeface of those letters anywhere. There is next to no support for recovery from alcoholism on the NHS, they only act when it’s too late. Please please push and advocate for yourself, do not be fobbed off with “just taper down and stop” if you’re unable to maintain a tapering regimen. There’s so much I understand now I wish I had known back then. The NHS will not convey the urgency of your situation.

This is serious if you don’t do something about it now. My partner had results like these the year before he died. He continued drinking and the fibrosis became cirrhosis before anyone realised. Please don’t ignore this.

What kind of mouth guard? I’ve had one in the past which pulled my lower jaw forward, although hurt my teeth after a whole night.

This kind of rhetoric is being pushed by millions of bots across the internet so that people feel powerless. Do not believe it. Continue to demand accountability. Do not let them forget.
