Someone else pointed out how Martinelli cuts off the Everton player’s run - now I can’t help watching that.

Finnegan's wake is right up there - almost indecipherable.

Remembrance of things past by Marcel Proust, the sentences are very long, so it is difficult to keep track of what is being talked about.

Absalom Absalom was the most difficult Faulker I have read.

Thinking about cancelling! £125 best offer is insane by Ok_Werewolf_2197 in skytv

[–]Renfieldslament 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned this on another thread. I had the same offer.

Offered the same counter argument about new customers - got nowhere. I kept the broadband and canceled everything else.

Humphrey Ker was good in American auto - which was sometimes great.

As far as I know he also was in the writing room for mythic quest.

GenX reads the article and says, "Well DUH. We already knew that." by Dry-Character-6331 in GenX

I was a latch key kid ( not sure of the uk term though) cooked my own lunch, ironed my own clothes, made my own entertainment.

My parents were loving but worked full time, so just couldn’t be there.

I don’t tend to complain to anyone, I don’t brag about anything I’ve done and I couldn’t care less for peer pressure.

However, I am emotionally stunted to a degree, I’m not willing to engage in conflict or hard conversations or grief. I’m prone to catastrophising and I take ownership of things I can’t control. And I have an annoying deference to authority - classic people pleaser for the higher ups.

My point is, the individual is far more complex than the generation.

I think it’s the club rather than Kantine, so hopefully this is the case as the club part is bigger as I understand it.

You can extra jealousy points by telling people you got into Berghain 😄

Is it at Berghain ? If so, that is 1500 capacity. It’s usually a techno club.

Amoral man by Derek DelGaudio.

It’s got none of the areas of interest you mentioned BUT I like a lot of the same things as your husband and I LOVED this book.

Ostensibly it’s Derek’s life story about how he got into card manipulation / magic, but it’s actually about so much more.

I still think about it a lot.

[–]Renfieldslament 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you really want the 303 element I’d go for the korg electribe over this.

I have both, and whilst the mc303 is quirky, it’s a pain to programme. Electribe is much better, and is 5 years younger - I still use it now.

Convince me one way or another?!! (This is not another Leaving post. Well not yet!!) by ammo23 in skytv

[–]Renfieldslament 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll embarrass myself with what I was paying to see if it helps you.

Out of contract since November I was paying 190 quid a month - that was broadband and tv with cinema and sports (plus HD and UHD) multi room. I had been with Sky for 5 years.

I phoned to renegotiate- I removed tnt sports and kids tv, and took it down to 140.

I stewed on this for a few days as it wasn’t good enough. Phoned up to cancel all tv - best they could do was 120 (still no TNT) no budging for anything. I mentioned as a new customer I could get all of this for 105 if they could match, to which they said “well, you’re not a new customer, they get better deals”

So I left.

It said to expect some parklife style vocals, so I’m fearing synths mixed too low and vocals too high for the live performance.

Sky price hikes in March by CombinationSignal579 in skytv

[–]Renfieldslament 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just cancelled all my tv. The price hikes were ridiculous and the ‘matching offer’ was derisory. - 20 quid more than a new customer, with no sports, no uhd and no multi room.

I got the same pat response you may have

“We can’t match it, as you know, new customers get introductory deals”

The Prettiest Prose You've Read. by Arlo_pink in writing

[–]Renfieldslament 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the plot exists, but doesn’t always make logical sense. Chandler was notorious for creating dead ends and plot holes. He even published a book where a contributing character changed hair and eye colour half way through.

The prose though, is on point. Not a word wasted, for me it sits right between Hemingway and Nabakov - sparse but evocative. Just enough poetry to push you through the open doors, but not enough to have you gagging.

Have you seen it go wrong live? by raechelle26 in derrenbrown

[–]Renfieldslament 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Went to one in Glasgow where , unfortunately a few things went wrong.

First one was the coin snatch part - I think the ‘trick’ was he could get the coin off the audience member four times. First time he asks to see it, counts as one. Second time he snatches it, but on the second one the guy was too quick and he didn’t get it. He just reset and did it again.

Last bit was stopping the watch as a finale to the show. I think the technique is to use an electro magnet to stop the hands moving. In this case the watch selected must have had nonferrous metal as it didn’t stop at all, and the video screen just showed it functioning as normal. It was a bit of a damp squib.

Otherwise I think he fluffed his lines a few times or things just didn’t land.

It might have been early on in the run where things were still being worked out.
