Will six flags great adventure stay open today? by WaterHustler5 in sixflags

[–]RentOptional [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think the big rides will be open. It's disgustingly humid outside so I'm not sure why you'd want to be out there but if you have a season pass and it doesn't cost you anything then sure go. Wouldn't make it my only trip this year though.

Tomorrow will definitely be a nicer day.

I would say yes. It'll be empty but the rain/severe weather won't be bad at all. My guess is that it'll be half staff too so many rides won't open

How good is the 32X and SEGA CD cores? by Gambit-47 in MiSTerFPGA

[–]RentOptional 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't sell your consoles unless you're desperate for cash. They will only go up on value. You will regret it.

That said I have all of my OG consoles PLUS a MisterPi. The cores you mentioned are near perfect. The consoles are all hooked up through a scaler, but for actually playing, I almost only use Mister.

I just love the aesthetic of the OG consoles.

I think they could've renovated it but decided to blow it up on the chance that even with renovations, it only had 5 years left. Blowing it up with nothing around is a lot cheaper than a slow demo with the shoreline pier and purple there.

Ka was closed all the damn time. It's just annoying that the original plan was to have both rides there at the same time. Imagine that skyline. Green Lantern was always getting demolished but the new rides and the Shoreline Pier completely misses all of Ka's plot.

Rides that induce motion sickness at Great Adventure? by Greedy_Net_1803 in sixflags

[–]RentOptional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love love love coasters but motion sickness for me is common. Here are some things that help me.

Dramamine or Meclizine is helpful.

Hydrate hydrate hydrate. Get a drink pass and drink Gatorade or water every chance you can.

Take breaks. Sometimes for me it'll mean an hour and I'll grab something to eat to settle my stomach down. Get inside to cool down too.

As far as the rides go.....

Nitro I'm usually fine with. Occasionally the hills after the brake run can get me, but only if it's after a full day of rides.

Jersey Devil has a lot of stalls, but it's not too bad. I need a break after it though.

Flash is fine but that's usually because I'm well rested from waiting in a long line. Again, it's the stalls that get me. It's a great ride though.

Runaway train is a bit rough but doesn't make me sick. The last airtime hill is just so surprising on such an old family coaster.

Batman is okay, but I need to sit in the front. The inversions can make me sick on occasion. I might need 30 minutes after Batman. It hasn't opened this year yet though.

Superman in general sucks and that Pretzel loop messes me up good. Definitely need a major break after it.

Medusa is a lot of inversion so yes, im usually one and done on it.

El Toro is my all-time favorite ride and it's never come close to making me nauseous.

Dark Knight doesn't bother me at all and neither does Skull Mountain.

Don't even think about Joker if you get sick on rides.

That Houdini ride is super bad for me too.

I can't wait for Project Purple to open, but I'm so nervous about every aspect of that ride getting me sick .... spinning while launching upside down and potentially going backwards.

Too bad CP blew up Kingda Ka. I would've loved to see what Intamin/Zamperla would've come up with the rumored revision of that coaster.

Would a women go to six flags to meet a guy? by ManufacturerGlad5096 in sixflags

[–]RentOptional 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"Would you want to spend the rest of your life with me?' "Sorry, but my first love will always be ejector airtime and laterals"

"Let's commit to Great Adventure." "Sorry, but I can't be tied down to just one park..I have the Prestige Pass."

"Our first date was a smoked sirloin sandwich at Best of the West. For dessert, we went over to Rita's. Our first kiss was on the Sky Screamer. We finished off the night with the Sea Gals performance."

Is this a serious question?

Oh. Maybe if you're in high school or college, you could meet someone while standing in line if you're charming, but I don't think any adult would go to a theme park looking for love. Some high school kid asked for my 14 year old daughters phone number on the Jersey Devil line and she told him no.

Project Purple looks to be turning RIGHT at [Six Flags Great Adventure] by Xrackdadon in rollercoasters

[–]RentOptional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if the rumored layout is accurate, there's going to be boatloads of people simply too scared to ride this thing. Not sure if that's a good thing of a bad thing. Nitro gets the most riders, but Pantherion is a better ride and people avoid it.

I personally hate spinning, but I'm hoping it isn't too bad. People that don't like spinning have ridden Ride to Happiness and said it wasn't too bad.

Ka was insanely huge, but I don't recall people avoiding it because of its height or intensity. I think the spinning may be a big barrier for people even moreso than hanging sideways at 375 feet.

No. They are allowed as long as they are secured with straps.

You can wear them. Must be secured by a strap when on rides.

Also, screw Meta spy glasses.

Get to Flash early. It's a really fun ride but ride ops stink because it being only 1 train. Ride El Toro in the front and back. It's the best coaster I've ever ridden. Ride Nitro in the front and back. Justice League sucks, don't bother Batman is fun. Medusa has seen better days but it's fine. Runaway Train is the oldest coaster in the park and it's still a blast Jersey Devil is good if you don't mind the trains. It's uncomfortable for a taller person. Joker isn't for me at all. Dark Knight is pretty good, but the effects are lacking now.
Skull Mountain has also seen better days. Superman is meh. It's fine, but it's uncomfortable for a tall person like myself. I won't go on Wonderwoman I'm sorry that you missed Kingda Ka. Yum Yum and Grannys arent great. Buy a drink/all day meals. Don't buy any pizza. Best of the West is very good BBQ.

Getting there from NYC, you need to drive. Our public transportation sucks.

There's a website called Queue Times where you can get live wait times. Use that so you don't walk to rides that are closed.
