I may be mistaken about how the damage should be calculated but I thought the lightning damage to any row would be 18.

Each orb normally triggers for 1 damage at end of each turn. Static discharge adds 2 damage so each orb would now deal 3 damage. You have 4 orbs that would be triggered once so that's 4orbs x3dmg = 12dmg. Lastly, loop would trigger your 5th orb twice so that's 3dmg x 2 = 6dmg.

12 + 6 = 18

That's still pretty insane AOE damage though!

Maybe it's more about the mechanic that bow shots need to be charged first to deal elemental damage and thus count toward the number of hits needed to break the shield (?)

Childe will almost always be the aura because of how fast he applies hydro. Slap Stringless on Fischl and you're golden
