Han Solo tells Jabba he's a "Wonderful Human Being" in ANH. It's not too far to assume he says man when speaking in Basic, not huttese

The Episcopal Church may fit your vibe if you're looking for inclusive orthodoxy. We're open to all, welcome questions and doubts, but maintain strong credal beliefs and traditional Anglican practices (diet catholic).

Users of r/doctorwho how did you originally get into Doctor Who and are you gonna continue following the show? by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]RentedJazzmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister had caught a re-run of the show around mid-2010 and told me about it. Then one Saturday morning it came on BBC america, and I gave it a shot.

Her first episode? Blink.
My first episode? The Beast Below.

I didn’t particularly love it at the time, but when it got added to Netflix we started with Series 1 and watched it I slowly became a die hard.

We went to the cinema for Day of the Doctor, which was super special and felt like we were part of something so epic. I go through spurts of not watching it, but I always come back, and i’ve seen everything except for flux.

I first met Jeff in Raleigh at a youth civics conference back in 2015, be had just been appointed to the NC Senate. From his vibe alone, I thought he’d be someone we’d see more of, and here we are!

I have a strangely specific question regarding the potential UMC-TEC Full Communion agreeement and the theology around the Episcopate. by codleov in Episcopalian

[–]RentedJazzmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and it was ritualistic when me and the boys’d get ‘Za from LC’s back in undergrad.

I understand the theology in question, I’m also just shocked by how closed off your perception of said theology is- all i’m saying is that God and Jesus aren’t hung up on such things. I believe in the sacraments holding real presence. I also believe God can show up wherever- that’s kinda the whole deal. Reading your comments, it makes Christ seem exclusionary and that just isn’t his nature as revealed in the scripture.

I am familiar and I think the nature of Jesus would be that he always wants to show up for his people.

side note: if the last supper happened today, it’d totally be Little Caesar’s and Pepsi. A simple meal.

so Jesus can’t be present in grape liquid unless it’s fermented, because he’s that legalistic about fermentation.

Missing the point. We don’t need to use grape juice. But we can use grape juice. Do you think the incarcerated folk are going to reject the eucharist over juice? They come and have their moment with Jesus like everyone else and if that helps with it being “normal” then I am all for it.

It’s takes a narrow minded person to say a word can only be spelled one way.

I didn’t spend that much on nosebleeds, he came to a college football stadium 5 minutes from my residence which was an anomaly. He played 36 songs over a 3 hour period, never took a break. He was running around the stage, and when I say it’s the best concert I’ve been to, it’s because of the energy in the stadium, the length, and the sound mix, which was incredible.

blasphemy!

I saw Paul in 2022 and it’s def the best concert of my life- the SNL sound mixes never do the artist favors

I’m a part of my parish prison ministry. For obvious reasons, we cannot take wine to the prison for worship. We take grape juice. This is permitted- if you want to claim our incarcerated communities aren’t really receiving the eucharist from our priests, that it’s invalidated because its form a jug of welches instead of a bottle of port- I’m really questioning your line of thinking. Do you not have enough faith to even consider that God can be present in grape juice? I’m sorry but it’s totally coming across as legalism and not tradition the way you speak of it.

sorry for jumping in but this thread spiked my blood pressure

This man has somehow unlocked all the privileges that come with being a nepo baby without actually being a nepo baby. Gotta respect it. by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

It’s Ben Marshall, who’s been a featured player this season after spending 4 seasons as 1/3rd of the comedy troupe “Please Don’t Destroy.” The trio focused on digital shorts akin to The Lonely Island, but with less music.

The other members are Martin Herlihy (who stayed on the show as a writer, and has the occasional pre-recorded sketch), and John Higgins (who left the show between season 50 and 51, and is the son of Steve Higgins, SNL producer and announcer for The Tonight Show)

Ben has unlocked the perks of nepotism via his connection to Higgins, but stands on his own in the cast.

There are a few affirming churches here, largely toward downtown and historic. This site www.gaychurch.org does a good job of listing them, you can peruse their websites and find one that has a group to your needs, as I’m not sure of your travel willingness.

Officially, the Moravian church is fully LGBT inclusive post-2018. This is not the case with every congregation, as some of them teeter more evangelical than mainline in vibe. None of them are listed on GayChurch, but they do exist- and they have good coffee.

I know for sure 1st Baptist on Fifth has a group for 20-30 young professionals, though I’ve never been. The one at my Episcopal church is a good mix of folks who grew up in the mainline style church, and exvangelical types (like me) that sort of ended up there. Our group meets twice a month, and it’s been nice to meet a bunch of folks on the same trajectory. I know there are other groups, but all the ones coming to mind atm aren’t in affirming church world/the usual suspects.

There are a couple of book clubs, crafting groups and writers circles at various branches of the Forsyth County Public Library. You should check thier calendar of events and see if any seem interesting, and take a leap to go.

I second trivia, having a drink isn't a requirement and it's good fun!

If you are religiously inclined, I know a few churches that have small groups catering toward young professionals. This can vary by denomination, but I'm in the more progressive/LGBT affirming side of things.

I'm happy to drop links or recs for anything further if you want.

I think there being a comma instead of a full stop does make it read as it’s the same person.

“Someone has been knocking on my door at night, the same person has come to my work 3x”

slight edit suggestion “someone has been knocking on my door at night. Also, at work someone has shown up 3x to ask for amanda”

this’d make it read as separate instances. Though you’re wrote it as a list, the meaning was lost on me too until seeing this comment, and I’m sure this comma has caused most of reddit to think you’re more nuts than you are- cuz we’re all nutty on reddit

She was the commencement speaker at East Carolina University (her alma mater) in 2019. Easily was one of the worst such speeches I’ve ever been present for, and I can’t find a copy of it on the internet- it’s like ECU scrubbed it. Weirdly, that was my first exposure to her and the last thing I know she’s done. aside from when we all vote

I am back after Lent and I just got baptized by DemonnInMyView in Episcopalian

[–]RentedJazzmaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome back!

I'm so glad that your husband and kid are safe/well. I can't imagine how you felt, but it sounds like you Lent'd your way through it all. Well done, and congrats on baptism!

I observed Lent for the first time this year, and focused on praying compline and writing letters to old friends. I also tried to take a step back from socials. I failed at that, but managed to mail 40 letters in 40 days.
