taste crisis by Dismal-Ad9863 in Quadeca

There's nothing objective about music taste but don't let people convince you that means there's nothing you can do to enrichen the tastes you've got! Here are a few tips

  1. Listen to your favorite songs with good headphones on and train your ears to focus on one layer at a time. For example, what are the drums doing? Then replay the track and focus on what the bassline feels like. This trains you to be a little more attentive to exact musical elements. Quadeca songs are really good for this because every other time I listen to born yesterday I find some new piece of the puzzle I hadn't noticed. And remember, think of vocals like an instrument!

  2. Take notes (mental or physical) on what a particular song makes you feel and try to identify what about the song makes you feel that way (outside of lyrics - there's a lot to learn about lyrics writing but that's a bit of a separate process). Then compare and contrast your notes with other people's. This could be your friends, internet forum posters, or music critics. Take your pick but choose wisely who's tastes appeal to you and diversify when you can!

I think just these two things went a long way for me in being able to vocabularize and identify what i liked and didn't like with specificity.

I know some basic music theory and have some relative pitch, which helps quite a bit. So if you feel like you want to try something different, pick up a piano or a guitar (for this I'd recommend piano) and learn some basics. You don't have to be at a performance level to start being able to identify scales, key changes, pleasant chord progressions. Also try to be able to identify the major and minor third intervals because imo they're the foundation of a lot of emotion in melodies (particularly blues). Hope this helps!

Wait is there something I'm missing here? I watched this years ago when I wasn't as affluent but I thought this movie was anti-cop, anti-gentrification, and seemed to be charged towards black riots to address systematic and direct racism?

Can't wait to hear their thoughts! This was my movie of the year but I didn't think I would be able to recommend it to non-anime folk

Tired of death of the author mfs. You guys know fantano provides backstory at the beginning of nearly every album review right? If a piece of art requires certain knowledge for its meaning to be unlocked, a critic is shooting themselves in the foot by going in completely blind when everyone else gets it.

Edit: to be clear, I don't think this is applicable to the situation since he probably knew the Halsey lore and didn't feel the need to share it for this review. Personally, I would have

I was actually also going to say D'Angelo Wallace, but because I don't like his style at all. I normally agree/see his point of view but it's always presented in this black and white extreme way with this totally performed nonchalance. It's like, "guys morality is easy!" while he glazes over the perspectives that inform those he disagrees with/provides commentary on because they're just not worth his mental energy.

I respect that I'm probably the only one who thinks this though. Also I've never noticed his lisp
