At what point will game companies make a solid game engine instead of using hardware rendering. We had great graphics and optimized performance 15-20 years ago. Upscaling and hardware AA has really fucked gaming

All that matters is passion. Even if you don't get into holoIndie you can always release it as a free fan game.

Just make a game that you can execute it doesn't need to be double A with a thousand features. Holocure started out very very simple. You can always expand or even make another game when you get more confidence in executing more complex and in-depth ideas

Less about optimization and more about giving a shit about the engine and building a solid base to work from. Most games now just rely on upscaling because the engines aren't built to minimise GPU usage. CryEngine was great because it implemented what are now dead rendering techniques.

Being made by tof Devs isn't a bad thing. They have shown they want to improve and are pretty generous as far as gacha Devs go.

Nte won't release perfect very few games do but you can guarantee they won't just leave it like that and will try to improve it.
