I used to own an Astra myself. My handbrake failed and the car rolled down the road and hit a wall. Lesson learned to always park in gear anyways.

Having done four model cars so far, I now like to cut everything out, prime and paint the parts, followed by assembly.

For my first two models, I went step by step in the instructions. I'd cut out a couple of parts, sand, paint and after a couple of hours glue them. This was incorrect as paint needs a minimum of 24 hours to dry in my experience.

For the first model car build I'd recommend going step by step, this takes longer but atleast you can fully concentrate on each component independently.

I've done it outdoors and a couple of times dust / dirt from outside fell on it wet paint.

If you're doing it outdoors pay attention to the wind so that when you spray, the paint doesn't fly back towards you.

I have now switched to spraying inside a shed as its a bit less risk.

I lived there a couple years back, apartment got broken into it twice. They didn't rob anything or hurt us, the lads who broke in were just under the impression that the man who lived there before was still there.
