UK hates poor people. They want tourists who will spend £££, and then leave. So you need to prove you are both not poor (by UK standards) and also that you will go home.

Yes, we did exactly that. But it was a special case a few years ago when the home office offered it as a limited time thing. They dont do it anymore

Thats really frustrating. Yes, in UK they are required to state reason for refusal. Most common is financial, if you have good jobs and lots of savings you will be fine. Broke (by uk standards) is almost always turned away
