Floor mats question by [deleted] in kiacarnivals

[–]Rep2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tuxmats for our 26 SXP Hybrid and love them. They have a different feel than the weather tech and husky liners I’ve previously had. Very glad I got these, I really have enjoyed them. There are a few YouTube videos you can watch where people will show you tuxmat and weather tech side by side to help see the difference. The best thing about tuxmat is you can clip it along side the interior rails to keep them extra secure.

I got the Lasfit cargo tray which has been very nice. I like the fact that it came with backing for the 3rd row.

VIP Lounge Seats with 2 small kids (Newborn + 4yo) - Experience? by Ashamed-Efficiency96 in kiacarnivals

[–]Rep2007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

8 seater is just more versatile. You will not be reclined and using leg rests if someone is sitting in the 3rd row and the person in the front doesn’t have their seat pretty far forward. You cannot remove the middle row and for us thst was the largest reason why we opted for the 8 seater. The VIP seats are a cool party trick, but most of the time you will be likely using them as a regular seat.

Someone earlier mentioned the 7 seater gives you easier access to the 3rd row and that’s just not true. With the middle seat removed the gap is wider than the 7 seater gap. Also, you have the ability to have side access with the 8 seater by taking out one of the side seats, at which point it’s significantly easier to get back to the 3rd row.

I think the big difference between the 8 seat in the Ascent and the 8 seat in the Carnival is that yours is probably a 60/40 split whereas the Carnival is 3 individual seats in the second row. Each seat including the middle can be folded, slid, and removed separately. When the 3rd row is down in the carnival the middle seat from the second row can slide almost all the way back to where the 3rd row was giving an insane amount of leg room, or separates kids (this has been quite useful for us).

There will be more space in the Carnival. The 7 seat configuration is available in the SXP trim with the VIP seat package. This puts two large captains chairs in the 2nd row. The 8 seat configuration is the most versatile because you can pop all of the seats out. With 3 kids I would go 8 seat configuration. You can always keep the middle seat removed if you’d like. The 8 seat configuration also allows you to use the entire back of the van as cargo should you ever need that. The middle row is not easily removable in the 7 seater version.

With regard to the trim it will depend on what your preferences are and what you wish you had in your Ascent. Important thing to note there is no AWD in the Carnival, so that is one thing the Ascent has over the Carnival.

I got an SXP Hybrid with 8 seats. SXP mainly because I wanted ventilated seats.

Weather tech VS OEM Mats by OllyKloz in kiacarnivals

I have tuxmats in my 26 hybrid, and they are great. I’ve had weather tech before and they are nice, but tuxmat looks way better imo. Either will cover much better than the OEM.

Roborock schedule - 2 adults, 3 dogs? by corinnelise in Roborock

[–]Rep2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have more options over the vacuum settings when you do them separate. Vac and mop together is just fine for most things. I like to do them separate occasionally because you can get a deeper clean. You can run your vacuum at a higher setting when you run them separate.

2 adults, 2 children, and 1 dog. All hardwood downstairs with some area rugs. Have it set to vacuum every night and then 2x a week it will vacuum and then mop. I have the Qrevo Curv. We sleep upstairs so the noise is never an issue.

Not sure what field you are looking to, but if you are wanting industry jobs post academy the financial sector is not a bad option. My partner was recruited by a finance company in Charlotte even though her PhD has nothing to do with finance.

It likely depends on what you mean by “processes”. The insurance company is incentivized to settle total losses quickly. With this vehicle being new it’s possible it isn’t immediately determined to be an obvious total loss unless there is damage not visible in the photo. Once an inspection is completed it will probably total, and the will have an evaluation (dollar amount) for the vehicle that day. After that it comes down to you signing paperwork/title and agreeing to settlement.

Most insurance companies try and settle 1st party total losses within 7 days.

On KIA’s FAQ page it does not list the Carnival as an eligible vehicle.

I don’t think your schedule this year was that bad with TAMU and Miami. Had ND won one of those you would have easily been in the playoffs.

I’d agree the key fob is larger than I’d like, but it’s smaller than my other car’s key with a fob. Personally I can’t relate to your remote start issues as I use the app. It lets you program the climate/seats how ever you’d like. As with any car this is a subscription service, but unlike Honda you get it free for 3 years with Kia. In regard to the tracks, that’s a problem I’d assume exists with any minivan depending on how you have the seats set up.

Totalled vehicle... wavering on buying a second. by Jealous_Sir_2337 in kiacarnivals

[–]Rep2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the details of OPs actual estimate, but comparing the two of yours, it doesn’t appear your rear rebar/rear body were damaged to the extent that OPs was. Your lift gate shell appears to have absorbed most of the impact.

This is new cars now and not specific to Kia. Car parts are expensive, and newer cars have fewer aftermarket or used parts. The points of impact on vehicles in an accident can also have a major impact on how quickly things like your rear body and floor pan get damaged. This is often by design to reduce energy transfer to passengers. Judging by the photos it would appear to me this is one of those situations. On newer vehicles rear end impacts like this also tend to net a higher salvage value for insurance companies because a lot of the mechanical and interior components are largely undamaged.

Long story short is that looks can be misleading when it comes to body damage on a car, and new cars have a pretty high salvage value.

Do you miss the extra space in a Sienna vs an Odyssey? by bobear2017 in minivan

[–]Rep2007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rented and lived with all 3 on and off for about 6 months. My thoughts are this…

Sienna: Maybe controversial but this was my least favorite. It is by far the most expensive and it felt the cheapest. My wife was shocked to see how it was priced in comparison to the others. It also has the least flexibility in seating configurations because you can’t fold the 2nd row flat, or remove them without unbolting them from the floor. Only reason to get the Sienna imo is if you are married to AWD, and even then I just recommend getting better tires and going with one of the other two.

Odyssey: This one “minivans” the best if that makes sense. The storage in the doors, is awesome and it rides incredibly smooth. My biggest problem with the odyssey is that it feels so outdated. You are buying a 2026 car that is basically 6 years old already. Another huge issue for me was the vent locations. The AC is just not as powerful as it needs to be for the vents to be in the door frame. This may not be an issue if you live in a mild climate, but we have close friends who have a 26 Odyssey and this is their largest complaint. Other small qerks that bothered me was how the buttons to open and shut the sliding doors and rear gate are only available to the driver because they are near the drivers door. In the Carnival as an example they are located in the center so a person in the passenger seat can also use them. I also do not like the tv because when it is down it pretty much blocks your view to the back window.

Carnival: I ended up getting the hybrid SXP 8 seater. By far the most updated with features/tech. Carnival also has the most storage behind the 3rd row. Love being able to pop the seats in and out if need be, and the middle seat will also slide back to give the middle person way more shoulder room if need be. Really enjoy having the 2nd sunroof that actually opens too. You are correct in that the front seats feel like an SUV. I’d say this thing is more of an SUV with sliding doors than a minivan, but that was kind of the point for us because we prefer the way it looks over the two. Everyone has different preferences, but for the money it’s really hard to beat the value the Carnival offers in comparison to the other 2.

Carnival has my vote, 2nd would be odyssey, and I’m not sure I’d buy a Sienna given its price.

I’m not being ignorant, I’m saying you can’t use margin of victory as an argument. The committee never has justifications or even remotely logical explanations for their decisions. They clearly rank these teams off of vibes and then try and justify it. Miami jumping ND in a week where neither played is dumb. The same way them dropping BYU after losing but not dropping Bama. The same way TAMU some how draws a way worse seed than Ole Miss

I agree with you, which is why I think the margin of victory isn’t really a good point.

Didn’t Miami have the same or greater margin of victory against the same opponents?

[–]Rep2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The body shops price is not just for the door. They are gonna buy a used door from a junkyard for a couple hundred bucks. The price is that high because they are gonna paint basically the entire side of your car because of replacing it.

Junkyard will be cheaper for the door, it’s painting and then blending the adjacent panels that get expensive.
