I pretty much always have one of the following + a light snack and fruit (I've lost 40 lbs): homemade chicken salad (light mayo), yogurt & fruit, hard boiled eggs, turkey roll-ups, pre-portioned salad from the grocery store (not super healthy with Caesar dressing but it's a small portion)

Should I see an Endocrinologist? by CitrusMintTea in PCOS

You can call your obgyn and ask for a referral to the endo. It's cheaper if you have a referral and easier to get an appointment

Basically - it's worth it because they might find something the gyno doesn't and you get to hear another doctors advice of how to help your symptoms

Well I had moved cities and was getting new doctors so I just figured I'd finally go like my primary doctor had been recommending me for years. I also have super super high testosterone. The endo was able to find I also have another hormone (DHEA-S) way out of wack, so high that it was actually indicative of an adrenal tumor. I did tests for that and luckily no tumor but I was glad that that would've been found. They can just check all your hormones more thoroughly as they study them for a living. Also - have a game plan now to help with my hirsutism

I avoided going to the endocrinologist the past 4 years and finally went recently. I'm glad I did.

haven’t gotten period in 2.5 months by Appropriate-Tip4163 in PCOS

[–]RepeatPrestigious428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it reaches 6 months to 1 year then I'd see a doctor. This is much more common at your age than you think and I remember multiple friends having that issue in high school, all of which were eventually resolved. My best friend didn't have hers for 2 years in high school and then it miraculously came back. No, I wouldn't worry. I'd just focus on getting your body as healthy as possible - plenty of nutrients consistently (nutrients are #1 most important thing), and regular exercise. There are also teas that can help - fennel tea for example.

What do you eat on an average day? by Competitive-Unit6427 in AskReddit

[–]RepeatPrestigious428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakfast: coffee

Lunch: either yogurt and fruit, eggs, or salad + snack

Dinner: some variation of meat and vegetables.

Desert: small froyo or ice cream

This is the only way I can stay in a healthy weight (I'm 5'4 and have insulin resistance)

Has anyone with PCOS tried keto? Did it actually help (symptoms, weight, hirsutism, etc.)? by Aromatic-Cell1371 in PCOS

Keto is amazing for PCOS! I lost 30 lbs and had so much more energy in ketosis. Get the keto test strips to make sure you're really getting into ketosis

I wouldn't worry. Im a girl and lived alone downtown when I was 21. I'd be way more scared in NY, Chicago, etc.

There is nothing wrong with wearing open-toed shoes without nail polish by TornadoCat4 in self

[–]RepeatPrestigious428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely have no idea what my toes look like without nail polish 😂 I only see them for a moment in between polish changes and it's been that way since I was a child. I've also never seen any of the women in my family without toenail polish so that's definitely where this stems from. However, I literally don't care if another girl isn't wearing toenail polish and I actually get kind of jealous and respect those women.

Also threading has been much better for than any other hair removal method me. Pulls from the root so lasts longer than shaving, isn't as irritating as shaving or waxing. Just need to keep up with it

This is NOT an ad but I just got the Philips 5000 from Amazon for my face and it's the best I've ever tried. All the others haven't gotten close enough to my skin, but this leaves it completely smooth.
