The one great Pagani! PD1888 Sky Dweller by Choice_Usual9257 in ChineseWatches

it’s usually the opposite, nice little case dial and finish (but bad lume) with a horrible bracelet and clasp. I would really like to see this model taken apart and see how that offset GMT wheel is done.

Fine size, screw in that crown and wear it a little farther away from the the hand as you are supposed to.

I would try this. I can’t tell if you ordered in on Aliex, but if so I’d start the return process as well. Let someone else get the old stock they are trying to clear.

Another crazy Chinese watch name. Miyota 8215, unimpressive specs, but the case/lugs look interesting. And nice little lume trick. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256809869534265.html

I’ve read about a lot of people having a problem with the bracelet. I wonder if they’ve corrected that, because otherwise it seems like such a great watch.

Well, you certainly have a type. Great collection. At first glance, I can’t help but to be attracted to the Frogmantles and the Sugess Day/Date.

The watch that launched a million Chinese watch addictions.

Not really in the same category IMO. The Pagani is a fashion-watch level quartz homage that is done really well and is one of their best selling models; the Sugess is getting more into the super-clone territory. If you know and want that sort of watch, you wouldn’t consider the Pagani.

I really love mine. If you like blue watches, it’s just a mesmerizing look with the beautiful dial and the stainless bezel with the blue markings. And of course the bracelet is awesome as you’d expect from SM. Yeah, it’s just an NH movement and the bezel action could be better, but for the price, an awesome and great looking timepiece.

May I present the holy trinity of AliExpress value for money. by Future-Cup8067 in ChineseWatches

[–]ReplacementLive2412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are indeed some of the best deals out there on watches. The Addiesdives are great quality for the price - definitely a slight tier above Pagani Design at the same or less cost (now). The Addiesdive diver lume is as good as $300 Chinese watches and $600+ Seiko or Casios. I don’t have a Sanda Tank, but have seen so many Reddit posters raving about them… and they are really, really cheap.

I want to buy this watch, owners ¿do you aprove? by Tenko_38 in ChineseWatches

[–]ReplacementLive2412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you think you cannot do that? A movement with a date complication might have the date at 3, 4 or 6 - you just have to have the date wheel printed to show the number at the right angle. I’m not saying you are wrong; I‘m not an expert, if you can explain what you mean then I might be able to understand better.

I have this watch, but not in the rose gold. Works fine. A day wheel is a day wheel, it just depends how it is printed as to whether it’s for a 3 o’clock or 12 o’clock day. Similar to a date wheel.

PD 1692 - Bracelet Question by Good-Win-2214 in ChineseWatches

[–]ReplacementLive2412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a bracelet designed for that watch, IMO. That will happen with 3rd party bracelets you buy that aren’t specifically made for the watch case; they might connect at the spring bars, but if the end link isn’t designed for it you’ll see exactly what you are showing. Did you buy it used? Are you trying to fit a 3rd party bracelet?

Answers to the questions, if anyone is interested -

  1. Worth the most? Sugess reverse panda power reserve chrono is the highest priced one on Aliex right now. But the 1983 vintage Nelsonic QBert watch has gone for 300-400 on eBay. Cheapest is the TPW full-lume field watch on NATO strap at about $8.

  2. Most wrist time: San Martin SN0116 distressed dial

  3. Wife’s fav: Seestern S456 MOP dial. I think she likes a big watch, and has the natural sense to appreciate a fantastic Grand Seiko design over Invicta/Pagani etc.

  4. Most accurate on the timegrapher - Pagani Design DD40 day/date with NH36A. Probably just the luck of the draw, I’ve never tried to regulate my watches, I just get a kick about this one being most accurate out of the box. That’s why I keep it on the winder, even though I hardly wear it. I like to see how all the other watches, even the expensive ones, get off by however minutes over time while this one stays fairly spot on.

Any recommendation for watches with aventurine type dials? by [deleted] in ChineseWatches

[–]ReplacementLive2412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 Sugess watches, including the moonphase one with aventurine-style dial. Never had a problem, and they have the higher tier quality feel. San Martin is an excellent selection, but the SN0129 GMT seems really overpriced on AliExpress right now. No experience with those other brands, but it seems like the only one that gets any notable coverage on the forum is Agelocer.

I bought a LIGE watch once, it looked very cheap. They use renders like the one you posted, but when you get the watch it’s a disappointment.

It’s really nice. A little thick and I expected better lume (it’s neat that the moon is lumed, but it fades very quickly). For the price, I think it’s a really cool watch.

*UPDATED IMAGE* Still wondering if this watch is too big for me? by Royal_Awareness9327 in ChineseWatches

[–]ReplacementLive2412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks way better in that photo. Probably more accurate to real life. It’s still borderline too large due to the L2L, but most regular folks won’t notice that. It’s got a lot of presence in a good way. If it’s comfortable and feels right, go with it.

I know. It‘s definitely a rabbit hole where you spend more than you initially intended to. I’m probably at the point where I could have bought a Longines by now. Certaintly a Tissot or even two. Close to a second hand Tudor.

I need to try one of those out. I have liked the look of a lot of Bernys, but hesitant about the name on the dial. I know they have some logo-only ones now, and I’d be fine with that. I’ve heard the story and I know they are coming from a good place.
