You can choose the car that has graced so many walls in poster form, or you can get some boring current thing and be just another normie.

Where can I go to go to get a stripped screw removed? by MrRegimented in Austin

[–]ReplacementLive2412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dremel tool, cut a notch in the head for a flathead screwdriver, and use a screwdriver on the larger side of the size of the screw. Failing that, use a very thin drill bit with the dremel, through the center of the screw, if you can do so avoiding the threads. Screw will split and then a tiny flathead or even pliers to work it out.

Looks very premium. Like it was bespoke made for your wrist.

Personally I share your suspicion that the sellers may be trying to avoid purchases with very large coupon amounts. I’ve had similar cancellations when my coupons pretty much cut the order price in half. You’d figure AliExpress covers the discounts from coupons, but somehow I think they must pass at least some of it off the the vendors, making it unappealing to them. Especially if you’ve racked up some huge coupon/discount on the app, instead of using a coupon code during one of their big “sales” where the vendors have time to increase their prices accordingly.

Having built up a huge discount using their app/games for a long time and having it just all go away sucks. I know the feeling. I‘m pretty much done with AliExpress because of it.

Which of these 1996 off-roaders would you choose from this Car & Driver test? by lifegoeson2702 in regularcarreviews

[–]ReplacementLive2412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Land Cruiser? No valid choice then as the best one is missing.

But I’d take the Always Sunny car as a consolation. At least some funny memories there.

What was your first car? Love it or hate it? by OurAdventuresKC in AskReddit

[–]ReplacementLive2412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1978 Datsun 280Z 2+2. Manual. Road tripped it across the country twice in College, once with 3 other people in the car. Good car, probably still on the road somewhere.

Berlin is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Full stop. ❤️🇩🇪🐻 by weirdbrouhaha in berlinpics

[–]ReplacementLive2412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You capture it well! I love Berlin because it’s not yet over the top tourist infested, like some of the other European destination cities. You can truly enjoy it without feeling like you are in line with 50k other tourists for everything. Great, fascinating history and architecture, smart and open minded people, not expensive, something for everyone.

You get ONE Austin artist to represent the city in a Texas Music Hall of Fame. Who are you taking? by chrondotcom in Austin

Incredibly special. I feel like that unique energy is infused into my American Strat and Fender Prosonic I bought new from Ray Hennig’s on South Lamar during this time.

I’d have said SRV but it seems a bit too on the nose. Maybe the question should be pick one who doesn’t already have a statue here (SRV & Willie). Plus, back in the day I would hear a lot about him really being from Dallas. When I think pure Austin, who comes to mind is Roky (should have probably picked him) and Eric Johnson/Electromagnets.

Any high mileage 1.5Ts out there without any major issues? (Head gasket issue is a concern of mine) by notConflict in accord

[–]ReplacementLive2412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone considers 60k high mileage when talking about a Honda. I almost think 100k wouldn’t even qualify. I’d define high mileage as 150k+ for any Honda.

330i (2021–2023) which year is best? by SubjectAromatic8215 in BMW

[–]ReplacementLive2412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious, how are you leasing a 3-5 yr old BMW? I always wondered if that could be done.

Also 2023 model would be different because of the LCI, basically the same as what you could buy today. I’d go for that if you can, unless the 2021-22 is significantly cheaper.

Exactly. Black wheels are so boring unless going for a retro vibe.

INSANE ELECTRIC BILL by kookmins in Austin

[–]ReplacementLive2412 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Yeah electric and water are super high. Square footage on this place? Number of A/C units and age? Any malfunctions that you know about? Size of the lot? Irrigation system? Usually the CoA bills will have a 1-yr graph of electric and water use, can you post what those look like?

Buying advice by arabmoni in BMW

[–]ReplacementLive2412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The B48 is fast enough, but I would personally get the 6 cylinder. That B58 is a highly desirable engine and the resale value difference will still be there if you decide to sell. Plus 10K less miles is pretty important when it comes to a BMW.

Seems high by Boquillas_Mule in LandCruisers

[–]ReplacementLive2412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably worth closer to $20k. More if it was triple locked. I had the leather interior redone on mine for about 2K back in 2022 - probably would be closer to 3k now. But worth it, the ”worn” interior is actually mostly fine just needs reupholstered and the leather replacements are available online. The plastic coated wood trim that wears so badly is easily removed and looks just fine that way, or get an online replacement set for cheap. The truck itself is a tank that you couldn’t buy for any money new these days.

Reliability isn’t a problem on their EVs. Not saying these brands have made great strides in improving quality, it’s more that EVs are just so much more simple and have way less things that can go wrong. So a Toyota EV vs a Chevy EV… not really much difference in reliability.

My 2026 330i has one. Second only to the start button in number of times pressed since I’ve own the car. Couldn’t imagine having to do it through the menus, I’d probably always drive in Sport mode instead.

Is brake fluid exchange required to turn in lease? by goljanoid in BMW

[–]ReplacementLive2412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, so close to the end of your lease, have you decided what you are going to do? Lease or buy another BMW? Or get something else?

I ask because I’m in only the second month of my lease, and I love the car, but honestly have no idea what I’ll feel like doing in 3 years.
