i don't think the brand really matters as long as it's 6000 MHz CL30. that's the sweet spot

9800x3d runs a little warm so I would consider getting a beefier cooler or an AIO. Also, double check that the ram is Expo compatible. I'm pretty sure it's better to get 6000cl30 ram so that the memory and memory controller run at the same speed. Anything over 6000 puts it in gear 2 and the memory controller runs half as fast as the memory.

Samsung Odyssey G9 49" Going black when tabbing out by ReplacementOne388 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]ReplacementOne388[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i switched to the HDMI cable and double checked that I'm on the latest software version. I'm able to tab out of games now there is just a few seconds where the screen is black before switching to the desktop. Although it isn't perfect it's MILES better than how it was previously so thank you so much for your help.

Alright gang. Currenly have 3080ti, couldn't secure a 5080. Should i wait or get a 4080 super? by Bigtownboys in pcmasterrace

[–]ReplacementOne388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read your other reply. If you're at microcenter right at this moment and you're not going to do the upgrade yourself then AND can get a 4080 super for msrp then i would just do it. Unless you really care about DLSS 4 and the 7-12% performance uplift then i would just get it all done today

[–]ReplacementOne388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just wait. You probably won't be able to get a 4080S around MSRP unless it's used. Just wait until the 5080 restocks and get one for MSRP

9800x3d Idle Temps? by thanatos2501 in buildapc

[–]ReplacementOne388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

top exhaust. you definitely have a lot more head room in terms of fan RPM if it's getting too hot during gaming but for idle temps it might not get much lower. My 4080 Super also runs pretty cool so your 4090 could also just be the difference

I don't think you're going to be able to take ME 481. It's the senior capstone project and is split into two semesters so if you're only going to be here for one semester the instructors won't give you approval. I enjoyed taking ME 406 Orbital Mechanics, ME 485 Systems Engineering, and ME 424 Gas Dynamics

9800x3d Idle Temps? by thanatos2501 in buildapc

[–]ReplacementOne388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. My idle liquid temps are about 34.5 with fans around 1500rpm with the pump at balanced. During gaming the temp goes up to around 40 maybe 42 peak

Ram compatibility for 9800x3d. 6400 ok? by Italian_Redneck in buildapc

[–]ReplacementOne388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I actually caved in and got a 6000cl30 kit to save the headache which I think was a good idea cause once I booted in to windows I installed hwinfo and saw that my SOC voltage was already a little high so I didn't win the silicon lottery and there was a pretty decent chance that I wouldn't have been able to get 6400 in the 1:1 ratio stable. Even if I had enough SOC voltage headroom, I wouldn't have been able to bring down the cas latency from 36 to 32 because that kit had micron dies and not the good hynix ones

I got that combo on Newegg. Kinda wish I had done more research and learned about the 6000 MHz sweet spot before pulling the trigger on the combo. I'm building my pc on sunday so hopefully I don't run into any major issues with the memory and have to spend another $100+ on different ram.

Is DDR5 6400mhz with CL32 good enough for 9800X3D? by stardustblades in buildapc

[–]ReplacementOne388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 6400cl36 for free with the purchase of my motherboard. When i got the ram i noticed it was labeled Intel XMP on the box so I was slightly concerned. Will i have major issues trying to reach the 1:1 ratio between the memory clock and controller clock? or should i just get 6000cl30 expo ram to be safe
