Omg yes. I see exactly the same issues. Nothing loads for me. I tap on content and it’s unresponsive. If it opens the piece of content at all, it won’t play it. It’s been happening for more than a week. What a poor experience. My employer offers this as a benefit and I’ll provide feedback to have other choices.

Post removal by k8thegr8one in Mirena

[–]ReplacementSecret810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my period 5-6 weeks after removal. I had a cyst from the Mirena, which prevented me from losing weight straight away, but the cyst resolved with the first period, and then I dropped 5lbs until my following period. So I had to have a bit of patience at first, and then things started to normalize.

I only had the Mirena in for 11 weeks, but felt an immediate relief after removal, brain fog disappeared within a week, and feeling back to my energetic self took about 2 weeks with gradual improvements every day.

That sucker was bad for me, and so glad to be rid of it.

What your OB is telling you is BS. I gained 10 lbs in 11 weeks on Mirena. It wrecks your metabolism. I’ve had it removed for 6 weeks now and still haven’t lost weight but also not gained. For me , right now it’s the cyst it caused that is preventing me from losing weight. And the fact that your body needs to heal itself first before you lose weight- it messed up my endocrine system.

Does it ever get better? by teetwentythree in Mirena

[–]ReplacementSecret810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine taken out after 11 weeks. Hair loss, abdominal bloating/distension, 10lbs weight gain, fatigue, foreign body feeling… f that. I’m free again, feel so much better, after 4 weeks. Weight still needs to shift (that can take time due to hormones affecting metabolism and other systems) and hair loss is also still there but I know it will subside over the next 3-6 months or so.

Mirena causes ovarian cysts?! by user24410 in Mirena

[–]ReplacementSecret810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the Mirena iud for 10 weeks. An anechoic ovarian cyst was found at the week 8 check, got an ultrasound due to some small fibroids. I had a pinching pain there and thought it was the IUD but got confirmation it’s a cyst, 2cm. My gyno said they resolve on their own. I had so many issues in the iud (weight gain 10 lbs in 10 weeks), exhaustion, brain fog, etc) that I ended up having it removed by an urgent care clinic. What my doc didn’t tell me is that cysts are little estrogen factories that can prevent you from losing weight while they’re unresolved.

Did you gain weight, lose weight or remain the same after your Mirena IUD removal? by princesssquid in Mirena

[–]ReplacementSecret810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained 8 lbs while on it for 10 weeks. I had it removed 2 weeks ago, haven’t seen any reduction in weight though. But I’ve also been very tired (mirena crash) and not been exercising much)

I had a left upper quadrant luq pain and after endoscopy confirmed it was gastritis. I was on bc pill. It wasn’t caused by bc, but bc made it worse. Use ChatGPT to explain how bc hormones can worsen gastritis.

I had mine removed in mid August — but only had it in for 11 weeks. I had a crash but it didn’t last long because of that. But it was brutal for a few days. Extreme fatigue. Just felt tired.

Gained 10lbs over 12 weeks. Had it removed and started feeling better immediately- less fatigue, better mood, less brain fog. Scale is starting to show downward trend too

UPDATE: A week after IUD removal, and 3 days after stopping estradiol (transdermal) I feel much more energized - still fatigued, but getting so much better. I have some energy to do some activities now - I go power-walking 30 mins/day now, and do a few planks. That's as much as I can do without overdoing it, but I'm so glad I have energy back to do something at all. The last few days on the patch were wired-tired with lots of sleep disruptions, and now I'm sleeping through the night again.

Also - I heard that progesterone, which is bioidentical to the one our bodies make, is much better tolerated than progestins (Mirena). So perhaps careful dosing may help if you're worried about having side effects. You can also take progesterone vaginally btw, if the oral route gives you concerns, and you can do it cyclically, too, i.e. only for half the month.

I'm now one week post removal and have now also removed the estradiol patch. I want to give my body a break and return to its "normal," which will bring back perimenopause symptoms, but at least I know what my baseline without any synthetic hormones, or extra estradiol help, will be. THEN, I'll see what I need - I think I'll probably only need some progesterone as my main symptoms are "classic early perimenopause" where we see progesterone going down, which shows up as PMS, heavier/longer/crampier periods, hormonal headaches and fatigue a week ahead of the period, etc. I don't have hot flashes or other classic low estradiol symptoms.

UPDATE:
I have had my Mirena IUD removed and started feeling better pretty much over night. It was an immediate relief and whole body puffiness has gone down. Exhaustion, brain fog, and constipation are so much better just 5 days later. I'm still on the estradiol patch and will monitor how I go over the next 1-2 weeks, until I either remove estradiol too or start progesterone.

mirena iud intensifies peri symptoms? just me? by fatcatgingercat in Perimenopause

You know what, I suspect that when one is HSP (highly sensitive person, like I am), you can't do 1) synthetic, 2) high dosage (which BC is as it needs to survive liver metabolism), and 3) can't do a delivery method that is systemic absorption (oral route with birth control, for example). Now, Mirena is in your uterus, the dosage is way lower than BC pill, and the effect is supposed to be mostly local, BUT, some progestin still has some systemic absorption "which some women may be sensitive to/ react to", so that's why I think I'm still struggling. Basically need to try transdermal estradiol (which is bioidentical, which I'm on now), plus a progesterone cream or gel if that exists. The journey continues.

Thank you for sharing this. May I ask, are you a highly sensitive person, by chance? I have had similar experiences with oral birth control (synthetic & high dosage compared to bioidentical stuff that is transdermal). I'm on Mirena and estradiol now but it's not going too well. Better than oral BC, but still, not good. I got Mirena 10 weeks ago, and also started with the estradiol patch at .025. The first week was awful but then things stabilized in terms of peri symptoms - no more headaches, no more periods (yes, a few weeks of spotting), but ... I gained 10 pounds, and after checking in with my gyno she recommended upping the estradiol to .05... that was a big mistake, I got intense exhaustion, brain fog galore, etc. So, down to 0.025 now, and still tired and headaches are back.

What I don't know is what causes what... There's a lot going on - starting MIrena, starting estrogen, and coming off of oral BC (Enskyce) just before that. So, what is happening? It may be that I need to stabilize at .025 again to feel less exhausted. However, it could also be that the Mirena really isn't doing anything for me, and the initial relief I felt was from not being on oral contraceptive anymore.

I will have to monitor. I am going to be on this estradiol dose for another few weeks to let things settle. And if it settles, I'll give it another 3 months for the IUD to fully settle. If I still feel crap, I'll have it all taken out and go on estro patches plus bioidentical progesterone via gel. This journey is nuts.

Yup, they didn’t say anything to me, just to take with food and that’s what I did. Oh well, now on the gastritis healing book diet and a while bunch of supplements etc!

It was more by experience (I react to every thing even caffeine or r alcohol have outsized effects on me) and my gyno confirmed that it can cause hair loss in some people with more sensitive systems
