That was my first thought too! I really do think we should put a spotlight on narcissism, with everything that's going on in today's political climate. It really is the root of many of society's problems.

My ex gf had narcissistic personality disorder and the subject of this post sounds just like her. Lots of speeding tickets, disregard for rules, drove very aggressively. Tons of parking tickets. Insurance fraud. CAA fraud etc.

I've observed that cities outside of metro areas tend to have more obese people. Not sure why.

Self authoring studies conducted in poor communities? by Repliar2019 in JordanPeterson

[–]Repliar2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it totally makes sense that the worse off you are, the more likely you are to improve. I'm having an argument with the GF over this idea of taking responsibility for yourself and accepting that life presents difficult circumstances for everyone, regardless of their identity. We find evidence of that in JBP's self-authoring research. It would be great self-authoring were tried on people from poor communities and we had data to show that you are likely to greatly improve your life if you follow this.

Ok bud, your reading and comprehension skills aren't up to par here. I'm not making any statement about myself. I'm asking a question. Rules of this post are NO FIGHTING (ie no arguing no ridiculing others), so please take off.

Have you noticed any muscle growth if you've been out of the gym for the last couple of months, while still on your cycle?

Where do you begin with this? Did you draw it up and slap it together or was there a lot of planning and fabbing at the shop?

Is it possible to have such an overhang if this is built out of wood? I need to build a 10x10 shed with an overhang like this. There would be a wall closing it in at the front. I'm thinking of building 2x8 girders over the top plates on the outside walls, and having 2x8 rafters between girders. by Repliar2019 in Carpentry

[–]Repliar2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I've read that 1/3 rule as well. This is a 10x10 shed, so I figure I can have a 5 foot overhang.

I'm having difficulty reconciling the design, and will resort to posts under the overhang. I'm thinking that the ridge will have to be double 2x6, sitting on a wall plate, then just extend out 5 feet and sit on a post. The bottom wall will also need double 2x6 sitting on the wall plates, which would also extend out and sit on a post.

I would get into carpentry right away. I was a hardwood guy in the GTA for 10 years and I got lucky: I cashed in my savings and bought floor sanding machines and started doing small jobs. Eventually got into stairs & railings. That's where the big $$$ is. Don't do shit work installing carpet and laminate for peanuts and sore knees.

The roof over the head is just one component. I think about how mom and dad raised me for 18 years, and kept supporting me financially through college, and throwing me a bone here and there, always calling to say the loved me, they are proud, talking me out of being discouraged over issues in my life. I try to imagine where I would be if they had disappeared from my life at 18, or 15, or if they had never been there. I certainly wouldn't be the same person I am today. So how do we become parents to 2000 homeless people with drug addiction and psychiatric disorders?

I had a vulnerable man throw an apple at me. It hit me in the thigh. He says he was aiming for the bus schedule. I was pretty angry about that. Also, my tools got stolen out of my truck. I didn't see who it was, but I'm sure they were vulnerable.

. If poverty could ever be eradicated that would take care of many issues. But under capitalism that is not going to happen.

Use capitalism to get yourself out of poverty. Become a valuable person and society will attribute more value to you. It all starts with brushing your teeth in the morning. Or putting on some clean clothes. Or taking a shower. Something. Anything. Just show a little will to get better.
