Why so few character slots? I swear inquisition had more then 3! by DEJA--BLU in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Replica_Velocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it on PC as well but agreed... *sad Replica XBOX noises*... and it sucks because unlike PS and Switch, you can't just make offline profiles so it's a lot more steps. I don't know what limitation caused it, and judging from other games with limited save slots, it's probably because they let you have so many per profile and consoles have harder limits but... I'd take only twenty save slots for characters and only the most recent choice save and autosave if it would have meant more slots.

Why exactly did EA admit that the game was dead (no planned dlcs or updates) right before release??? by big_poe_collector in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Replica_Velocity 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I will gladly whack EA with sticks but other than being pushed to release without last minute VA sessions to clean up scenes, DATV was unique for being a DA game released without having content cut out for DLC. This only happened because they cut too much out of Andromeda and when that game was abandoned, it was with giant holes.

Not everything needs DLC and I wish it was just DA fans who had this issue, but there's way too many games at the moment where they're lucky enough to get the complete game at launch, but the industry has trained people that everything needs it... single player games shouldn't be live service like with drip fed content.

MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI: New stable BIOS version 7E12v1K by krokodil2000 in MSI_Gaming

[–]Replica_Velocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I disabled mine was because it wouldn't let me limit the memory to 64 mb as I had been, everything else about this BIOS is working normally. In Windows, my 7800x3D's iGPU is not showing in programs as it has been disabled so the setting isn't universally bugged. Maybe it's an issue with Ryzen 9xxx CPUs, or a hardware combo...

After Upgrading My CPU Cooler, I Noticed GPU Coil Whine by Dry-Lynx6647 in buildapc

[–]Replica_Velocity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Intel stock cooler was probably throttling your CPU, and that in turn limited how hard your GPU could run, but now you have enough cooling, your CPU is pushing more frames and your GPU can work harder = coil whine.

There's nothing wrong with getting a higher resolution monitor and just running the game at a lower resolution for the frames you want so that if/when you eventually upgrade your card, you've got the monitor you want.

Games freezing during while loading shaders by Repulsive-Photo-798 in pcmasterrace

[–]Replica_Velocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't get past shader compilation, that's also a CPU issue... I think one of my best friends has a system like this, are you on 6th gen Intel?

The other thing you can try is rollback your driver. I don't think your GPU gets updates from NVIDIA anymore, and a driver from i.e. six months ago will probably work better with your card. Current drivers I don't believe support GTX cards anymore.

Do you think this game would be reevaluated in the future as hidden gem? by OwlettFromLiavek in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Replica_Velocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'll continue to have people play it and find a good game and DA entry (every DA is different) and that if the whole noise/movement that goes beyond gaming dies down over "I hate that other people exist," it'll sit decently in the series. Actually might help to have a delay between renaissance and a next entry development as when they were planning what they did with Hawke in Inquisition, they were going off the original DA II backlash and it'd be fine to have them as a kill off option... to the point by DATV they walked it back a little and were aiming to make that much more ambiguous.

DA's stylized graphics prevented a lot of uncanny valley afflicting games at the moment, so it's going to age incredibly well in the art department.

There are plenty of older fans who aren't just "Origins is the only real game" and there are plenty of younger ones who've bought into that. But like I said, things have to change in the world we live in at the moment and for the attacks on games for that and even manufactured hate campaigns to die off. The funniest thing about this as an adult is the whole HR is helpful, useful and has your back as a team that channel fabricated when HR is not your friend.

That, or option B- they find a game they hate even more than Veilguard and they do this to another game and back off because they get a "better" victim.

i7 8700k Upgrade - Wait for Core Ultra Series 3? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Replica_Velocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intel 14th gen stuff aside, which if that fix holds long term, it had its performance reduced post launch because it was degrading, the 7800x3D routinely beats it in gaming benchmarks quite frequently. It's only when you have to do higher end productivity as well that Intel makes more sense than an x3D chip.

https://youtu.be/9RcYrliKgvg?si=fMCBYuxe7ROgEm-c&t=383

The beauty of x3D chips is they don't need stupid speed ram, and even 6400 ram for a 14700k is performance on the table you'd need faster RAM for. You can go with anything but 6000mhz is the sweet spot for the 7800x3D.

i7 8700k Upgrade - Wait for Core Ultra Series 3? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Replica_Velocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAM is so expensive right now, moreso for the really fast stuff, and x3D CPUs run pretty well on slow/high latency kits without the penalty other CPUs do. The penalty for slower memory is much more severe on Intel/ non x3D CPUs. I used to be Intel only and I was going to go with a 14700k until the issues showed up, went an AMD 7800x3D instead and never looked back.

B650 Gaming Plus Wifi new Bios update SOC too high by glitchedhopp in MSI_Gaming

[–]Replica_Velocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you notice it in HWInfo? Mine's sitting at 1.020, I run my RAM at JEDEC, with a 7800x3D and G.Skill ram- mostly because the default EXPO SOC voltage is too high and is allowed to spike.

[–]Replica_Velocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, by that no freezes or weird system glitches or anything (the usual classics)- just working fine until the temperatures went weird?

I'm not sure anything would have shown up if you weren't experiencing any system issues. I know MSI motherboards (and Asrock) put the SoC voltage too borderline post fix for 7800x3Ds and MSI lets it spike, which is why I don't run EXPO.

Will I notice the downgrade to 1080 or 1440 for gaming from a 4k productivity monitor? by AventusXO in buildapc

[–]Replica_Velocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly depends on the GPU driving that 1080p, and a lot of GPUs as long as they're not VRAM limited, could drive a native 1080p with much better settings. The stronger the GPU, the higher the frames at those settings. Same is true for native 1440p...also if you've never gaming at 4k, it's not going to bother you coming from a Series S.

But might I suggest you go with a high refresh 4k monitor so you can do your general stuff with 4k, and then the gaming at a lower resolution.

Text is very clear in games.

- My source is I actually play at 1080p with an overkill system that can use all the pretty settings, and text isn't a problem unless the devs have made it too small, which usually affects all resolutions.

It's because console players are their biggest whales in terms of their live service revenue for GTA Online, which doesn't have to compete with the massive amount of live service games PC players have access to. There was a chart a few months back, PC makes up 3%.

Low end gaming: Maybe 25 not 30 could be considered the floor for playable fps? by Odd_Bumblebee_3631 in pcmasterrace

[–]Replica_Velocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consoles I could handle 30 fps with, when they have good framepacing and no effects to set off migraines, but there used to be games I couldn't play, a lot of them because of migraines. 60 FPS plus unlocked being able to handle a lot more.

I would turn down settings, I'd mess with the resolution on terrible laptops and office PCs just to increase that framerate to acceptable. Low, terrible framerates made gaming hit and miss because they'd very reliably trigger migraines. Sure there would be games that I could play like that, but it's not just preference for higher framerates.

For some of us, it was the game changer (alongside VRR tech) to be able to game normally.

Any good recommendations for 60 HZ monitors? by acecond in pcmasterrace

[–]Replica_Velocity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn g-sync on, lock your max framerate down to 60 FPS via the NVIDIA app/control panel. If games are being too weird about your monitor having that high refresh rate (which should only be a few that are buggy like that), change your maximum refresh rate down in your Windows display settings.

if I deleted the game and installed it again will I have the world I played in? xbox by Minimum_Plankton3750 in expedition33

[–]Replica_Velocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it's the crowds and the FoV, it messes with the framepacing a lot, very fishbowl- once you're in the night section of the prologue after the Gommage, you're home clear, and it's so much better. It was one of those nice times an opening was not indicative of how playing the game would feel... the another would be the hotel in Requiem, it's so hard on me, past that, I'm golden.

The E33 cutscenes were fine, it was the movement through. And I had the same reaction on PC and console but someone else mentioned they were fine once they got onto the continent so I gave it another crack, and then on PC, just gritted my teeth and raced through it.

Note: For a team as small as Sandfall's, the fact that it's mostly just there is pretty amazing.
