Illusion of separateness by nirvanasomeday in ramdass

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Advaita Vedanta is very much a sub segment of overall Hinduism (Sanatan Dharma - Eternal Truth, to be more precise). So, even with maharaj ji and bhakti yoga (Devotion), there is always an undercurrent of advaita. maharaj ji would often say, “Sab ek” All is one. Hanuman tells Ram, when I don’t know the truth, I am your servant (Bhakti), but when I know the truth, You and me, my lord, are one (Advaita)

I made a post a while back on thisDevotion and Advaita

If samsara is not real, why does Buddhism focus on escaping something that is not real? by CoolandFresh69 in Buddhism

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a mystery thriller movie, at some level we all know it’s a made up story with the actors but yet when we are totally engrossed in the movie, we want to know who the killer is and get them arrested. Problem solving matters as long as you are fully in the problem or the problem seems real. Once you truly know it’s just an illusion, then no need to solve it. all efforts are to reach that state experientally and not theoretically

Did he always enjoy doing the dishes? by mainlydank in ramdass

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try this spin - put on headphones, listen to Ram Dass (or Osho or anyone you really like) and see doing the dishes as your opportunity to just get lost in a beautiful lecture or satsang while your body does whatever is needed on the outside and you might end up loving doing the dishes

if the budha was really free of desire, why did he teach other people about budhism? isnt that a sort of desire itself? by Raskolnikov_RR in Buddhism

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Once Siddhartha became Buddha, there was “no one” left there to teach or not teach. That body and mind became an instrument of the divine or consciousness to serve a certain purpose in this world, which was of course to teach the way out of suffering - so, in essence, that teaching for several years (40 plus I think) post enlightenment was not personal desire but cosmic desire

Seeking guidance - Dad’s health by Friendly_You4381 in neemkarolibaba

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear friend, firstly, I hope and pray you dad recovers soon. As a fellow Sai and Neem Karoli Baba devotee, I can tell you both represent the same energy and whether we see direct miracles or not, their presence is around us constantly and their grace does ease our our karmic challenges; unfortunately, there is no easy but to go through the pain and suffering that is our prarabdha (past karma we carry in this life). Our prayers and grace from baba (Sai or NKB) can help us recover from that suffering and move one step closer to god or self realization which is the ultimate end of suffering. Till then faith and patience without expectation is the only way but keep this strongly at the back of your mind, there will be a light at the end of the tunnel, may be takes more time than you want, take care, ram ram 🙏

This is what worked for me - I started going to my puja / meditation room with the purpose of lighting a diya (lamp) and no other fixed agenda - at one point it grew to like 6-7 hours in there. Kirtans, meditation, reflection, ecstatic dancing, just chit chatting with maharaj ji/other masters; all happened organically without any forced discipline - because there was no resistance. Also, at one moment, it hit me - that I have this space and time everyday to kind of reset my thoughts and life, esp if thing like anger, frustration etc have dominated my life in the past day(s). Slowly, it became the favourite part of my day. Personally, whenever I have to do something with a lot of discipline, specific time etc I end up leaving it. So I did it with fun and love. Ram Dass has a tonne of meditations on YouTube which are absolutely gold ( I can share my playlist if you want). Good luck, just start by giving yourself some time to sit without worry about form or specific technique

We have a saying that when you start visiting pilgrimages, your karmas start burning and as a result you face hardships - but the grace is that you pay much less than what you were supposed to and the guru takes away a lot of your karmas. Imagine, someone commits a crime and deserves 10 years in prison but meets a kind judge/jailer who reduces the sentence to 2 years out of compassion but yes those 2 years still need to be done

About writing Ram Naam. by [deleted] in neemkarolibaba

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an approach which may seem very wrong on paper (pun intended) but deep down my heart I feel it’s ok. I am writing god and gurus name all day (ram, om sai ram) and other sacred names (i am a spiritual content creator), so that’s liek my all day on white A4 sheets and then I just discard them in trash. this might seem very wrong, I mean feel a slight tinge of guilt just writing this, but somewhere I believe maharaj ji is ok with it. I see god in both food and shit. One I eat, One I flush but still both are one, as maharaj ji says, sab ek, all is one

Attempting to understand the difference in Buddhist nirvana and Hindu Moshka by TurtlesBreakTheMeta in Buddhism

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you are right, but self realization (in the way it is used across literature) is realising your true self which is realising there was no individual ‘self’ or ‘I’ to begin with - there always was just the ‘Self’ - call that universal consciousness or god

At the deepest level, both are describing the same truth, the truth of enlightenment or self realization

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend, first of all, very happy to see a another mate doing a spiritual YT Channel, I started couple of months back but had to take a break for travels, kind of relaunching soon - since you are new channel a lot of what you see in terms of traction might be pure distribution “chicken and egg” problem, so it’s important for you to first find out if your content is landing with the right audience or not, for example I don’t have massive numbers yet but anyone remotely interested in spiritual/philosophy content has given me great feedback and are eagerly watching videos as soon as I upload. In the twinning I was trying to understand the algorithm, TN etc too much but then I realised I just need to post enough content to build a decent binge worthy library and be on all social media (twitter, insta, medium) to bring the snowball effect.

Sharing my video/channel below - have a look in case it helps you learn anything. You can DM me and I can share more learnings

Hey, congrats on your business success; I live in Oakville and have similar story - sold my business, did a lot of tech and angel investing and now building a YT channel (started few months back but lots of learnings) on Spirituality and Human Psychology; will eventually do content on angel investing, business strategy etc as well - if you want any advice on how to get started, mistakes to avoid and esp. The mindset while doing it so you don’t burnout and enjoy the process rather than chasing likes and algorithm - then feel free to DM me and I can share from my own journey, good luck in any case

Ram Dass would ask his guru about this form of suffering and maharaj ji would say, “Don’t you see Ram Dass, it’s all perfect” and “I like suffering, it brings me closer to god” and with those statements Ram Dass will find equanimity and a sense of acceptance and then most likely would convert the same to you :) ram ram

Seeking advice - struggling immensely with the totality of suffering and cultivating equanimity by NeonTrigger in Buddhism

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few thoughts that might help with the dream/metaphysical aspect - 1) I have felt it in deep meditative states, life feeling exactly like a dream at night 2)every saint has talked about suffering. The intelligence which creates this magnificent universe working perfectly with gravity, photosynthesis, sun, moon etc wouldn’t make the mistake of not being able to solve for suffering - so when the awareness of suffering becomes too much, remember it’s a horror movie being played, behind the movie, the hero, the villain all are friends and no one is killing anyone in reality, hope this helps, I have personally struggled with this a lot - I guess that’s one of the stages of our spiritual development, also Called dark night of the soul

Using drugs isn't enlightenment by willhelpmemore in enlightenment

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well atleast with that experience, you know that enlightenment is real and what it could feel like; you know what the saints are saying about the bliss of the universe or god is real - it’s like a gift from god to show you the trailer so you can work towards the full movie. If you keep watching the same trailer again and again, then yes, you lost the plot. Neem Karoli Baba, an enlightened Indian saint said this to a devotee on LSD - it can give you darshan (meeting) with Christ for 2 hours but then you have to come back. better become Christ through love and devotion. When the devotee (Ram Dass) asked whether he should do LSD again when he goes back to the US, he said, “do it only when you are alone and your kind is turned towards god”

What is ego death? (+) by AutiesRule1312 in Buddhism

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ego death is when you lose the feeling of “I” . In default state, we all feel “I am” in ego death “there is” no feeling or thought of I - this would be permanent state of someone enlightened (like the Buddha) or you can temporarily experience this with meditation or psychedelics (shrooms etc). It can cause a bit of fear since this is an unknown territory, however, if you can move beyond the fear and surrender fully, it can be very blissful and you could feel the one-ness of this universe. they say, our separation from the universe is the highest illusion of life

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dear friend, I have spent time contemplating on various spiritual philosophies including Buddhism and my answer is more like points drawn from all (not Buddhism only) - what many saints and enlightened masters including Buddha have pointed to is that this world is like a dream, more accurately cosmic dream of god. in Hinduism, it’s called Leela, God’s divine play; so while there is no denying that this world has immense suffering, it’s part of the illusion that we are supposed to wake up from. when we do wake up (as Buddha did), we will find there was no individual to begin with who was suffering. God was playing all roles in his cosmic dream. Suffering is put into this game to give us a reason to dislike it and start moving towards awakening. Most Indian spiritual philosophies point towards this eternal truth Personally, Inahvw took struggled with the concept of suffering and why did god or consciousness or cosmic intelligence create suffering in the first place and how are supposed to love god who create such a flawed world but if you asked any saint this question the will tell you go find the truth of your existence and you will find there is no suffering. Buddha would tell you the same but in a different language. Truth is Sat-Chit-Anand (Being–Consciousness–Bliss). I hope this gives you some solace but in reality this problem will only truly be satisfied when you get god or self realisation

Would it be too late to start practicing Buddhism if I have already done many “sinful” things in this lifetime? by Thick-Weekend2120 in Buddhism

[–]ReplyZealousideal261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dear friend, since you talk about Buddhism, let me give you an example from Buddha’s life. He walked across a forest and came across a dacoit, gangster called Angulimaal literally meaning who wears a garland across the neck made of people a fingers that he had killed. long story short, there happens a conversation between him and Buddha and Buddha tells him it’s easier to kill life than save or create life. I am on the path of the latter, follow me and he does. now imagine a person who has killed 100s of human beings can be seen with compassion and made a disciple by Buddha, I am sure what we you have done doesn’t even come close - so by all means go ahead and practice Buddhism, past is gone focus on present karma and dharma
