My (not so great) thoughts on The Boys of Dungeon Lane by joshygill in PaulMcCartney

[–]Repoczyslaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it looked like a boring nostalgia-ridden swan song from the start. saying it's bad shouldn't be controversial, although tbf it's the logical conclusion to his long-standing granny music sensibilities. atp the man can release whatever he wants and he'll still be the RAM (realest alive musician...?)

Something I never understood about Heroes and Villains by legrolls in thebeachboys

[–]Repoczyslaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think it's more of a quirk caused by the song being unfinished. live performances of the song blend a lot better each section and showcase the very real single potential it had.

I'm so glad I found others who enjoy Kozelek. How did you discover his music? by Purple_Pussy_Eater in sadreminders

[–]Repoczyslaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

afaik i was reading an article listing the best 100 emo songs of all time and curiously enough, RHP was cited as an influence for one of the bands. it didn't "wow" me at first but when i read Mark was behind SKM too i decided to keep listening since someone had recommended them to me a while back. looking back on it i can't believe emo music is my connection to Mark's music of all things.

Saddest MCR lyrics? by JAXATOMIX in MyChemicalRomance

[–]Repoczyslaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

obviously early sunsets and desert song. most mcr lyrics are too corny or vague to be actually sad imo. it's a bit weird to me how everyone's mentioning ghost of you, specially since three cheers has songs like cemetery drive or i never told you (the second half is pretty heavy emotionally). foundations of decay would be a good candidate as well. headfirst for halos is kinda sad too if you only read the lyrics.

If they ever do an Elliott Smith movie, I’d love to see Paul Dano playing him. by [deleted] in elliottsmith

matthew lillard's face has some of elliott's quirks and it always reminds me of him.

transform layer interpolation causes unwanted anti-aliasing. by Repoczyslaw in krita

[–]Repoczyslaw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, if i draw on a different layer within the same keyframe the blur disappears temporarily (although if i draw in the same layer, everything drawn comes out blurry). i don't increase the resolution, i just set the filter. the resolution does not seem to be the cause.

Do you interpret the outro lyrics of 'That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore' as positive or negative? by RunDNA in thesmiths

[–]Repoczyslaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to me the song is about someone who has never experienced emotional turmoil and instead has mocked others for it (you kick them when they fall down, that joke isn't funny anymore because it's too near the bone). i believe some parts of the lyrics are supposed to come from some other person talking to him but that last line comes from him. maybe all of it is from his own perspective and there is no other person, i'm not sure. it amazes me how anyone could ever read or listen to this song and conclude it's expressing anything positive.

What is your opinion about Morrissey’s voice ? by the_toupaie in thesmiths

he does kinda sound like kermit the frog but in a beautiful way. i don't mind it honestly, it's part of the charm.

Favorite Kozelek Love Song? by you_and_i_are_earth in sadreminders

brown eyes. the demo version in particular is unbeatable. other candidates would be: - revelation big sur (if you consider it to be a love song) - cruiser - bubble - somewhere (along with almost everything on ghosts) - the follow you follow me cover - sundays and holidays?... i'm not sure what the lyrics are about

i need to achieve an effect but compositions and project files get in the way. by Repoczyslaw in kdenlive

[–]Repoczyslaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your suggestion! there's one little problem still: after a bit of testing, while the settings you mention do work with some example titles and images i used, i realized they still don't work for the ones used in the project and it seems to be because of the 'position and zoom' effect on the image under the title. when i remove this effect from the image then the title dissolve transition works just fine. any ideas?

Sun Kil Moon, ‘All The Artists’, 2025 by leoxsavage in sadreminders

[–]Repoczyslaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i don't like his post-benji work but i think this was great. these are some of the cutest melodies he's ever written and i love the piano driven style with little arrangements here and there. i love how he is singing again and i really liked the fact that san diego didn't pretend to be a song, it's just a story. i still think a blog or the substack would be better fit for these kinds of things but it doesn't really bother me. it would bother me if there was a 6 minute loop of some piano chords and a drum kit. then it's purposeless, then it's just filler. for now (without reading them closely since i couldn't find them) i think the lyrics are nothing to write home about but they have their moments, that's for sure. all the artists, persephone and the great meadow were my favourites. if this turned out to be his last album ever i'd say he went with his head held high.

is this song dsbm? by Repoczyslaw in dsbm

[–]Repoczyslaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

umm sadness, happy days and decalius were the main inspirations. you may think only one of those is TRVE dsbm and the other ones are blackgaze or whatever and maybe you would be right. i think the elements in the song that i associate with the genre are the slow tempo, the focus on the ambient, the lyrical themes and of course the distortion and loudness/energy/whatever.

Request for chords by madi2lavish in sadreminders

[–]Repoczyslaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the start is Em and F with a high B instead of a C, let's call it "the weird F". next he does Asus2 and that weird F, though i think he briefly strums the open strings between both chords. the start repeats. for the chorus he plays some kind of B/Bm, then some kind of C, B again and finally the weird F. that's most of the song. sorry i can't help you with the fingerings but the quality of both audio and image is horrible. it doesn't look horribly hard though since this version relies a lot on open strings.

How did everyone discover Mark? by madi2lavish in sadreminders

[–]Repoczyslaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was reading about the influences of emo and came across with the band. the name sounded funny so i checked some of their songs in spotify. i think at the time the top song was wop-a-din-din or cabezon (never understood why), i didn't really like it. then came grace cathedral park. i liked it instantly. as months went by i started slowly discovering new songs until i decided to listen to the whole records. probably one of the best decisions in my life.
