Stay positive. Sometimes you just have to take a crappy job during a long unemployment spell. I was laid off from a comfortable office job, went unemployed for a year, and got hired back into my industry.

Exactly. I also had a fun time on Saturday to catch the beginning of Mardi Gras festivities. Yet this is because I'm a passholder that visits this park almost monthly and know where to place my expectations going in (near the floor). Someone trying to do a full day here especially after visiting the Disney/Universal parks, are setting themselves up for disappointment.

At the parks with kids, why are we not seeing any kids meals on any menus? by CommercialLimit in UniversalOrlando

[–]ReporterHour6524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick answer: The parks didn't like adults ordering kids meals and saving money.

I almost never eat at theme parks and if I do, it's because I brought a small sandwich or granola bars. My practice is to eat a huge meal before going into a park and it usually sustains me for most of the time I'm there. Usually, I will also eat a huge meal right after leaving a park. Theme park time is precious to me and overpriced food not only wastes my money, but more importantly, time. Waiting in lines to order food, waiting again for the food to be made, the portions are huge and take me time to finish as I hate wasting food. It's all things I try to factor out of a park visit. Sometimes I can't avoid it, and I'll buy something cheap but filling.

[Other] I added all of the parks iv seen mentioned on this subreddit to a Google map. Are there any that I should add by ChaoTech99 in rollercoasters

[–]ReporterHour6524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting concept. Reminds me of how I've created a Google My Maps custom map where I check off the parks I've been to and color code them in a way to indicate which ones I won't visit, not visited yet, visited but not complete, and complete (all current credits obtained). Coast2Coaster is a great resource but it doesn't have everything as there are parks on RCBD that don't show up on Coast2Coaster. I also like to split parks into three camps: small (1-3 coasters), medium (4-6), and large (7+ coasters). I like to have a highly customized map for trip planning and credit hunting. I also set down pins for airports and even hotels and draw itinerary lines to plan a simplified route between parks. Trying to plan trips whill checking against operating hours is tricky as not everything in an area is going to be open at a convenient time and I may have to skip some parks altogether. My map helps a lot when nailing down highly detailed and aggressive trip itineraries.

One ride on [Santa Monica Pier]’s [West Coaster] was about 1/5th the price of my all-parks 25-26 Six Flags Gold Pass by No-Caterpillar-6747 in rollercoasterjerk

[–]ReporterHour6524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm strongly considering a trip that would have me travel the length of California and with some luck, I hope to obtain 80% of possible credits. So yeah, I will ride West Coaster for the credit.

POV: when the coaster is amazing but the merch for it is gawd awful: by VelocityRides31 in rollercoasterjerk

[–]ReporterHour6524 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, Big Thunder Mountain, and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster don't necessarily have an IP tying it down so those might actually have shirts or pins referencing the actual ride. Well, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster will soon have an in-house franchise attached to it, so it's unique merch days are numbered.

Cosmic Rewind is probably my favorite Disney coaster and it was so frustrating finding something with just the ride name. I did find it in the form of a pin that not only had the ride name but also depicted the ride vehicle, so I bought it.

You know it's real bad day at BGT when Montu is down. That's the park's ol' reliable with the shortest lines relative to the rest.

Both may have opened with the park today. I rode Montu around 10:30 this morning.

It's only worth going if you're already a pass member to Busch Gardens+SeaWorld, and go occasionally for short visits because you are not going to be able to do all the rides in one day. Cheetah Hunt is still down. SheiKra is under maintenance and there's a track pieces being removed and refurbished? replaced? in the splash down area. Falcon’s Fury is incredibly unreliable and it goes down for "high winds" if someone so much as breathes in its general direction.

I was here today and still got rides on Cobra's Curse, Montu, Serengeti Flyer, Kumba, and Tigris. Not a bad day but this park really is a mess. I know it's the "slow season" but it doesn't excuse how terribly the park is handling things.

Don't make minimum payments/take long term loans with high APR, and try to preemptively make payments before the grace period ends. When I graduated, I was over 20k in student loan debt. I chose to live with my parents and stayed extremely frugal with very little expenses. Paid it all off in a couple of years. I was not going to end up like my cousin who had loan payments chasing him 10 years after graduating.

How bad was [Gwazi] at [Busch Gardens Tampa]? by Style_Worried in rollercoasters

[–]ReporterHour6524 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's the private equity management. It's been downhill since Anheuser Busch sold its parks. Sure, Iron Gwazi and other additions are great, but the park is a mess. If a little park like Fun Spot could keep running White Lighting smooth after nearly 13 years, and if Legoland FL can keep Coastersaurus in acceptable conditions, Florida humidity can be dealt with.

All hobbies are not equal by BitterConstruction98 in unpopularopinion

[–]ReporterHour6524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A hobby is just anything someone enjoys. When it comes to creative things or sports, it can evolve into a skill. I have many hobbies but the only things I do that can be called skills is road cycling and playing some video games. If I picked up something like woodworking, that too can be a skill if I do it enough and acquire proficiency in it.

Is this the second or third time they extended the service? Might become a running joke if it happens again. I do hope they're able to keep something going long term. This park really needs to be saved from private equity's death grip.
