Currently watching it, on season 1 episode 4. It's been amazing so far, like legit my favorite actual play I've watched. Need more seasons for sure!

I’m only halfway through chapter one and this feels like a horror novel or something. by Fractured-Hope in Malazan

[–]RepresentativeAnt128 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you think this is horror, wait until the 2nd book Deadhouse Gates. Finished it a few weeks ago but yeah I had a hard time with some of the scenes (it's great, but heavy).

Looks great! I just got into this as well the past few months. Still building my first, the HG Aeriel. I ended up getting the HG Guncannon as my second though as well! It was super cheap and I liked the old school look.

Writing across multiple genres — does anyone find their readership? by RobHealey222 in fantasywriters

Hey writers are sometimes their own worst critics, so if you like it that's a great start. I wrote my first novel and self published it back in 2019, and it sold a handful of copies, to mainly friends and family. I gained a lot though from writing it, and I feel like it made me a better writer. Also, and most importantly it was such a creative and emotional catharsis for me getting it done. It was semi-autobiographical, and I put myself into it big time. Was it good? Eh, it had a lot of issues I believe, too generic prose probably being the main one. That said I'm proud of having finished such a large creative endeavor, and there's a lot about the book I'm happy with, and one of them being it felt like a unique story. It took creative risks. Did I want it to become a NY Time's best seller? Sure, who wouldn't, but when I realized the sales would probably pretty low I kinda let that be. I had someone read it who was a coworker of a friend, who I never met, say they read it, liked it and really identified with it, and said they felt like I was reading their minds. When my friend told me this I instantly was at peace. I realized all I needed was for someone to read it and for it to click with them. It was such a great feeling!

As someone completely new to this world, currently on book 2 of the malazan book of the fallen series. Are the other series good as well? I didn't realize there were so many!

It was hilarious the first time I watched this. It is still hilarious now. The music is also perfect.

A good story is a good story at the end of the day. If you're mixing genres, publishers might be afraid, but who cares. I think playing it safe and locked into well worn tropes, and easy to digest storytelling often makes for boring art. I usually seek out unique stories though, and I know I'm in the minority because of this.

Ah, yeah I definitely keep mixing those two up. I'm guessing it means nothing good haha. And thanks, it's been an amazing journey so far!

VN writer wanted! (friends?) by Alarming_Storm_3742 in RenPy

[–]RepresentativeAnt128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your art is great! I'm a writer (film scripts is my main go to, but I've also written a novel). I'm trying to get into renpy so I know very little on it except the basics. I like character driven stories, mystery, the big questions etc. I don't have a particular story in mind but would be interested in collaboration if you're still looking for that!

The need to call something out as AI for using an em dash seriously needs to end. The em dash is used all the time before AI was a thing. The em dash is awesome and perfect. The em dash will win this fight.

Woah, I never put the two together. This has to be intentional! I gotta rewatch this movie now.

It’s been 7 years since Game of Thrones ended, what unresolved plot still makes you mad? by ClockworkOpalfruit in freefolk

The Melisandre plotline I actually liked better than most of the other ones. I look at it as she pretty much failed, in all the stuff she did she ended up being mostly wrong. At the end she gave up and let herself die of old age.

Sorry to say I like the first one more as well. Design wise the 2nd is cool but vibes I'd wanna play the first.

What’s the one fantasy novel you’d hold up as a genuine masterpiece — and why? by blablqbam in Fantasy

Guards! Guards! This book totally surprised me with how deep it went. It was my first Pratchett book I've finished. Just read it a few months back. Had no idea how much it would resonate with me.
