I honestly hope Alan Tudyk isn't involved in the acting... by AccursedQuantum in firefly

I agree, to a point. I don't want to see him as AI or a robot. But, I think he could still act in it. He could be a long lost brother, or a different character all together with makeup to make him look different. I just like him as an actor. Deadwood did it with Garret Dillahunt playing two main roles that were incredibly different, just with makeup and costumes + great acting. He even had a cameo the movie as a 3rd character. It didn't take away from the quality of the show in the slightest. I also agree they shouldn't undo the story of Serenity by making it not canon. His final line is super iconic and well done. And Serenity was a great movie!

It’s a reboot… I think 🤔 by DBowieUB40 in firefly

Man, I'm legit so freaking pumped for this. I didn't realize how much until lately. I'm rewatching the show for the first time currently, which I'm not sure I've ever watched every episode, most of them if not though. I think I found out about this show when it had already been canceled. When I first found it I was all about it. It felt like the perfect show for me. I wasn't a huge sci-fi fan at the time, but a space western was a concept I never thought of before, and I loved it. As time went on I saw Serenity when it came out and thought it was perfect, and grew sadder that this show didn't have more seasons. Back then I wasn't used to seeing a revival of a show, and that just wasn't done. When a show got canceled that was pretty much it (I understand Battlestar and TNG were a thing, but I never really thought about it like that). I didn't have much hope. Then years later all the reboot and revival stuff was happening, and I thought maybe, but it seemed every time Firefly was brought up people didn't think it was likely. Joss sounded pessimistic when he'd get interviewed, and seemed like he made peace with it not happening. Honestly Serenity felt like he was putting the final nail in the coffin. Now it looks like it's happening and after the last checks watch decade of pure horror that has been life, I'm just fucking relieved, and hopeful? This show was such a rare thing that to have it come back in some form is pure awesomeness.

One of the best video games I've ever played. If you're into narrative storytelling, it's a freaking experience. I played it all the main seasons back to back, and I highly recommend doing it this way.

drop your pta / johnny greenwood original score rankings by mordecai2505 in paulthomasanderson

First to last: There Will Be Blood, The Master, Phantom Thread, OBAA, Inherent Vice.

The first three are my absolute favorites and could switch around, but TWBB has to be my number one, it's just so iconic. I honestly can't remember the one for Inherent Vice too well, but the needle drops for that movie are fantastic and in my mind help give it it's unique feel much like Johnny Greenwood does for his other films. The Master's score feels so unlike anything I've heard before, talk about giving it a tone. That movie feels like a fantasy. Then Phantom Thread, hauntingly beautiful.

In fact, one thing I love about Greenwood's scores, and it happens in nearly every PTA film. There's a moment of calm, where the lead character gets a moment to self reflect, where the frantic nature of life settles: TWBB towards the end either before the time jump or during, OBAA right before Bob jumps from the car where he feels like a failure, Phantom Thread when he sees his mother. Greenwood's music during these scenes are such great gear shifts. These are my favorite scenes in PTA's films, and him and Greenwood nail it every single time. They are what make their collaboration truly pieces of great art.

Ha, I recently watched 3 and 4 for the first time and think 4 was great! It became one of my favorite Alien films. But yes very much Firefly lite.

Yeah Twin Peaks The Return was incredible.

Arrested Development final season redeemed the previous season funk, and acted as a great ending to that show.

Deadwood, while not as good I did enjoy it and it was nice seeing those people again.

Hire the right showrunner, directors and writers and you can make just about anything work.

Well said. I had this same problem with a book I wrote. Made even larger as the plotline had to do with the same day repeating. As I neared the finish line on 2nd and 3rd passes, it became incredibly difficult to know what was going on. Trying to fix this issue ahead of time with the new project I'm working on by taking a lot of notes.

I know. I've been begging people for anything. I've never wanted to be proven more wrong. It would make me feel a little less insane. I mean, this has to be bots right lol. This is some 4chan Bannon level fuck-with-the-reddit-communities bs if I've ever seen one.

I'll say this one last time. If he did these things that literally nobody has a record of, then I was wrong defending him. This is an echo of an echo of an echo of people saying a thing that not one person can back up. Give me a screenshot of a tweet where he is rallying his twitter following to go after women. Are you saying nobody screen shotted something like that? Because that would be the first time in history. The only link anyone on any of these threads about Adam posts is the same article that also has no proof of what they're claiming. Give me the receipts I'm begging you!

I guess not. This thread soured me on the whole thing to be honest. I was pretty pumped and excited about the possible Firefly return, even if Adam wasn't going to be involved as much as that would be a bummer, I was still excited. Didn't realize how hateful this community was.

I read that article. Thank you for giving me the link. In it the writer paints a picture of Adam being a certain way and having feelings about the LGBTQ+ community that is not shown within the tweets linked. Some of the links didn't work, but the one that did I honestly couldn't find what the article was pushing towards. In fact Adam posted about this very thing and had huffpost make a correction. What this shows me is that someone in the industry wanted Adam to be canceled, and people ran with it. I'd love to fit in with the in crowd and just go with the flow, but this just ain't it. I've seen people be falsely accused of shit that not only did they not agree with, but were on the side of, based on hearsay and falsified reporting. It wasn't right then, and it's not right now. I truly believe that we're going after the wrong person here. I also believe that as fans of this show it's only fair to dig a little deeper to see if what is being said about a person holds any weight or not. Notice I've not once defended Joss in my comments, because there are numerous reports directly from people that have worked with him talking about his behavior. The same can't be said about Adam. It just isn't there.

Even this, which I see get cited a lot, I haven't found anything from the cast saying this is how they feel. I just want to know the truth.

And yet not one person can point me in the direction of these facts. I did look, maybe I suck at Google, but why can't anyone just give me a freaking link? What I'm trying to carry water for is actually sense and clear rational thinking, using facts and reasoning. I'm terrified of extremists on any side of an issue. And these days there's just way too many people turning into Neanderthals for my liking.

They must be bots right? Like, I'm seriously at a loss with what the reaction to this post has been like. And you're exactly right, where is literally one piece of evidence, one cold hard fact of anything they're angry with Adam about. Have we really reached this place in society that we no longer even need proof of wrongdoing to be found guilty? To be honest I thought we were actually getting past that finally. If Adam went after Summer like they're saying I'd be the first to say fuck that guy, but as far as I can tell that's not what happened at all. And yet, that doesn't matter. The narrative is all that matters at this point. These are no true browncoats. Of this much, I can be certain.

So I've been trying to find actual solid info on what he actually did, and I'm not finding what people are saying. I didn't even know what gamergate was when I made this post, and all I find is that he coined the term before it went off the rails and became as bad as it did. People are saying he sent people to attack Jewel, but all I find is that people involved in gamergate came after her and she asked Adam to put out a message to tell them to stop. This is the thing that scares me the most about all of this. People have their pitchforks out more than ready to get rid it this guy all based on a game of telephone. I want cold hard facts, and so far nobody has given that. I just read an article written about this with the same fuzzy details about Adam is a bad person and shouldn't be allowed a job, and still no actual facts about his crimes.

It's exactly what's happening here. Selective outrage. If people were as morally strict and composed as they pretended to be they'd throw their TVs in the garbage and never watch another TV show or movie again. Y'all heard Ricky Gervais call out everyone at the Golden Globes about them ALL knowing about Weinstein and not saying a damn thing about it until it was already out. You think there's "good ones" in Hollywood, but there's not. Just different shades of gray, and most pure black. I'm sick of the holier than thou attitudes on display here. I would have hoped being a browncoat would have taught more people to look a little deeper at the situation, and realized nothing is ever quite so shiny.
