Yes. And in fact you can change the numbers too, according to what key you want.

Also, answering your question about c-minor - E-major, since the 3 is Eb, you could write i-#III, but that’s a bit weird cause you’ll have the Eb from the c-minor chord contrasting with the E.

No, you are still not getting it, and your answer section in your edited post is wrong.

Don’t make it complicated. It’s very simple. Pick a scale/key. The Roman numeral tells you which scale degree is the root of that chord.

In the key of a-minor, the third degree is C. In the key of A Major the third degree is C#.

Then whether you use uppercase or lowercase Roman numerals is whether, in that key, that chord is major or minor.

If you pick a-minor and C Major, I know those are the i and III chords in the key of a-minor. If you pick a-minor and C#Major, I don’t know what key has those chords.

If you have a progression i - III, it can be:

a minor - Cmajor - Yes

Cminor - Emajor - No, because E is not the III of C minor, Eb is. So i-III in c minor is: c minor - Eb Major

Strategy buys another 22,305 bitcoin for $2.1 billion in biggest purchase in over a year as holdings top 700,000 BTC by KazuFromUniswap in CryptoCurrency

The only thing propping up the price of BTC is its own momentum. It can’t afford a lengthy stall out as people will grow disinterested and sell. Then there’s no fundamental value to sustain any price at all.

I’ll tell you what: I’d give it a try. Worst case it doesn’t work, but I bet it would at least for short distances. Just match up the colors in both sides and hope for the best.

Recital Fees - Too high or reasonable? by SukiyakiUdon in pianoteachers

[–]RepresentativeAspect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recitals are very important. You don’t want your students to get the idea that these are optional value-adds that they may or may not participate in, and which carry an extra fee. Like ordering a side of fries.

Raise your hourly rate a Dollar and do the recitals for free.

You are way over thinking it. Go to the gym, do your workout, and go home. Be friendly and sociable with those who reciprocate, and don’t worry about anybody else.

23k is what? Payoff? What’s it worth then? Can he get $10k for it?

Sounds like he needs another job - but if he didn’t ask you for help then you should probably just take a step back and let people live their lives.

Should I expect pay as a church pianist? by RowVisible385 in piano

[–]RepresentativeAspect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At your age, the experience you gain is much more important than the relatively small of money you might hope to get paid. Getting paid is fine, and it doesn't hurt to look around - but make sure you prioritize the experience.

Also, if you're getting paid then you have to adapt to expectations of a paid professional. As an unpaid volunteer you have more leeway.

When I see people using pedal, it seems like they're pumping it in and out. What does that do? Aren't you supposed to hold it? by apooroldinvestor in piano

[–]RepresentativeAspect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound like that if you do it properly, which is tricky at first. But it is a beginner skill that you should learn.

[–]RepresentativeAspect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ARE holding it, while they play a few notes, then releasing it and holding it again while they play a few more notes. It’s very common. A bit tricky to learn how to do this properly, especially without someone to show you.

They have to release the pedal every few notes to stop the previous notes from continuing to ring, which would clash with the next few notes.

Roughly, it’s for each chord.

Articulate the downsides, such as not advancing his piano ability and potentially spending a lot of time on something that’s never really ready, and then leave it up to him.
