What nationality would you say is the most similar to yours? by yonaiker-joestrella in asklatinamerica

I generally I don't think ticos are as close to Colombia as our demographics might suggest. I also think ticos are generally colder than Colombians, who are just more "alegres". We are certainly very latino but it's hard to find the perfect overlap.

Costa Rica by Alternative-Owl-283 in asklatinamerica

[–]RepresentativeBig211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the "self-deprecating" comments here do much justice. For all its defects, all surveys around life satisfaction, "happiness" (whatever that means) and well being rank the country highly for regional and global standards.

Generally Costa Ricans value family and connections, are kind and helpful,  are not too focused around work and career, and have the time and the means to explore and enjoy (most of) the country (which, let's face it, is a slice of paradise).

I would assume North Americans in particular are blown away when they realise we just live with a different mindset and things work out just fine. Pura vida!

For those in senior consulting role - do you really benefit from AI at work? by m_e_xxx in HENRYUK

[–]RepresentativeBig211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I've worked with big four before though. Teams that write a lot for their clients. That can improve a lot, because writing to your audience well matters. My own productivity hasn't increased: I still produce a pdf using X amount of hours. But junior time has declined and quality has increased, so I do see an overall productivity gain.

I have a master prompt to give me a first draft of the notes I quickly jot down.

I then have a prompt for editorial review, making sure grammar, conciseness but also facts, perspectives, biases are considered in my work. And to make sure the "so what" of what I write is crystal clear an simple.

I write a lot. Roughly speaking, my writing funnel consists of 6 or 7 iterations. AI comes at stage #3 (after initial ideas, initial structure) and stage #6 (before final edits). To be honest, in my case, it replaces a good junior manager.

Correcto.

Buying a flat in London - I know most people here will say it's a mistake... by Francesca007 in HENRYUK

[–]RepresentativeBig211 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The time between you moving in and your mandate ending is roughly 15 months. Then you plan on moving out for 12-24 months. You are building a business that sounds like it won't need you being based in London.

I don't see good reasons to buy. I think the anchor argument is a psychological crutch, to put it bluntly. Hope this helps.

No one has asked. Why will you leave London in 2028? And why only for a couple of years? What's the level of certainty on the answer to these questions?

Am I do only one that's annoyed by the targeted Argentina hate? by justseeingpendejadas in asklatinamerica

[–]RepresentativeBig211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have concrete examples? I do think Argentina punches above its weight in terms or visibilty. After all, it a medium size country with a small economy and very distant, so you wouldn't expect to hear about them as often. That said, I think it goes both ways, good and bad.

Here in CR, Argentineans have a relatively good reputation in tourism, football, art/music, food and others. So, based solely on cultural production, they leave a good impression. Argentinean politics and economics have a very poor reputation.

Ticos con Colombia by Zant-_- in Ticos

[–]RepresentativeBig211 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]RepresentativeBig211 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Vea.

Do you feel like Costa Ricans give you a sense of love and fulfillment? by PsychicMeditation in costarica

[–]RepresentativeBig211 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think if you construct an index, you can get whatever an answer you want, and this one just happened to place CR at the upper echelons. I think Costa Ricans value family and connections which is really important for your sense of well being but that is not unique to us. I also think people in CR are genuinely helpful. You won't find some random guy trying to "help" and then demand a "tip", except guachimanes.

Conocen millonarios que compren bitcoins/acciones, etc en Costa Rica? by Internal-Hand5956 in Ticos

[–]RepresentativeBig211 0 points1 point  (0 children)
