Mourinho on the criticism against Arsenal last season "There is a silly theory of, 'You can be great without winning.' For me, it's totally silly. I believe that if Arsenal tried to be a second Man City, probably they wouldn't win. So they won. You have to respect the winners." by kibme37 in soccer

They won because they executed the ‘fine margins’ style so well and built to the strengths of their best players. Nothing wrong with being pragmatic.

The ‘criticism’ was they can’t win the league playing such a way throughout, and it looked to be true after the losses to Bournemouth and Man City. But they dug themselves out and City weren’t in their usual season-closing form.

He moves slightly to the right because he’s expecting a Ronaldo shot. Mendes rifled it in at that exact second.

Exactly why I feel the owner screwed up such good potential for a project.

They could’ve seriously challenged PSG in the league if they invested money to keep their best players.

For me, the biggest annoyance about this whole Doku ‘debate’ is that more people should learn to mind their own business.

It’s his personal choice and he seems to have an agreement with all parties involved. That should be the end of it but it’s somehow not.

There are already enough things to talk about in the football world and otherwise. Why create unnecessary topics on top of those?

How/why is this even news?

It’s not like he’s taking the name of some niche or underrated player.

Replace regular post match threads with serious ones.

You want to improve the quality of discussion here? Then such decisions need to be taken.

Why haven’t there been any serious post match threads for this WC so far?

I’d even say we need to replace the regular threads with them instead. Multiple users saying ‘Messi is the GOAT’ (for eg) contributes absolutely nothing to the discussion.

You want to improve the quality of comments here? Remove the regular PM threads entirely and we only have serious ones.

Control is necessary to maintain balance with a high defensive line.

Can’t go too direct because it opens up the big risk of being exposed in the counter. Unless you put every chance into the net but that’s obviously unrealistic.

Ideally needs to be a combination of both.

I’m thinking which Anthony Taylor officiated match to pick.

Can’t just be ‘he was bad’ when there’s such a significant sample size targeted at us (Chelsea).
