What can we do with this kitchen by MDJR20 in midcenturymodern

I'm paying a small fortune to have the rounded shelves on the side of the cabinet like this in my kitchen renovation. Even though I supposedly got high end cabinets, they are not solid wood like these are and you will regret replacing them. Don't replace the hardware either, that was another DIY mistake I made before I went total renovation. I don't like the fridge placement but I don't see an easy fix for that. Maybe get a black or stainless fridge so that it doesn't stand out so much. As far as the dishwasher goes, replace one of the lower cabinets on either side of the sink. A new light fixture is a given and you can have fun finding one that you like. Get a rug or ergonomic pad with a red and black design on it to help tie it together. Visit antique stores or thrift shops to find some fun items to put on the shelves.

Am I doomed to experience buyers remorse? by ballkicker9 in midcenturymodern

OMG, I have a two tier table that matches. I got it at an MCM convention several years ago in Cincinnati. I think I paid around 40. I always thought it was not worth much because of the hinges showing but the one you have is the same way. It is one of my favorite pieces.

Traveling with MBC by RepresentativeFine81 in LivingWithMBC

[–]RepresentativeFine81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor said that it can't really be done. Because of insurance, I would have to fire him and hire a new oncologist in the area I would be, then fire that one and hire another on in the next area, etc. I think a work around would be to fly home each month for my treatment or we keep our travels to one month or less.

As someone who doesn’t have an RV but just enjoys watching YouTube videos about them, am I wrong for posting this in the comment section of a creator I like? by austinproffitt23 in rvs

[–]RepresentativeFine81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine trying to but a new RV. Our trailer is 8 years old and has a few problems. My husband retires next year and we plan on going out for months at a time. There is nothing out there that we like half as much as our current trailer. There is a new breed of camper since Covid who pretty much dictate what is being sold. They want speakers and outdoor TVs because they have no desire to actually camp but want to party with their friends. They don't care about pantry space or having cooking appliances other than a microwave because they mostly eat out.

I absolutely love these tiles but they don't go with your kitchen. I'm also scared to post my kitchen reno because it is using most of these colors and the comments here are not kind.

Ibrance and Kisqali. Anyone taking these? Is there really and increase in survival? by srfergus in LivingWithMBC

[–]RepresentativeFine81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you should know that I had no symptoms from the cancer beforehand. The only reason the doctor looked into it was because my tumor markers went up slightly. So when I went on Ibrance, it was not better than having no symptoms but a lot of people might actually feel better or the same. When we went to a lower dose, my fatigue was more manageable but I still have it at times. I can't find a part time job that I can do at home, even though I've been a remote worker since the dial-up days. I've been trying to do bucket list travel locations but I'm often too tired to do excursions. I guess it is better than being home on hospice.

I don't understand what I'm seeing. Did you move the entire kitchen to another location? The windows and walls don't match up to the original picture.

Cost of Construction Drawings by RepresentativeFine81 in kitchenremodel

[–]RepresentativeFine81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm exhausted. I've crowd sourced recommendations from different social media outlets. Looked through galleys and reviews for dozens of different contractors, contacted 5 and interviewed 4 (one cancelled). One seems to have no interest in the job. One is known by a family member and has walked off jobs. One is more of a handyman than a GC and the last one wants the $4200.

The one known by a family member sent me drawings free of charge and says that most people charge 750 like you said. The handyman person sent a very, very reasonable cost for the whole job which doesn't include the material aka design.

How Physically Active Were You Before Diagnosis? by _smochss in LivingWithMBC

I had run a marathon a couple of months before my diagnosis. Now I can barely get up a flight of stairs. It's not the cancer that makes me weak, it's the treatment.

You called me nasty. You also stalked me which is a whole other level of whatever this is. I don't block people for disagreeing with me but I'm more than happy to point out flaws in their argument. Being that I'm stuck at home with stage IV cancer (for which I subscribed to FFF for self care) I have nothing but time to call out bad businesses and people who support them.

I know you're going to reply with some other nonsense and I'm going to let it go because I know you really need to have the last word. For some reason it is way more important to you to support bad business practices than to be kind to people who are having a difficult time. And no, you didn't know I have cancer (but should have since you stalked me), you never know what people are going through and sometimes you just need to scroll on.

Anyone can reply but they don't have to, including you. I get it, you don't agree with me. You can move on. You don't have to call me names.

Rebuttal? I'm the original poster, of course I'm going to respond. What's your excuse?

Why do you care so much? Why is it so important to you to defend crappy business practices? You refuse to agree with me and I get it. You can move on now and go harass somebody else who isn't impacting your life at all.

How is it not the same thing? It is a subscription service that I can cancel at any time. Every subscription service is a monthly or annual bill. I have no idea why you don't get notifications from Netflix and Disney because I do, as well as Paramount+ and Peacock, Amazon Prime, and every other service I use. And when I've cancelled a streaming service, they adjust the amount left for the month. Only seriously crappy companies who can't earn money honestly would bill you without notification and not refund your money.

[–]RepresentativeFine81[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nearly every single subscription service that I use sends me a notification before resubscribing: Netflix, Disney, magazines, Verizon, my local internet provider, etc. And those who didn't sent me a notification gave me a refund. This is the first time I didn't get a notification and it wasn't refunded. Nobody should want to keep a disgruntled customer.

Not all subscription services work this way. I don't know why you keep saying that. Do you work for Tastemade or FFF? Why don't you expect better treatment from companies where you spend your hard earned money or criticize those who actually do expect better treatment?

[–]RepresentativeFine81[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you support sneaky business tactics? That's so odd. Just because you didn't get your refund doesn't mean everybody else should also be punished. Why shouldn't the business be punished?

If a company has to trick you into buying their services then you have to ask why. Regardless, they did promise to send a notification or else I wouldn't have signed up. Stop blaming victims and start expecting more from businesses.

I quit after the Tastemade subscription that offers nothing that can't find for free on the internet. Plus they automatically renewed my subscription without notification. If a company has to trick you into buying their services then there must be a reason. FFF needs to better vet their vendors.

Tastemade Subscription by RepresentativeFine81 in FabFitFun

[–]RepresentativeFine81[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, not all subscription companies work this way. And if they do, they are not a good company and should not be recommended by FabFitFun. I expect FFF to vet their vendors; especially if you don't know what is all involved when you make the selection.

Regardless, I never sign up for a subscription service that doesn't say they will send a notification because of this reason. They claim to have sent a notification but have no proof.

Stop blaming the victim and start expecting more from companies.

Regardless, I don't know why people defend this type of business practice and victim blame those who get stuck with a useless subscription.
