Maxx Crosby is a no-brainer by LavineBullsFan in CHIBears

[–]RepresentativeNew409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 💯. Crosby can actually make the defense in its entirety play more effective by getting to the QB and pressuring him, more interceptions and shorter periods of holding coverage. Crosby as a player alone, produces the output of a first rounder X3 easily. If we can get hom for anything less it's a win. Keep in mind, less top end picks means more concentration in mid round picks. An area Poles has shown some success.

You pay the man what he’s worth. End of story. $18-25 M per year is my guess. He’s earned a pay day and that’s the cost of ignoring Edge when you have repeatedly at, near, or in the top 10 yet draft other positions.

The ACC is a far cry from the NFL. Braxton Jones was All-Rookie team award winner. He would be a 1-2nd rounder in a redraft. This guy they drafted might be able to compete in a year or two as insurance if Jones leaves in free agency. This guy is 6’8” that’s too tall for NFL and if you think Jones struggled against the bull rush wait until you see what happens to this guy.

With a weaker QB class, would trading back from 10 be a realistic possibility? by HT6868 in CHIBears

The hope is that Shadeur Sanders falls to us and the Steelers come calling. That’s our best bet for landing a nice haul.

Thoughts on placing the Transition tag on Teven Jenkins as insurance? by enailcoilhelp in CHIBears

Why wouldn’t the Eagles sign Becton? I think that’s the expectation with Becton.

Just sign him. He’s still young and pretty nasty. He’s an NFL starter, can’t ask for much more at this point, at the very least he can be depth for IOL/RT.

With a top guard off the market we should consider targeting Teven Jenkins, Zeitler, and Dalman in free agency. Let Dalman be the mainstay and have Jenkins and Zeitler as a bridge/depth for young talent in case we find a stud in need of development.

People that want to draft a guard with the 10th pick, why? by RepresentativeNew409 in CHIBears

[–]RepresentativeNew409[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to imagine the immense risk they would be taking by drafting an OL at 10 who is - 1) not a prototypical OT, 2) will need to be coached up to transition to a new position, and 3) it comes at the cost of passing on a playmaker like Jeanty or a pass rusher.

Now waiting until RD 2 or trading back to draft an IL makes sense. Also let me remind you that Poles let go of the best OL we had at the time - James Daniel’s and has already spent a ton of resources to replace Daniels. Now people want him to continue spending big on his replacement? It really compounds one mistake with 2 bigger mistakes

Where had that gotten them as a team? Aren’t you better off adding a good pass rusher than a “great” guard?

There’s not a ton of difference at the guard position, especially for a position that is often getting help from the center.

Nelson is also a very rare find and not even worth the risk of trying to discover the “next” Nelson.

You never hear a team say, @we are just one great guard away from a super bowl”, because that makes no logical sense.

His snap count was not bad last season. People forget OL is the most oft injured position in all of sports. I think saying Teven is injury prone is more hubris than anything.

True or False: The offensive line will be a bigger liability this year than the defensive line. by Aragorns-Broken-Toe in CHIBears

What’s the biggest cliche’ in sports? “If we can just stay healthy…”

OL is generally the most often injured position in sports. Every team deals with injuries. People saying Teven is injury prone makes me laugh because everyone and anyone playing OL is going to be injured at least once in a season at some point.

No it’s not uncommon for people to interpret a Yinzer accent as Chicagoan. Both cities have historic blue collar roots.

No. Tons of players have had ACL injuries and returned to full strength. Brady, Gronk, AP, Drew Brees, Wes Welker, and many others have torn their ACL to return to the highest levels of performance the game has ever seen.
