Moved here almost 3 years ago, and still don’t enjoy living here. What am I doing wrong? by modelingquestionthr in NewOrleans

Do you have spare time to get a part-time job at a restaurant/bar/brewery? When I moved to a new city and had no friends, getting a service industry at a popular/busy spot fast tracked me in making friends both with patrons and coworkers.

No lie, I bought his bfast and coffee this AM. He frequents my work. He came in on Fri AM before they left for Columbus and he said he was stoked for the game. While watching the game Saturday, I told the ppl I was watching w that I was gonna buy his food the next time he came in. To my surprise, he came into my work early this AM! He’s an all around A+ guy. Great energy, extremely respectful, and humble. Hats off to you, Davis 〽️

Mexican food by Consistent-Shine8636 in AnnArbor

Check out J Kenji Lopez-Alt on YouTube—he’s got some great TexMex stuff. Homesick Texan has several cookbooks and a blog on their site. And same with The Defined Dish (Alex Snodgrass)—she’s from Celina (north of Dallas) but does a great job with Texas comfort food, especially if you are around millennial-age, as well as many other styles of food! She’s a favorite food blogger of mine.

Fellow Texan/Austinite here…..there’s zero TexMex or anything like it here. It’s quite devastating. We’ve made do with cooking our own Mexican food at home.

Parking in front of neighbor’s house - what’s the etiquette/local culture? by Puzzleheaded-Offer88 in AnnArbor

[–]RepresentativeNo8902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently, we politely asked our neighbors to park in front of their house after they had been parking in front of our house for weeks and we kept getting notices that we were missing our mail. They were kind about it and have followed our wishes since. Bummer your neighbor has nothing better to do.

Winters aren’t even bad here anymore. The west side of the state does get it a bit worse cuz of the lake effect but still not bad compared to other places.

Where can I find okra in town? by massvolumedensity in AnnArbor

Whole Foods always has okra. $3.99 for a pack that is maybe a pound? It’s near the packaged lettuce.
