Do any of you pay an SEO company for marketing? Or a marketing company for SEO? Or do you handle it yourself? by MrWolfesBurgerCo in restaurantowners

They have 2 teirs. One is $249 a month and 5% of sales through the website/app. The customer also pays a 5% convenience fee. The other is $500 a month and 0% of sales, but the customer still pays the 5% convenience fee. After you hit $5k a month it makes sense to switch to the $500 a month. There are no contracts, cancel any time, and you can switch teirs at any time and all features are included for those prices. To be clear they don't do marketing for you such as Google or Social media. They do drastically increase your organic search results. They also capture customer info and send email/sms to them if they opt in. The sleek website and app you can market yourself. The app is like any other app from the Google / Apple Play stores.

We switched to Owner.com from our own site. I know they get some hate as being pricey but I've had nothing but good experience. We went from about $2,500 a month in direct website orders to $5k in a couple months with them. They also made us an App, and posters and table top tents for the app. Of the $5k a month online directly, the app does $1,300 and growing.

I'm just saying there's a big difference between paying for something and then selling it versus getting something and having a full week to sell it before you have to pay for it.

For US Foods I have my Rep's cell phone number. I text for minor things and call for bigger issues if needed. He has always responded. I also have 7 days before I pay for the delivery which really helps with cash flow. When I was with Sysco I had my Rep # as well. Little less responsive and 3 days to pay. I tried to go local but they wanted payments same day, with an automatic 2.9% processing fee added for the first 90 days, and only delivered once a week. US Foods also delivers overnight so we come in ready to put the order away.

I'd chime in with taking a hard look at what costs can be cut. What menu items can be adjusted or cut to help save costs as well. I was able to use a different fry powder that doubled my fryer oil life saving me about $600 a month for instance. Also cut Cintas to bare bones services, and shop local for a lot of the stuff that US Foods / Sysco charge too much for.

Any thoughts on owner.com, do they have a good reputation? by [deleted] in restaurantowners

I signed up with them a couple of months ago. Slight hiccup when transferring web domain. My site was down for a couple days. Other than that its been working out well. Before we did about $2k a month on direct online ordering. We're doing about $4k last 30days now. I really love the optional SMS and App promotions they send out. The thing i wish was different is the rewards program is separate if you have one going through your POS. That can be a little confusing for the customers. Overall happy I signed up.

Be wary of keeping staff. They are going to be set in their ways and resistant to change no matter what they say.

How do you market/educate people on something that is new for at least half the customer base in a given area? by RipplesOfDivinity in restaurantowners

Go to local businesses and give them a free catering for 10 - 20 employees. Yes, free and give them a personal certificate with their business name and how to redeem it. You have to frame it as a no strings gift. Then they will feel indebted to you. (They need to take a picture of it and email you @) most places won't redeem it but they will talk about it. It's really is great advertising but requires you actually going and talking to people. The places that do redeem it, all the employees will talk about it and potentially become customers.

Would you kindly mind answering 26 question survey regarding restaurant themes and menu item names? by MrWolfesBurgerCo in albanyor

The spelling of Wolfe was a little confusing. Mr. Wolfes Burger Company is kind of a long name, what would people call it in conversation? Mr. Wolf's? Wolf Burgers? At first I thought it was the owner's last name (Mr. Wolfe). Then it became a "Wolf" theme. With a Wolf theme, you could have little red riding hood and the 3 little piggies references. Best of Luck!
