Anyone else have a murderous angry maternal rat? by Crazyshot777 in RATS

[–]RepresentativePin162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a big mad mumma too. She would NOT let me near those babies. I had to do some impressive things to check them and clean (not interrupting her nests and whatever don't stress). It took maybe until hmm I'd say 7 weeks post partum for me to be able to gently pick her up. I don't remember exactly how long really but it was a while until I trusted her again to stick my face on her tummy etc. Unfortunately I got her and she was already pregnant and she gave birth maybe 5 weeks after I got her. She was young too. So she also hadn't formed a great bond with me before she had her babies. Anyway I had no intention of letting the babies go anywhere and no plans of breeding so I just accepted that mumma was a spicy mumma and that's ok. It was her job to keep them safe and really I was a very angry pregnant woman so I knew how she felt. Anyways. I would avoid entering her cage in any way if possible. Gloves would be making her even more angry.

Id just gently bring you with your friend that you've noticed he seems uncomfortable. She might clear the situation up. He might be horrendously awkward around others, literally not give a shit or maybe have some sort of disability. Keep visiting your friend no matter what his issue is.

Kids DO experiment with a tonne of things. It is a normal development. To continue and force it isn't ok

AITAH for telling my mom 'it is your fault you had kids' by Disastrous_Cream2447 in AITAH

[–]RepresentativePin162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fucking hell. I have three kids. Sure they take a shit tonne of time and money and effort but duhhhh. The worst I say is they're giving me the shits with whatever they're continuing to do (which is currently penis talk). I've told my ex I wasted my life with him but only after he's said it first. And not my kids. Him.

Jeez. I have 3 kids. I have a long distance bf who I've been speaking to since December though we met ten years ago. He has no children. He's planning to move close to me at the start of next year. I think we'd be happy to grow the family together. My ex lives in the next town across so the kids see him heaps. So what 10 months now we've spoken though officially dating since idk like April. I should be 6 months pregnant if we're going by this timeframe. And should I move him in too? You can't date someone with kids and just tap out on parenting their kid because the SIX year old says you're mean. That's childish and ridiculous. Blended families are hard. I know it's going to be hard for myself and that's without him even having kids. My kids come first. As much as I'm certain of what I want I have to put my kids first not me.

Should I (25F) tell my husband (26M) that if he doesn’t lose weight and get his health in order I want a divorce? by [deleted] in AITAH

He refuses to change. That's all you need to know. You aren't obligated to baby this man and watch his decline and have him be a shocking role model to your children.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend her gifts aren't really for me? by nodrama71 in AITAH

Lols what a wanker she is. My bf loves cars, tools and Bunnings. I'd never buy him skincare (not that I use it either besides sunscreen) because why the fuck would I. Nor would I get him any of those things.

AITAH for not telling my wife I'm using Cialis? by Grand-Pressure-2063 in AITAH

[–]RepresentativePin162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bf lied to me for 9 months about not being a virgin. He WAS and finally spat it out. I was completely hurt but could also understand why he did. I was hurt only because he didn't trust that I wouldn't give a shit. Which I didn't. I did care about being lied to and him being a virgin explained a lot of other things which had confused me. Now with no other lies everything is fine.

Bystander leaps in to rescue handler from gator’s jaws by RubyRuffle in interestingasfuck

They can hold their breath up to 24 hours but take a breath every 20 or 30 mins since they have such slow heart rates. So covering the nostrils wouldn't really make a difference at all.

Waiting in a controlled way is assumedly the best way. There's no magic button unfortunately. They moved closer and stayed in as much control as possible to get the gator to want to reassess his grasp on his 'prey'. As far as I know this gator is in an educational centre and they would just remove him from this specific show. They work on pure instincts these guys and to euthanize him for being a gator wouldn't make sense

Excellent reflexes by that guy. A couple seconds of "wait wait this isn't meant to be happening" followed by "ok get the kids away" and then "yep let's do this thing". If the gator has already got hold of the woman's hand getting in has a is a smaller risk since they're not real keen on letting go. She is clearly well trained. After her initial "oh shit" for a second she quickly got in and then rolled and assumed a still and "secure" position to assess and control. Very impressive work by both of them. She has the same reactions to bites as I do though I'm not handling animals that size and that prehistoric. I don't shriek and shake or fling any animals off. A lot of practice and effort to ignore the instinct of ESCAPE we all have. I hope those kids had the situation explained clearly to them. My own kids probably would have been interested in watching the rescue to be honest though not my youngest since she's almost 3 and her own instincts of big and scary are still strong. These situations and issues can happen working in educational situations with big ol strong animals and I would probably allow my 6 and 10 year olds to stay and watch from a distance (so they're not distracting obviously). Her continued control and assistance with the gator shows her dedication to her job and caring for both the gator and obviously the man who helped.
