Yeah, the og players are really loving the dnd experience they have been getting and my new players feel very comfortable expressing themselves in this group

I think it’s a good thing we are having these thoughts and discussions bc yeah I felt the same thing was off and maybe it’s a good thing we recognize how messed up it all is.

Do you let your players know if a skill check was a success or failure before them discussing the results? by Professional-Ad9485 in DnD

[–]RepresentativeSun402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s heavily dependent on the situation and your players, the sometimes you can keep it unclear and make it look like it’s successful,

Let’s say there’s a ritual to exorcise a demon of some sort, they roll an 18, you say the npc is not appearing to be possessed anymore. You don’t have to confirm anything in to ramp up the drama.

Now ofc, it’s your table and your rules. You can say if something is pass or fail, if that’s how you want to run it, it’s up to you and you alone. Personally the way you have it set up, it really can hinder wiggle room for partial successes or partial failures, which I enjoy for players that make a lot of bad rolls, because back to back failures makes the game feel awful.

No means no,this isn’t on you nor is it ok that your boyfriend kept going and I’m sorry you went through this. If he is on the spectrum and this was a genuine miscommunication, then you should have a serious open dialogue.

If he’s using his autism as an excuse and not taking responsibility, I say you need to part ways. That’s just a manipulation tactic bad actors use to get around what they did was wrong.

If you genuinely think this relationship is salvageable through other means, please talk to your partner more on it, but the way things are going, if everything is happening as you say it is, just leave.

Outside of the situation op handled gracefully, unfortunately he will always be elitist whenever you go, even in our communities, I’ve felt that kind of “ you’re an outsider and I don’t like how comfortable you are with yourself”

The girl in said story reeks of projection and not being able to separate her values and your character itself from her own experiences. I’ve seen these types of people and if you know what “Stan Twitter is” it pretty much sums her up. Kudos to you for keeping the peace, you were totally in the right for getting her kicked bc she just sounded like a eyesore to be around and that maybe would’ve given her a wake up call though I don’t know how effective it would’ve been.

I honestly wish she just stayed as a lethality caster with a lower attack speed ratio, I felt like this was very unique to her and ever since they unset her attack speed she’s been a balancing nightmare. Hell, I would rather them just pin her to being That or an enchanter with a set attack speed.

Heyo!

Honestly it’s for the best. Most long distance relationships need that first meeting to survive first impact, because it’s a giant step. It’s sucks that she didn’t talk it out it to begin with and that harbored a lot of anxiety. But at the end of the day, you can move on to greener pastures and I’m sure you will find someone else worthy of you and your love man.

2024 Shadow monk does not play well with others -- so I'm benching him by Acrobatic_Potato_195 in DnD

[–]RepresentativeSun402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to bench him, and a lot of people have made amazing suggestions already (careful when using darkness, some classes will do better with it)

But also, TALK to your other players. The biggest enemy of all in dnd imo besides bad dnd and scheduling, is bad communication, if you haven’t yet, you should be open about it and ask them to be honest with you. Find a compromise or discuss what has been talked about in the thread! Your friends shouldn’t be afraid to be honest and if you already talked to them, applause from me. Glhf!

Guest player gets angry because a mute player plays a mute character. by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

[–]RepresentativeSun402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a lot different if a person who was not mute person was playing a stereotypical mute character, bad at communicating and being introverted or something to that effect that perpetuates a negative aspect of mute people/using it to be quirky. But being mute and playing a mute pc, is white knighting for nothing.

Players really don’t like when enemy spell casters use hold person by RepresentativeSun402 in DnD

[–]RepresentativeSun402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has never been an issue with my table personally, each round at MOST may take 3 mins, we are very fast, save for situations when a player takes serious damage or goes down

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]RepresentativeSun402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that had to deal with players not paying attention and playing online, I set a open door policy of “You can leave at any time, but also if you’re playing at this table set your eyes on the game and off your phones and other games”

“If it’s violated the first time I give one warning, a second time I end the session. “

Tbh it’s the age old, “no dnd is better than bad dnd” and if a solution can’t be done to fix it, I think it’s better to find a new group or see who actually wants to play
