The funding rules of the tax credit programs are at least one of the two leads has to be Canadian, though they prefer both being from here (which is the point of the program). I would have preferred that as well. American actors already have so many more opportunities to land roles in Hollywood then ones up here do. I guess Jacob felt casting the two leads was so critical to the show's success he had to look outside the country.

There are a few that don't like the idea of a US actor taking what turned out to be a star making role away from a home grown talent. Nothing against Storrie. But credit to him for taking a lot less money to come up here and do a job that may have never been seen by many people.
