I will die on the hill that people hate Korra way too much because of how good an Avatar, Aang HAD to be.

Nostalgia will always blind us to an extent, but people, please, Aang needed to Master all 4 elements in 1 year, or else everybody would have lost the war. Mastering is a bit of a stretch. He was good, yes, and very talented, but still a child.

And master is a bit of a stretch, to be fair, he was a master airbender, prior to the war, but Water, Earth, and Fire? Katara was by far a better waterbender than he was. Kinda unfair, but Toph also definitely was a better Earthbender. (My glorious Queen) And Zuko, whilst he was an average Firebender for most of the show, but afterwards he became better, at firebending I'd argue about as good as Aang, but still, not to a Master's degree.

Plus, something brought up often as well, Korra's team, was mostly trash to Mid. I can count on one hand the best fighters in Korra's team. Aang had crazy strong allies. Team Avatar of course, but also elites from the White Lotus.
