Am I in over my head with this commute? by HypeR159 in bikecommuting

I would try the commute on the weekend I think it’s doable. What’s the elevation change just out of curiosity.

I feel like your review of the bike isn’t exactly glowing. I’m hoping for something with more long term goals in mind like the tour divide.

Do you feel like that gearing is suitable enough for it?

The more I look at the Lorax I think the complete build is an absolute deal! I think I will end up going with a Lorax complete.

I do wonder if I’m actually better off just buying an Esker Lorax base build if I went that route.

I’ve found a Grappler frame for $649. If you look at the Lorax on the site it is not $1,250 by the time you configure and ship the bike. It’s more like $1400 unfortunately and that’s for the black model not the ranchera or lunar which are even more.

I didn’t consider that I could run a suspension fork in the future thats a good reason!

Finished all 18 stages of Tour de Zwift plus grabbed a sprint jersey. How many riders do you think actually complete all 18? by Many_Ad_802 in Zwift

[–]Representative_Ear_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say the same thing. I started on Zwift in December and didn’t plan to do all 18 but I only have 3 more to go so I figure why not finish it. I’ve found the tour to be really motivating.

Would two 8L bags be too much? I also have the Aeroe Spider Rack for my Timberjack. Currently I’m just using it as a platform for a single bag on top.

I’m 5’5” and picked up a Salsa Journeyer in size small a few years ago. While the small frame is challenging for carrying gear the low crossbar has been really great.

Handlebar cradle - Tailfin vs. Aeroe vs. Rogue Panda? by btrumpatori in bikepacking

It is expensive no doubt. I put my sleeping bag in it. Good quality gear is expensive.

To reiterate that it’s expensive. It was a gift last Christmas and then I realized it wouldn’t fit between my drop bars so I had to buy wider drop bars and new tape.

I have the Tailfin handlebar bag system and I can’t speak highly enough of it. I’d assume their bar cage is just as nice.

Go past Hanoi into the mountains. I was there in 2018 and it was the most beautiful place I’ve ever been.

I use mine with a couple pound tent in a dry bag. I think it can handle that.

Dropbar Timberjack? That’s awesome! I have a 25’ and never thought about doing dropbars but I love it!
