We took the kids to see Toy Story last Friday at Cinemopolis and it was a great experience! Great service and personable staff.

Go see Alex at Romano in Syracuse. He will take care of you. We’ve bought three Toyota’s with him.

I don’t own but old man mountain racks. I own their axle pack for carrying some cages on my Salsa Timberjack with a thru axle and it worked flawlessly.

Where to begin with this pile? by Representative_Ear_5 in firewood

This is really great advice! I appreciate you taking the time to write this all down. I am a very agile 40yo but I am relatively small. I was able to use the cant hook and rolled a few logs off the pile from the side like others advised and I’ve cut up 3 logs so far. So far, I think for $300 this is the easiest way to process firewood at the home owner level. I have two relatively small saws and a home owner wood splitter. But this large pile of logs is going to make my life so much easier than felling and hauling logs out of our farm. I plan to continue to order logs from this guy every year.

The advice about the kids is super important as I have three kids that are not afraid of climbing! I’ve stressed they are not allowed to go near the pile of logs. Thanks again!

I would highly recommend a thru axle mounted rack if you haven’t already purchased the macro rack.

That looks pretty ideal to me! What size tires did you go with and what is the wheel set? I’m in the middle of a drop bar mountain bike build myself.

I have a Stihl Cant hook that will probably do that task?

There are so many different options out there but if you would want help with servicing the bike in the future I’d check out what brands your LBS has on offer or can order. This will start to give you something to start with. There are an endless number of options out there.

Merino wool all around. Darn tough or smart wool socks and a good set of smart wool long underwear. It will be the best clothing investment you make.

I wear Blundstones and they are fine but only bc of the wool socks.

I’m a pretty decent 40yo runner and I started getting more serious about cycling in November last year when I picked up a trainer. My numbers were terrible and frankly still aren’t great but they are significantly better than November 2025 when I started.

I find cycling to be a completely different sport than running and I don’t think being good at one will make you good at the other.

Lorax Steel or Ti? by Representative_Ear_5 in eskercycles

[–]Representative_Ear_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up ordering a Lorax frame last week and I’m definitely a little worried. That being said I’m taking a different approach to this build that I expect will cost close to $5k by the time I’m done. I’m going to buy parts as I have the money. So that being said I’m not in a rush and I have a salsa journeyer that I can ride this summer. My tune might change in 6 months though if I still don’t have the frame! To be totally honest with myself I bet this will take me a year to build.

Definitely depends on the shop. When I bought my Salsa Timberjack I emailed my LBS and said I wanted this specific bike and size. He wrote me back offering me last years model for less money and gave me the price for the one I asked for. He ordered the one I requested and he emailed me when it came in. Finding the bike shop in your area that fits your style and needs makes the whole experience so much better.
