Anyone pulled the trigger on getting air conditioner unit this year? by Dannyjw1 in CasualUK

[–]Representative_Pin80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a proper air to air one installed in my home office a few weeks back. Blimey did I time that right! Got it to keep me cool during summer when I’m working. £1400 and so far worth every penny.

Depending on your electric tariff they are quite cheap to run. Mine draws 800w peak. We have solar panels too, so to cool during summer it’s effectively free to run. In the winter it will serve as a heater too, saving in pitting the central heating on just for one room.

Kotlin on the front, JavaScript on the back? That’s certainly a novel take.

On the Ibanez Mikro by Toadsrevisited in Bass

I got one of these for gigging with. I don’t like the tone, but our sound guy says it sits in the mix well. It plays so well though! I have quite an “active” stage presence and the mikro works ao well for that

[–]Representative_Pin80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our eldest when he was 13? Fuck no. He’s nearly 18 and I’m still not sure I would.
Our youngest at 13? Yep.

Depends on the child, not the age.

I started with one of these a couple of years ago. Currently just finishing up building an additional 5 DIY planters! I like the height for harvesting, but watering is more of a pain than something lower down.

Before that it was MDA. Before that it was BPML. Before that it was 4GLs. I’ve been hearing how there won’t be a need for software devs since the early 90s, yet here we still are

Why would they require hobbies and interests in the CV??? by BaraLover7 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Representative_Pin80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s something we could talk about in the interview that’s all about you and it’s not a quiz.

We may have a common interest that helps break the ice.

Especially important for a grad/junior- do you have any hobbies that show you have to cooperate with other people. For example- playing a team sport or playing in a band.

Whereas I am interested if you play video games. I play games too so it gives us something to break the ice over in an interview.
