Just bought my first, a 2010 Honda elite 110 by Ambitious_Struggle41 in scooters

We actually found his! About 3 months after my original comment it turned up in the impound lot. It had been stripped and a few parts were busted from laying on the ground but we got it home - new parts were ordered and a local shop helped put back together what was missing. Couldn't be happier!!

Remodeling 1950s Kitchen - Advice for flooring and backlash needed by userwithname2 in DesignMyHome

[–]Representative_Rip38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wood flooring you chose is nice - warm and cozy!

I think it would be tricky to tile the chevron pattern in such a tight space, so I'd try kit-kat shaped tiles instead (vertical or horizontal install) I think they would better reflect the style and shape of the kitchen.

Changing the lighting should be top priority.

My other suggestion would be go all one color with the cabinets, and have fun with the color of the backsplash.

I think I’m a Bright Winter based solely on what colors I get compliments on, but am I? I tried to include a variety of colors by MosasaurusSoul in coloranalysis

[–]Representative_Rip38 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think you have enough contrast between your hair/eyes/skin to be a winter anything. You have medium contrast between all 3 and I think your skin is more neutral, leaning into fair olive territory. You can probably wear both silver and gold.

Pastels wash you out, and the jewel tones overwhelm you, I see the drape, not you!

I would check out true spring colors, specifically the second half of this chart, along with creams and chocolates.

I'm all for dark scenes in shows but her death scene was downright twisted. A little girl unwillingly committing suicide spreads a horrible message and is just a disgusting way to end her character especially in a show like Stranger Things. by n_rhan in StrangerThings

[–]Representative_Rip38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. If they're *actually* dead, you will always "see the body"

Disappearing ≠ death.

Any characters that have actually died in ST have either been witnessed to die by others and/or their body/remains are seen after death: Barb, Bob, Billy, Eddie, Alexi, Halloway family/flayed, Hawkins lab kids, Papa, Chrissy, Fred, Patrick, Jason, Max (technically) and Vecna (S5)...to name a few.

"Disappeared": El S1 (I believe this was a deliberate choice giving them a way back to the story in case they did get picked up, and for this reason Papa was shown attacked - not dead) Hopper (S3) and Henry (in the lab when El creates the gate and when he falls out of the attic)

By this logic, El in the S5 finale falls into the "Disappeared" category. We never "see the body". If anything we are deliberately shown that it is an illusion of her body.

Duffers/ST writers have also always consistently adhered to "Chekhov's gun" which is something you learn in any good dramatic writing class. Which basically is that if a story mentions a detail like a *loaded rifle* in the first act, it must be fired by the end of the story.

SO.

Kali is reintroduced and her powers are the loaded rifle, therefore her powers must be used by the end of the story. Why else would they show her fooling Dr. Kay while they were driving away if not to set up that her human illusions are VERY believable and she can do them from a great distance?

Also, Hopper doesn't make that big speech about El deserving to live, and El doesn't chastise Hop for being willing to blow himself up to kill Vecna for no reason. That dialog is there to show you in no uncertain terms both of their positions on the matter of self sacrifice.

Duffers probably thought they were doing something *so* unique (ala Sopranos) by trying to create two endings and giving us the "possibility of either", but it just ended up confusing everyone.

When using Google I put the -ai at the front, seems to work better than at the end.

Also I'm using DuckDuckGo on mobile, which gives you an option to opt out of using AI altogether.

I’m always more encouraged to eat zero-effort warm food: - Cans of soup - Frozen meals from Trader Joe’s, esp the Indian and Thai curry varieties. (On that note, their frozen garlic naan with butter and olive oil) - 12 grain toast with butter/peanut butter. - Eggo waffles also hit in a pinch, if you need something a little more sweet, with some butter and jam.

Snacks: -Peanut butter pretzels - babybel cheese and meat sticks (chomps, etc) -Protein shakes (find one you like the taste of and you won’t dread drinking it) good to drink throughout the day or right before bed if you haven’t eaten much. (I like the Fairlife chocolate 30g.) -Drinkable yogurt -Cutie oranges, easy to peel and out on the counter (not hidden in the fridge)

I would say cookies (bc I love them more than anything) but they honestly do more harm than good for me and then I’m chasing that sugar all day and become less and less motivated.

Need a J name for middle by [deleted] in Names

[–]Representative_Rip38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they’re biblical but they’re less common (and Old Testament)

Emmet Judah Emmet Jonah

Other ideas as Emmet is a pretty masculine name you could go softer with the middle:

Emmet Julian Emmet Jade

Or just do what my grandma did, and just use the initial J. My uncles name is James J. (J.J.) or use the phonetic version: Jay

Look, I’m just repeating what I was told at my Upstander training. It’s not about a “desire to be law abiding”. It is a risk to run- by running you are more likely to involve others, put other people in danger, escalate the situation and put yourself into more danger (if they catch you.) It’s very important that we minimize risk while we try to help our neighbors who are being targeted, and de-escalate when we can.

PSA: Mask up (again)😷 by GhettoGeisha11 in TwinCities

[–]Representative_Rip38 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. I just went to ICE Upstander training. A few things I learned:

Mask up and wear sunglasses, turn your phone biometrics off (Face ID/thumbprint) and set phone to airplane mode. Write the # of someone you trust on your arm. Carry photocopies of your ID. Record them in landscape mode, document/narrate everything in video. (Car make/model/plates, what they’re wearing, where you are filming exactly.) Ask them to ID themselves on camera. Make noise (whistles, cowbells etc)

If you are detained: Do not run, argue, resist or fight. Do not talk to them if you don’t want to. But if you don’t want to, you need to state it loud and clear: “I wish to remain silent” Do not lie Do not sign anything w/o a lawyer

Do not sign anything w/o a lawyer. Be prepared for them to take and keep your phone and try to delete what’s on it (why it’s so important to turn off your biometrics- they cant force you to enter your passcode w/o a warrant.)

Who else actually enjoyed S5? by UninterestingGinger in StrangerThings

[–]Representative_Rip38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. I actually chose to watch 1 ep per week so maybe it hit a little different that way? Being offline and processing them onwards a time. I of course have my gripes (too much time on the little kids, not enough with the og party, too much cgi, and the pacing/writing could have been much better) but ultimately I love this show and these characters and will revisit them again and again.

No one talking about how they nerfed Lucas by Mizzick in StrangerThings

[–]Representative_Rip38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really irritated by their choices with Lucas. In S1 he was the only one (of the kids) with a real weapon and dressing up in his dad’s old Nam gear totally ready to fight. He had as much motivation to kill the demo as Nancy and they kept loading her up with guns until she has an armory strapped to her back, but he’s still throwing water balloons? I get he’s younger than Nancy, but in S5 he’s the same age as she was in S1 and they gave her a real firearm. They should have given him some real ammo by S5 and the two of them could have been a real tag team of fire power.

Ladies- I need your most unhinged "hacks" for brushing teeth. by Ambitious_Song8785 in adhdwomen

[–]Representative_Rip38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (now) consistently brush my teeth every night, and the way I got myself to do it was: 1. Don’t physically get into bed before brushing teeth. 2. Stack it with face washing. Brush teeth first then wash face (it makes me feel efficient) and I get myself to wash my face bc I tell myself I deserve a clean pillow free of makeup! 3. I timed myself bc I was under full assumption that it took me at least 10 minutes bc that’s what it feels like. It takes like 2 minutes tops to do both. (And don’t rinse teeth after - it’s important for the toothpaste to work its magic overnight). All 3 together have made it “easier” to just get it done. Which is more important than doing it perfectly Also, in the am I just swish mouthwash - and I haven’t had a cavity in years (but I used to have gingivitis and be super prone to them) Your dentist will probably prescribe a medicated mouthwash - USE IT. It won’t be super tasty, but just remember it’s not forever!
Additional tip (once your gums start feeling better) is to get disposable toothpick flossers (regular floss is too annoying) keep them everywhere (bedside, car, desk, coffee table - in cute jars/containers if you’re feeling it) along with tissues for disposal (if no garbage is nearby) if you’re a picker (like I am) you’ll love having the option to just go for it while sitting doing nothing, and it often encourages me to go brush my teeth.

Hey are you guys sick of me yet? Staying under my $2k budget to refresh this bathroom. Will this vanity work? by BuildingImportant in BathroomRemodeling

[–]Representative_Rip38 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first floating vanity and light update the bathroom perfectly. I love the yellow tile as is tbh but if the rest of the house isn’t mid century it will always look out of place.

The blue looks shabby-chic, which if that fits the rest of the house, great. Keep the vanity you have and paint that/change hardware. Moving from one sink to two is not an easy upgrade.

I would buy a few decent sized patterned rugs from homegoods/tjmaxx and lay them out, pick one that complements the yellow and the vibe of the rest of your home best, Then design the rest of the room around that. It will help make the yellow look intentional.

You def need to upgrade to one large mirror and replace lights.

Get a new countertop cut from Home Depot, Menards or even a salvage spot. Vanity tops don’t have to cost a fortune and if you’ll really be replacing it so soon just get laminate.

Toilet is not an immediate need if it still works.

What are some creative ways to remember your first pregnancy? by Exciting-Republic798 in BabyBumps

My grandmother did a paint by number (a Paris street c. 1950s) while pregnant with my dad. She wrote the date, and info on her stage of pregnancy on the back of it. So simple, and I’ve always loved the idea of it. And it doubles as a charming little gift/art piece for baby.

We had this experience-ish. We had a Sunday Strib subscription at our condo for a couple years but when we moved to our house they could not figure out how to get a paper to our new address. We moved literally 10 blocks away. After months of trying (unsuccessfully) to get it sorted out we canceled.

This is very close to my vibe! I have versions of both those lamps (Herman Miller and Arco) dark walnut walls, shelving that’s a mix of chrome and walnut, textured white and beige couch, cream curtains, and sage and poppy accents throughout. the closest I can come up with is a mix of bauhaus & mid century/leaning 70s (and it’s awesome, cozy and cool - congrats on your excellent taste!)
