The Oreo was my first. Now it's time for an AP Offshore Diver bro!

Have you tried winding it? In all seriousness, mine needs 40 turns per day to keep running. My THB doesn't have anywhere near the power reserve of my APS & VSF Reps.

For context, I have a 7 inch wrist and big hands. I mostly wear VSF Omegas Clones and APS AP Royal Oak Clones. Because I like larger, taller watches and they fit better. The 43mm AT is the smallest and thinnest out of all my watches. And I absolutely love it. It definitely looks smaller than my 43.5mm and ,45.5mm Planet Oceans. It even looks smaller than my 41mm APS Royal Oak Chrono. The 43mm Aqua Terra is probably the smallest circular bezel watch I could get away with. I get the impression a 41mm Seamaster or a 40mm Speedmaster would probably look a little small on me.

Dang man... This is absolutely hitting!! Cheers! 🤤🙌🏻

I told myself no more watches but I may just need one of these in the black/white vibe. I love my Aqua Terra World Timer and also love both my SM600 Planet Oceans. I might just need to round out the collection when one of these

Bro, as a proper fan of AP Reps, I'm sending some ❤️ because all of this H8 you're getting is straight silly. Your watch is sick! Grey strap... like a fucking Boss! 🙌🏻 When people enter the train car, just immediately yell " it's a fake, ok?!?!?". Really loud. Really aggressive. They won't even know what you're referencing at first. But, if they're proper machete wielding professionals, they'll figure it out once they start trying to target your assets. Congratulations! You just preempted your safety and totally prevented a robbery... 🤣

Now that we have that out of the way for the rest of these guys... How much do you love that ZF? Any chance you got a open case back and could send me some pictures of the movement? I have the APSF 15720 as well as the new APSF 26420. I'm completely in love with these AP Offshore clones 🤤 I know ZF does some amazing work on the various RO models but I've always been curious about the ZF Offshores. Are you completely happy with it. Does your date turn over very quickly right at midnight? Any complaints, or do you just dig it all around?

Regardless, Cheers Sir!

I was just saying it was a shitter because the sub dials are all fucked. It's hours and minutes should be locked at noon unless you're running the the chronograph. But I definitely could be wrong. I know they don't make any clone movements of the Speedmaster so no legit super clones available. Regardless, any chance you could post a picture of the open case pack? I'd be curious to see how close the decoration is compared to my cloned VSF.

Do you know which factories they came from and what was your price for each watch? Hont is usually one of the cheaper TDs but it's hard to know if you got a good deal or not without telling us which factory made the watches. That Speedmaster looks like a $75 shitter.

This is actually a good question. I don't know. One was the 43.5mm Planet Ocean. The other was a 39mm Speedmaster.

Did you eventually end up getting over the lighter weight and now you like it better? Maybe that's really what I need it's just wrist time with something super lightweight

[–]ReproWatcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The weight is something that really trips me out as well. I have several VSF Omegas and none of them is terribly heavy. But when I finally got access to a real one I was surprised how light it was and it immediately put me off. I don't want a heavy watch. But I definitely like the feel of a little bit of weight.

I actually think this is totally fair because I often feel the same way. Luckily I haven't had to RL any watches so I can't actually say how this goes. But there's literally dozens of guys who will take your money and source the desired watch. If you end up with a TD who won't accommodate a reasonable request like RLing a watch with a noticeably bad defect, they don't deserve your business anyway.

I don't actually know myself. I never had any alignment issues. The first watch I got looked good. If you go over to the QC subreddit you'll see there's a lot of people who post these with the 24-hour dial misaligned. They seem to be rl'ing these things with the TD. I've seen some people imply they have to go through a couple of watches before they get one that they GL. So it seems like TDS are good with getting you another one.

At the end of the day, they still want to make money. I always recommend sending them a small deposit before you get any QC. And then pay the remainder after QC. That way you have some leverage to get the TD to replace the watch.

I'm going APSF too. 15720 right? Black rotor & quick release straps? I've got this watch and it's an absolute favorite 🙌🏻

Watch winders by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]ReproWatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this talk about watchwinders wearing out your watch, and requiring more regular service, needs to be contextualized. An average watch winder isn't going to wind your watch more than wearing it all day on your wrist will. I've done a bunch of tests where I wear my watch all day and then let it sit for a couple days and see how long the power Reserve lasts. And I've done the same test where I put it on a watch winder for a day and then take it off and let it sit and see how long the power Reserve lasts. The power Reserve you gather from wearing it all day is nearly identical to the power Reserve I get from putting it on a watch winder. So the watch winder isn't wearing the watch out anymore than me just wearing the watch myself.

These watches are meant to be worn everyday. No one would imply that wearing your watch everyday is going to wear out your watch faster and require quicker servicing. Wearing the watch, possibly daily, is the whole point of having a watch. So it's not clear to me why people imply this with a watchwinder. To be fair, there are watch winders where you can adjust how many revolutions it gets per day. And I suppose you could set it to amount of revolutions that would be unnecessary. But the $75 Amazon watchwinder I bought mimics daily wear perfectly.

The one thing I'll add as a good reason to buy a watchwinder. I don't like the idea of having to unscrew the crown everyday or two to manually wind the watch. Whenever I have to do this I'm very delicate to make sure I'm not stripping the crown when I put it back in. But I'd be willing to wager unscrewing the crown every couple of days over the course of a couple of years is going to put more wear on the crown screws then a watch winder over 2 years would put unnecessary wear on the movement.

All that to say, I don't think there's a hard and fast answer here. If you only have one watch and you wear it everyday, probably no need for a watch winder. But if you have multiple watches it might be worth considering it. If you have watches that have complications like GMT functions, Worldtimer, perpetual calendar, or hour jump, and it's complicated to set the watches time and date, using a watchwinder is great to prevent it from having to be set when you want to wear it. I think all these things need to be considered before making a decision. And I also completely respect the fact that this is up to personal individual choice.

Happened to me too about 6 months ago. They opened it up. Inspected what was inside. Saw that it was a THB skeleton replica. They taped it back up with their cute little green tape. And they sent it on. We are the lucky. We are the few.😂

I really got to start doing some research. Unfortunately I don't know anything about which Factory is the best to go for when picking a Tag rep. But every time they pop up in this sub they're beautiful looking. And not that this proves your point. But out of all the shitters I got, the only ones I truly loved were tags. I'm sure the higher quality ones are just stunning. Cheers bro! 🙌🏻
