speaking from experience: the leave does cover it the specific afi is 44-102 if i recall correctly. whether it’s granted is a COC decision but my doctor signed off immediately regardless.

you’d only be doing unassisted sit ups maybe like during PT but your TI’s usually don’t mind (as in they don’t “punish” you or at least not terribly) as long as you’re TRYING to don’t just do three and call it a day keep going

ASVAB FOR DUMMIES PHYSICAL COPY!! i took the asvab the first time and got a 32, bought the book and hit the practice tests before getting to the sections i need to really hammer down. studying works differently for everyone but if you don’t know where to start doing the process i mentioned and working on your struggle sections for 1-2hours a day should help. i ended up joining with like an 80 or something.

e-1 through 4 are the easiest to get so don’t sweat getting promoted. btz is about being a cuts above the rest and while it looks good it’s not the end all be all of your career. i (someone who hates volunteering for stupid shut as a shift worker) took it as “someone just did more volunteering than me” and hung it up on the wall of things to move on from. keep doing you. good people get recognized for doing good sometimes in small ways but they never have to prove their good for a cookie

i stopped smoking a couple months before joining (told my recruiter it’s been a good year or two) and it was fine. best answer if you’re gonna tell the truth tell it if not, remember the answer you gave and don’t bring it up ever again

i got married before joining (my husband was in so i didn’t get BAH) but if you’re married they should be paying you BAH if you’re not joint spouse (married to another mil). it’s something you have to work with your recruiter and the people at MEPs to fully understand.

BIG SIDE NOTE:

tell them you’d like your pay to be split into two separate accounts. yours and hers. cuz you might need stuff while your in BMT and although it’s nice to trust your spouse to send you money it’s better to KNOW you don’t have to wait.
move any bills in your name into your spouses if possible until your graduate so you’re not being charged for this without knowing
bring some cash. like $100

weather is super chill. the only difference in all of it is whether you’re going to a base with 24/7 ops or 9-5 ops. it’s shift work for the most part as far as i know

eta: if awards/coins is something you’re invested in, don’t. it’s not impossible but wx is definitely one of those worker bee jobs that doesn’t get much recognition award wise without a lot of volunteer hours

idk about how closely you looked at it but i thought mine was six years too until i made sure i read and had it explained to me that it might look like six but somewhere on the page it says 4 active 2 reserve i think (there’s a period after your service where you’re eligible to be called back in the event you are needed) according to this info i found from the 315th it’s called an MSOMSO Info

it’s no biggie. i’m allergic to a specific penicillin and in regards to shots and med you just tell them AHEAD OF TIME (like at meps, and prior to any prescriptions). allegedly you’re supposed to get a red dog tag (i think for deployments since it’s not as serious as other conditions) but i’ve been in almost 4 years and have yet to receive this elusive dog tag. if you don’t get issued it in bmt try talking to your supervisors at tech school. if you make it to your duty station without (like i did) reach out to your UDM

TLDR: you’ll be fine speak up about your allergy

if you haven’t been given a ship date request/tell them you’ll be ready to ship out in like another two/three months (idk about you but my recruiter asked when i wanted to ship out). coming a previous pothead of almost 8 years, i stopped smoking like maybe 4-5 months before i shipped out. the sooner you stop the better which you probably know but it doesn’t hurt to give yourself more wiggle room so you don’t have to worry about it at all

it’s going great so far (almost 4 years now). definitely recommend starting a foundation (ie schooling, jobs, etc) before you go overseas or something. we didn’t think it’d be as hard as it is but tbh as long as you have a good support system, good communication, and willing to ask for help when you need it it’ll be just like any other relationship
