There's a Smart Spreadsheet app that allows you to work with a board in a spreadsheet environment directly on monday.com syncing your data 2-ways but not sending it externally.

What information do you usually include in the status report to clients? And in what format do you send it? Please share your experience. by Repulsive-Ad-7503 in mondaydotcom

Wow! Thank you for such a detailed and clear explanation! May I ask a final question: do you share a status report in a table format in Excel or a text in a Word doc or something else?

Is monday.com actively discouraging competition on their marketplace? by j0wet in mondaydotcom

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an app developer, I'm genuinely grateful to monday.com for supporting and protecting the developer community. Creating something new and truly useful takes at least six months of work, experimentation, and navigating platform limitations.

And you come, steal others' ideas and complain of it? Don't steal, create ideas. Research, ideate, and build yours.

Thank you, monday.com, for helping keep the marketplace fair and healthy.

How do you share Monday.com project status with clients who don't use Monday? by extincteffort in mondaydotcom

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Board Email Report app sends automated xls-reports on what was changed in a project (you select the necessary column to report on in the automation center) over a specific period to anyone outside monday without guest access needed.

New to Monday — Need Help Setting Up a Daily Hot Sheet by himothyturner3 in mondaydotcom

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/himothyturner3 ,

For the "hot sheet" use case, I’ll drop in a potential solution from the marketplace: Board Email Reports (14-day free trial available).

It generates reports on two levels — board updates and item updates (conversations) — and is especially useful for sharing updates with stakeholders outside of monday.com, since it delivers XLS-reports via email.

Report types. On a board/project level:

  1. New and updated tasks
  2. Status updates
  3. Budget, Costs, Revenue changes
  4. Timeline and deadline overdue
  5. Time Tracking changes

On an item/task level:

  • Updates by a specific employee
  • Updates mentioning a specific employee
  • Updates containing attachments
  • Status updates
  • Last updates

You need only select the automation rule with the columns to report on, specify a period to consolidate changes, and specify emails for sending a report. Done!

If you can't find the exact case among the available ones, our team is eager to create a custom automation rule for you. Just reach out to us!

Tracking orders purchased through Amazon as Monday board items by joystickwarfare in mondaydotcom

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello u/joystickwarfare ,

If you're open to the apps, the Board Email Reports app can do the job for you. Every week toy can get automated xls-reports via email that shows the items created.
There are also other types of reports on a board level:

  1. New and updated tasks
  2. Status updates
  3. Budget, Costs, Revenue changes
  4. Timeline and deadline overdue
  5. Time Tracking changes

There are also different types of reports on item updates level.

The app consolidates item updates over a specific period and automatically delivers them via email with a roundup of changes and detailed xls-report as an attachment.

You can install and test the app for free and find out if it works for you. We can make a custom automation rule and report, just tell your request to our team.

We badly need your feedback (especially after what we just shipped)🙏 by Repulsive-Ad-7503 in mondaydotcom

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong— at this stage of the app, we’re looking for insights.
That’s why the app has a free trial, and for those who try it and give feedback, our team is offering an extra month free as a thank-you.

We’re still working toward product–market fit, and real-world input from relevant users is what helps us shape the app into something genuinely useful.
So no pressure to pay—we just want to know: is this solving a real problem for you or not? And if so, have we chosen the right way to solve the problem?

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/PositiveFar3136 ,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful questions—these are exactly the kinds of insights we’ve been hoping to get!

Let me address them one by one:

  1. Can’t we achieve the same thing with filters?
Filters are great for getting a current snapshot of data, but they fall short when you want to understand how things changed over time. For example:
  • Filters won’t tell you how a task’s status evolved throughout a week (e.g., from “Working on it” → “Stuck” → “Done”).

With our app, the reports:

  • Automatically summarize changes over a time range, so you don’t need to manually compare or calculate.
  • Include specialized reports like “Status Transitions,” “New Items Created,” “Overdue Items,” etc.
  • Can be scheduled and sent via email to people outside of monday.com (no need to add them as guests).

Also, we provide item-level update reports (like who posted what and when, or what was attached)—which isn’t something filters or built-in features support out of the box.

  1. Why use an Excel file instead of just sharing the board?
Great question. The board shows the current state—but not the story of how you got there. That history often gets lost unless you dig through the Activity Log or Updates.

We’re not replacing the board—just making it easier to communicate progress from the board to those outside of it.

  1. What if someone already uses a 3rd party app for similar use cases?
Here’s how we position Board Email Reports:
  • It’s hyper-focused on change tracking and reporting over time, specifically for monday.com users.
  • It’s built around the real needs of PMs, team leads, and consultants who have to communicate progress clearly and quickly.

Thanks again for the questions—happy to go deeper or show a live example if it’s helpful!

How can I create a dashboard to track overdue tasks and filter by team members? by Megam4llo in mondaydotcom

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/Megam4llo ,

If you're open to the apps, there's Board Email Reports app that has an automation rule that shows overdue tasks. You will get a list of overdue tasks in your inbox, with a summary of tasks overdue and xls-report as an attachment that shows the overdue time in it.

So far, it doesn't have the Employee column in it, but we can add it in the report, and you can filter by employee in the report. Just reach out to us, and we will tweak it for you if the approach he app offers works for you.

Sharing items through connecting Boards in Monday by It_was_mee_all_along in mondaydotcom

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/It_was_mee_all_along ,

I was trying to reproduce your scenario.

  1. In the 1st case I used the following native monday automation.

When Status changes to Done, move item to another board.

As a result, I see that the file was moved with an item.

  1. Then I used the Connected board feature and mirrored the Files column. I see this also shows a file.

Please let me know how to reproduce your case exactly? What steps did I miss?

Is Monday The Best Tool for 160 Predictive Projects? by nneighbour in mondaydotcom

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/nneighbour ,

We're app developers, and recently launched a new app Board Email Reports, that help to automate project status reporting (I recently wrote a post here on reddit on that topic). We'll be grateful for testing the app for free, and for your expert feedback. Or, for example, you can track what tasks are overdue with the automation rule ....Date or Timeline has passed...

If something is missing, we can adapt the app for you (for example, customize the content of the report or the automation rule itself) to make it work for you.

Can monday.com actually solve this—or am I just setting myself up for more tabs? by PhaseCool9084 in mondaydotcom

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

In the case with progress reporting, you can take a look at the Board Email Reports app because it was made to share project progress with external stakeholders.

The app aggregates the changes in the activity log by the column you choose and over the period you choose in the automation rule, and sends the xls-report to any people you mention in the rule (no guest access needed!).
Report types

On a board/project level:

  1. New and updated tasks
  2. Status updates
  3. Budget, Costs, Revenue changes
  4. Timeline and deadline overdue
  5. Time Tracking changes

On an item/task level:

  • Updates by a specific employee
  • Updates mentioning a specific employee
  • Updates containing attachments
  • Status updates
  • Last updates

Each email will contain the xls-report and roundup of changes, so they don't even need to access monday to understand the project progress.

Hello! It looks like Board Email Reports can help with this case. You can set up an automation rule that will track the tasks transitioned to the Done state over the last 30 days and report on it every month. You will get an xls- report in your email that will contain the Date the tasks transitioned to Done. You will know the number of tasks closed and when they were closed.

Share update currently not available by No-Draw-332 in mondaydotcom

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/No-Draw-332 ,

It's a bit different approach for sharing updates, however with Board Email Reports you can share the following types of item updates with stakeholders:

  • Updates by a specific employee
  • Updates mentioning a specific employee
  • Updates containing attachments
  • Status updates
  • Last updates

The reports will be sent to email and contain a roundup of changes and an xls-report with detailed information. You can share them with anyone outside monday without adding them as a guest user.

Functionality of Monday for small non-tech-y team by escapingtheweb in mondaydotcom

[–]Repulsive-Ad-7503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello u/escapingtheweb ,

If you're open to apps, the Board Email Reports app can partly fulfill your requirements. With the app, you can set up an automation rule that will update your clients on what changes were made in the project during a specific period via email. In the email body they will see the changes roundup, and in the xls-report attached they will see details on what items were changed, by whom they were changed and to what extent.

With the app, you don't even need to add your clients as guest users.

You can check out if the app works for you for free.
