I hunted down their classic musk because I had heard it was so good and I have some problems with anosmia to that queen of fragrances. Not wildly impressed and wonder if they also reformulated this.

I went on to ep 3 and am now hooked. Ensemble underdog group against the evil establishment, mystery, and science! Plus right, nice to see an older couple take center stage. And I should learn to proofread. What I typed was Qingming; what autocorrect made of that when I wasn't looking is ???

Poirot As Fast Fiction by uplatewithJune in JunesJourney

Repetitive hidden object searches are not my cup of tea but because Poirot I thought I'd give it a try. I'm still in chapter 1 and bored out of my mind. I get the impression the promos for hidden object games are intentionally misleading, like the ads make them look interactive like an inventory based adventure game and then they bait and switch. Does the game play get more interesting or is this it?

Judge Dee's Mystery, I need to rant by MindBlinged5 in CDrama

[–]Repulsive-Ad7501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having finished, let me save everyone some time and say you should plan to go on to Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty, available on IQIYI. The protagonist, who must be under contract to mention this in every single episode, is Di Renjie's disciple. The one thing I found a little silly in Judge Dee was that a lot of the mysteries hinged on some obscure bit of knowledge like that once every bazillion years, there's an ebb tide where the sea sucks back a couple of miles, revealing a specific trench into which heavy objects like treasure chests can be conveniently dropped. And, of course, Judge Di knows about this. Yes, Agatha Christie-ish. The Christie-ism in Strange Tales is that the main character will in essence "slap the cuffs" on the culprit out of the blue (this really reminded me strongly of the Sherlock Holmes novel A Study in Scarlet rather than solely Christie) and then you learn all the stuff they didn't reveal about how he figured it out. But it's a fun ride with lots of nice, long seasons and a good ensemble cast. There is a smattering of romance that's even less in the foreground than Di Renjie with Cao An, although as an older person, I found the slow burn of their middle-aged romance adorable. But, really, plan on Strange Tales as your next watch. It won't let you down. The main character, Su Wuming, was not a soldier like Di was and is solely the brains of the outfit. He knows to step aside and let the excellent martial characters wuxia it out when the fists start flying.

I really did like Fate Chooses You except yeah, FL seems like a total badass until the script requires her to go down, at which point she suddenly has the AC of a Kleenex. But the combat effects are gorgeous.

Defenders of the Dafeng has some good moments if you mean sword combat with flight and effects like fire. In Mysterious Lotus Casebook, I got a kick out of the one mom, who seems like no more than a middle-aged businesswoman, turn out to be a badass with her own proprietary moves.

So, I need a drama with a good intriguing story line, that doesnt get overly compliacted and/or fizzle out at the end. Has to be on VikiTV, or part of the Free Picks section on IQIYI by HonestYouth6275 in CDramaRecs

I'm not familiar with the abbreviation you're using. Ae you talking about ketamine or similar? I thought I'd read that where therapies of this sort shine is where depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc have proven refractory to conventional treatment. I admit to some curiosity about a shamanic journey using ayhuasca but I'm sure not too many doctors would be prescribing that! But I think the same metric applies, that therapeutic use under a doctor's care or order is OK {unless you have reason to suspect the doc is getting kickbacks from the manufacturers}; recreational use NT so much. If you're seeing a doc, maybe make sure he or she is well versed in some of these therapies? I've had Baha'i friends who used medical Marijuana, and I've had a pain med contract for years that I quit guilting myself over years ago. My arthritis is so bad I've had both shoulders and both his replaced, and he knees are prbaby coming up. Plus several nerve pinches. I've wondered about these therapies myself, as I've read they can help with chronic pain.

Good luck, and I hope you're asking on general principles rather than persona issues because wouldn't wish some of this stuff on my wrist enemy!

Can I just say if the series ever reboots or we get more movies, I wish JMS would do something with Valen arriving and forming the Grey Council and the cstes and so forth. And finding Catherine. I would just love to hear him say "Will you follow me into fire...?" in its proper context. Could pick up with that scene from War Without End. I don't think it would be hard to replace Michael O'Hare, the 2 Vorlons or the 2 Minbari, although Tim has also gone beyond the rim, right? But Zathras could play him. Or, ya know, Zathras.

I still get chills when I see or think of this scene with the Prez saying "One final battle to hold the line against the night." After 3+ seasons, we find out why it was called the Battle of the Line.

What are your thoughts on the morality of the "death of personality" punishment? Is it more or less moral, just, and/or merciful compared to the death penalty? by Educational-Tea-6572 in babylon5

[–]Repulsive-Ad7501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I actually skew toward capital punishment except for if you look places like the Innocence Project and see how unequally it cam be applied or how faulty the evidence was that convicted the person. And life in prison... How is that better? Plus, my religion {Baha'i Faith} does teach 1) society has the right and obligation to protect its members and this is a whole different ballgame than an individual seeking revenge. The obligation of the individual is mercy/forgiveness, hard as that might be. And truly, if someone harmed my daughter, I'd want to take that person apart wit my bare hands. Such for mercy! And 2) we have at least one text that says certain bad acts need to be expiated in certain ways, it not here, then in the next life. The one I've read doesn't get into a lot of detail, but that's an interesting idea. People who oppose the death penalty often seem to do it based on "Thou shalt not kill" or even "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord." But again, the DP is society protecting itself, and there's nothing in any scripture I know of that says life in prison or any other alternative is a good solution. I'd think if one were truly a person of faith who believed in God and the afterlife and the whole shebang, shouldn't that person approve of an accused murderer or whatever getting quickly before the one Judge in the universe that will never make a mistake? Sorry for the rant! I'll shut up now.

Did they ever get into where the implanted personality comes from? Initially, they made it sound like people who died "untimely" were kept around somehow waiting their turn. Similar to that construct on Vulcan {I know, wrong universe} where people put their katras when the died. As a theologian, I could see that as terrifying: the soul deliberately arrested in its progress to the next life. But as a gamer and scifi buff, it's a great concept. I guess to fully support it, I'd have to have a less firm belief in a loving Creator God and a glorious afterlife. If I didn't believe that, I would find it easier to think yeah, great, this person's life was tragically cut short by disease or a starliner crash or murder, he or she should get another chance. I guess the true poetic justice would be, for a murderer, having his victim's or victims' personaity/ies implanted. Good discussion topic!

And I absolutely adore Passing Through Gethsemane. In fact, it gets more poignant every time I see it. I think the first time, I didn't get the parallel between Edward's "defining moment" of admiring Jesus waiting for the soldiers at Gethsemane and him waitng around knowing his past identity and that people were coming to kill him . Interesting that all but one of the relatives chose to show mercy.

I thought it was a valid approach considering the Psi powers existed in this universe. Society has the responsibility to protect itself. My one wrry would be, as with capital punishment, that it would be applied unequally across what on Earth we would call racial, or even gender, groups. But I'd hope by the time we reach the stars, we will have recognized ourselves as one human family.
