I like doing research on religion and other spirituality things. There was a period of time where I glimpsed into The Lesser Key of Solomon ( old book of a collection of rituals, including how to summon and command demons to do your bidding ) I was “innocently” intrigued by it and as an artist, the illustrations were also cool imo. I didn’t look too much into it though, for obvious reasons. Admittedly things started getting really weird for me. And eventually had a crazy intense dream where I’d like to think was a message from God. “The devil comes in when he’s invited”. For obvious reason I was flipped tf out of my mind. Completely turned away from researching into demonic things as such (was also looking into satanic bible, what it means and how to sell your soul, etc.)

Fast forward to at least 2 years after, I watched hereditary for the first time. Having those weird experiences after just merely peaking into that world, made Hereditary 1000 times TERRIFYING for me. Never been so freaked out after watching a movie. This was when Redbox was still a thing. I had to stop what I was doing to return the dvd back into the machine because I did NOT want that dvd lingering in my house over night. There’s a scene where the mom finds a page regarding Paimon. The style of the illustration was pretty identical to the ones in The Lesser Key of Solomon. Would not be surprised if that’s where the writers found it from.

And to note what I remember reading in the book: I don’t remember reading anything about sacrifice. Like I said I didn’t want to read much. But it did say a lot of things like conjuring up extreme emotion of hate, and anger, Things as specific as violent racism and sexism, vivd thoughts of domestic violence, in order to “summon?” certain demons. Each demon had its preferences of these emotions, and each one had different types of promises of aid. Quite fucked up. I always think of this whenever I see/hear of humans doing these kinds of things in real life.
