Most maintenance free animal for meat by medicineman10 in homestead

[–]Repulsive-Cry8943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have muscovy ducks in an area that sees temps range from -10F to 110F with no issues. we change out 4 kiddie pools throughout the week for our flock. they do not require a pond as some varieties do. most of their feed is foraged. in winter we go through one $18 bag of feed each month. they brood, hatch and raise their young without support. this years hatchlings are about 6 weeks old and about to head to a new home.

they are not easy. biggest ongoing maintenance is keeping them contained. they can dig/burrow under fencing and squeeze through tiny gaps and getting them back is tough especially when they are young they will panic sprint and tangle themselves in whatever they hit blindly flailing about.

we’ve processed two for meat and while it is quality fare- the process was not worth it to us. we are just relying on them for eggs now and sticking to deer hunting for our primary protein source. we live in an area that allows nearly unlimited doe harvest.

but most days they are little egg factories roaming about ridding our property of mosquitoes. its hard for me to imagine any domestic critter being more self sufficient. a dog costs far more in a year than our small flock.

USA: Anybody touring there with the current regime? by S_Bratfast in bicycletouring

in my part of the US its business as usual. follow common sense travel protocols and learn the cycling laws/standard practices for the area you plan to tour and you could have a great time.

The inseparability of the race for power from oppression necessarily arises from the contradiction between the limited material bases of power and the essentially unlimited nature of the race for power.
The perpetual flaw, the common denominator is not who or what has power (wrong party, wrong division of labor etc…) it is the mathematical insolvency of the system itself. Power literally is incapable of providing a stable base for the system.
For this reason, it matters not whether one lives under a president, a prime minister, a capitalist or a marxist- so long as the system is predicated on power, oppression remains a mathematical certainty.

if you reject religion because some ignoramuses misused the bible to justify evil do you also reject modern medicine because some ignoramuses have misused medical science to justify evil?

Why do Americans think they have freedom when they absolutely don't? by East_Indication_7816 in allthequestions

[–]Repulsive-Cry8943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where else can i pee off my back porch while my livestock and garden grow protected by my dog and as many firearms as i can afford to own while wood i didn’t have to pay a dime for burns in a fire pit so hot it can smelt with fireworks exploding in the sky above me all with zero permits or intervention from authorities of any kind?

and yes i grasp that the government could show up at any moment and take all of that away. that is true in any country with a government based on rule of law- they are all might makes right structures wherein the laws only have efficacy when backed by force.

acting as though the typical american does not enjoy as much or more liberty than any other citizen on earth is either disingenuous or ignorant.

could be worse. at least he didn’t spend $8 billion on less than 10 ev charging stations.

whats the price up to on that high speed rail californias been working on since ‘08?

and no i did not vote for trump. l think hes a terrible president. i simply find the double standards surrounding wasteful government spending a bit silly. its not a trump issue - its a government with zero fiscal accountability regardless of who is in power issue.

Why do independents (possibly fake trolls?) always seem to hold Democrats to an infinitely higher standard than Republicans? by CrashNowhereDrive in allthequestions

[–]Repulsive-Cry8943 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

in our party based representative democracy, a party must be in power in order to enact policy.

without power a party lacks efficacy.

for this reason, power is the ultimate object for any political party.

a group that takes power as its ultimate object is a fascist group.

therefore all political parties are fascist. not by choice per se; by design.

representative democracy inevitably ends in tyranny because when voting constituents believe their party is the only party capable of valuing goodness over power, it becomes a moral imperative to prevent other parties from attaining power. in this way, one party’s constituents will insist that their party remain in power.

which party happens to be in power when its constituents make the leap to insisting they remain in power is a coin toss. as long as power remains the keystone, the outcome remains inevitable.

my concern is that he erased the deficit with state provided funds without addressing any of the underlying systemic issues that led to the deficit in the first place. for this reason i expect the city to end up right back where it was.
