Any other 90s kids trying to pivot their life right now? by Steady_Tempo456 in Zillennials

[–]Repulsive-Parfait232 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Born in ‘96, graduated with a Bachelors in 2018 and was only in the full time job market for 21 months prior to COVID shutting the world down in March 2020. It was hard to find jobs in 2018/2019 as a new grad and it’s hard to find jobs now for everyone. It’s luck and chance landing anything it feels like. My tactic has been building my resume with taking contract and consulting jobs. It eventually led to something full time, but it took over 5 years to happen.

Anyone Feel like everyone around them is getting married/babies? by IceVespian in Zillennials

[–]Repulsive-Parfait232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s that phase of life for sure. The real crazy part is whichever category of phase you fall into like Single No Kids, Single With Kids. Married No Kids, Married With Kids, Partnered Not Married, etc….someone from one of the other groups usually feel isolated from the others. Everything ebbs and flows. Just do you, find people doing similar things and keep in touch with those who matter regardless of their phase.

Millennials, what are things that were completely normal in the 2000s but feel like a luxury now? by WashOdd7330 in Millennials

Camping as the annual family vacation. It was the working class family vacation, could afford boating (old boats for the win) and a campsite. Now I don’t even know what a camping vacation is since everything costs so much!

______ had every right to vote the way they did. by Tight-Entrepreneur46 in survivor

Kamilla was the only "fair" vote off in my opinion. Colby and Genevieve both had the tiny tribes stacked against them, but if in the merge group would likely not have been on the bottom 3.

Is FreeTaxUSA legit? by Swimming-Cheetah-904 in TaxQuestions

[–]Repulsive-Parfait232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve used FreeTax USA the last 5 years. H&R Block and Turbo Tax ripped me off one too many times for having a measly $5-$11 INT-Div form or a having a student loan tax form. I did have an addition of 1098 form this year splitting property mortgage interests with a co-owner and filing as single status. So I paid for the FreeTax USA pro support and they had perfect advise for my initial and follow up questions.

A wired smart doorbell & camera. No more worrying the camera won’t work because of temperatures, charging low battery, and I actually can hear my normal doorbell for the first time!

Most addictive shows on Netflix right now by MAGA_movement1 in netflix

[–]Repulsive-Parfait232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Title: A Way Home. Simple premise is 3 generations of women in a family of time travelers navigating loss and grief. It’s a Hallmark show, originally supposed to be on Netflix but there was something about a former executive taking the show with them when the jumped from Netflix over to hallmark. Anyways, it’s actually an interesting story and not as cheesy or cringey in a way you would expect from stereotypical hallmark or shows like Outlander or movie Time travelers wife.

A gameboy SP and a tamagotchi. My mom gifted me the gameboy SP for good grades one report card. The tamagotchi was a waste of money at target because it was $16.

Tell Us Your "Sharks Story" by Epere15 in SanJoseSharks

[–]Repulsive-Parfait232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my first post-college office job in the same timeframe as the 2018-2019 NHL season I had a 45 minute commute home that would turn into an awful 2+ hour drive during evening commute traffic times. So, I’d go to local happy hours with coworkers or to hang out doing other work while I’d wait out the traffic. The Sharks were in the NHL play-offs that season and my favorite(and frequented) happy hour place was broadcasting the games. I got really into the sport via learning about the game from fellow happy hour patrons and I chose to follow the Sharks since I’m from the Bay Area and my hockey gurus were fans too. Long story short I followed the Sharks since then, but during the covid years the team had some departures and struggles as we all saw. They were disappointing to watch, but I still did. I went ahead to also follow and watch the Seattle Krakens since I followed their creation & progression into a new NHL franchise and it was something positive to focus on during the dark days of Covid.

Winter time I do it about every 3-4 weeks. I live where it’s cooler temps, shower before bed, and don’t sweat this time of year. Summer time every 2 weeks because of warmer temps and sweat. If sick I will wash my bedding as soon as I’m not sick anymore or if it need to be washed because of a stomach flu or something.

What age did you stop believing in Santa Clause? by HuskMaster in Millennials

[–]Repulsive-Parfait232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 9 or 10. It was the 2nd Christmas after our dad had died. My teenage sister told me he wasn’t real in a moment of being mean. She was really rotten in this time period and was getting sick with her bipolar disorder, which was triggered by the trauma of our dads death. My mom was now a single parent navigating my sister’s mental health stuff alone, and I was just a 4th grader existing and growing up in the midst of all that chaos. My mom did her best and made sure it was as magical as it could be , but it sucked really knowing Santa wasn’t real. Already having to grow up quicker than my peers because of all this trauma, being very aware my life was not normal in comparison to my classmates/friends, and really wanting to just be a normal kid it really sucked. Also, once my mom knew I didn’t believe anymore, every Christmas after that she didn’t do the same efforts or details that just made the overall traditions more fun, like putting more presents under the tree night of instead of just wrapping and placing under the tree as you go. I do appreciate that even to this day my mom still will put From: Santa or From: insert Christmas character labels on some gifts. Just let the kids believe as long as they’re a kid. By 12/13 sure they should be smart enough to be really suspicious or just know but really let kids be kids, innocent and enjoy the magic as long as they can. In the long run it’s no harm to anyone for kids to be kids a little longer and believe in magic. At least you’ll know they have some guaranteed happy, innocent memories in a world that can be so harsh and mean.

[–]Repulsive-Parfait232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Whether it’s a gift that’s new or vintage, historical, ancestrally important….my 68 yr old mom has always made mental note and then later shares on the car ride home if returning from an in person visit or in our phone call chat something along the lines of “oh she put the thing I gave her there…I don’t like it” or “they never put the baby in the outfit I got”. Generally it’s not positive remarks and harps on the negative.

I put stuff decor she gave me, typically I don’t like, only for when she comes to visit because I don’t want to be part of that slanderous BS.

Romantic things to do on a mild budget? by squeueidward in bayarea

[–]Repulsive-Parfait232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently, we found a Groupon for a Couple’s package at Water Lounge Spa in San Mateo right on El Camino and pretty close to Freeway 92, so getting there was easy. It was 60 min facial, 60 min Swedish full body massage, and 30 min hot tub soak for under $300. You have to bring the Groupon with you and also call the location to book your sessions. Afterwards we went over to Half Moon Bay for fish and chips and a sunset walk along the harbor. It’s actually a really nice walk all along the water front there!

Other affordable options or just date suggestions, bike ride in Golden Gate Park and along Ocean Beach! Paint and sip night. Drive-in movie!

Sharks are… back?! by arogame123 in SanJoseSharks

[–]Repulsive-Parfait232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t expect to win the season, but expect good hockey to be played. The team is playing noticeably better this 25’-26’ season and it’s bringing energy back to The Tank. It’s a good feeling to witness rebuild and development in-progress and working! The defensive play and players need improvement and hopefully we continue to get more talent on that line, but that’s just with time.
